I've messed around with Olive Nation extracts for a while, but just on finished products. They even offer a peanut butter cup flavor that works well (not my personal preference, but the poker crew likes variety). Your concept about using it in the thumper hit me like a "duh!" moment. What a great idea! The Olive Nation stuff works great in hard seltzers too. Just a couple teaspoons to taste + ~1 cup of Splenda (to keep the calories down vs standard sugar) in a 5 gal corny keg in the garage fridge... Mango on tap currently & the wifey likes it. Flavoring options are endless! Cherry/lime, pineapple, & on and on...

Exactly Im going to have to try that they do make a slew of awesome flavors but yeah it does help in the thumper EXPECIALLY on the aroma

Great channel, Red can you do a video on how you drilled you mason jar, what type of drill bit what speed on the drill press did you have wood in side the jar to prevent the jar from fracturing things like that
@TheShineshack

I sure will I will try to do a quick video this weekend hopefully of me doing it I actually used a diamond hole saw bit for glass off Amazon and a hand drill just have to be careful not to apply pressure and keep spraying water to keep it cool and lubricated

Thanks for all those tips Red, on a side note: Each time I see your Mason jars I cringe!! here in Aussie I paid $35:00 bucks for 2 2Ltr jars, it's madness, then you have to buy extra lids.... lid insert's... It's Cra Cra down here. Good onya mate 👍👍.

I have heard that distilled water is better for proofing down liquor is there pros and cons to using purified water/spring water/distilled water?
@TheShineshack
@TheShineshack Месяц назад
I prefer spring water or purified water I feel like it adds a better flavor to the final product with the minerals that are in the water that distilled water doesn't have but always do a small test with your water you plan to use to make sure it doesn't cloud up to much minerals will make you Spirit cloudy I use my spring water and Walmart brand bottled water works well also

another newbie question i have been using bubblers for fermentation, i just got a 15 gallon bucket with snap lid can i just leave the lid on loose and let go or does it have to be sealed??
@TheShineshack
@TheShineshack 3 месяца назад
No problem. Ask anything. I don't mind. You can just leave the lid loose that's called open fermentation. That's my preferred method for fermenting. The only time I use an airlock is if I don't think I'm going to be able to run the mash right away when it's finished. Fermenting and airlock allows you to let it sit for months as long as it's sealed. When you do open fermentation you need to run it within a week to 10 days after it's done. Fermenting there's always a possibility of it getting an infection like lacto or something, But a lacto infection is really good in my opinion and add some good complexity but I've only had that happen to me like once over the last several years

@TheShineshack

Yeah, hopefully they'll get the ttb in Blackberry. It's alcohol-based so it blends really well

You seem like a really cool down to earth person. My question is do you have a dam good bourbon recipe that you would be willing to share. I have seen all your videos that I can find but it doesn't hurt to ask. I have been shining for about 3 years but now I want to learn other stuff and I like the way you come off. Your not saying Fing every other word and stuff. Hell I cuss but there is a limit to it. I have a still that I built and I have a thumper so teach me. Thanks

I really appreciate that I try to just be who I am and stay straight to the point without all the other nonsense but I have a heavy wheated bourbon video on the channel and also I rye bourbon video this one I got the grains from Stillin The Clear it was fantastic but I am in the process of creating and good bourbon with the main ingredient being sourgun but I always make my own recipes I never copy any so it definitely takes trial and error 😂 I don't want to post a recipe that tastes horrible for everyone to try So I definitely have to make it three sometimes six times before. I perfect it the way I like it and I like how it tastes but I'm always open. I'll share any recipe I have. I ain't one of them people that covers it and hides it. We are all shooting for the same thing. We are all Winners in this hobby I hope this helps. Soon as I nail that one down I'll be sure to shoot it to you....Shine On Thanks for your support I really appreciate it

Hey Red can I add the flavor with out the sugarwater??
@TheShineshack
@TheShineshack 3 месяца назад
Yes you can but I personally don't like it because it will smell fantastic but the taste is weird to me because extracts don't really have sugar that sugar makes the flavor more rounded and natural in my opinion you can still taste what it is but it's different it's kinda hard to explain 😂
