We have to remember that it was only several years ago that Canada couldn't beat the likes of Honduras or Panama, and now we're talking about a possible advancement to the quarter finals in the Copa America... this team is by far the best Canada has ever had... and yes, it will be tough to draw or beat Chile, but it's doable.
Great honest assessments of the match. Enjoyed watching the show and I am missing "Oh Canada, Oh Baby!" on the regular match play x play commentary! KJ's comments about watching them struggle and smiling sums up how the lads will grow from this match.
Some guys thrive as that spark plug off the bench. And every team needs this type of player. ShaffleGOD might be that type of player. If you start him he loses some of that pace he has over guys vs coming in as a fresh sub
It was Peru that made Canada look bad. It was Canada that made Peru look good. We played absolutely atrocious with the man advantage barely able to get a goal, I wonder what would happen if it was still 11v11 the whole way through
Peru is a team rebuilding but they have no players of quality to replace the Paolo Guerrero generation. They played those guys well beyond their Best Before Date. Now they're paying the price. Same for Chile and Mexico.
Shaffelburg was excellent! Love his energy! I keep hearing about how great David is. I still disagree. David wasn’t great but his goal overshadowed his otherwise piss poor performance. Crepeau was brilliant! Kone was a liability…again! Those were incredibly difficult conditions to play a sharp game in. The heat alone was brutal! Peru is a chippy, perhaps even dirty team. Well done to Canada for the win!
The officiating was questionable at best, ignoring a deliberate head bunt in the first half, that is an automatic red card? Not good. Canada's goal tender was excellent he literally saved the match for Canada more than once! He'll be a hot commodity after this tournament !
KJ is so completely biased to think that the difference maker in this match was Canada's substitutions. Canada doesn't win that game without the red card. We do have to credit David for being effective on his one-on-one, perfect finishing. But if Canada plays like that again against Chile, they're probably taking a loss.
Guys, I would love to see the people here criticizing our team go out & play hard in approximately 100 F Heat Index, that even had the assistant Ref pass out. This team came through in the clutch & that's what counts. Now you can say that they were lucky because Peru got a red card. Well yes & they should have had 2. The reason is that they were pulling every dirty play in the book to beat Canada. Chili looked even worse than we did when they played Peru & they only tied them & didn't even score a goal...
They're getting criticized cause they played like garbage, when it's that hot you should be making crisp passes to conserve your energy a little more, they couldn't string 4 passes together even to a 10 man Peru they play like that against Chile they will get punished
As a Peruvian, first of all congrats to Canada. Having said that? I don't know which game some of these guys saw? What changed the dynamics of the game was a red card!
Canada today, looked a lot like their old selves (not good). Jesse Marsch shoulders much of the blame. The simplest line up change, not that it was needed; would have been slipping Laryea in for Buchanan. Instead, he tries to reinvent the wheel and fails miserably. Canada wins ugly, but here's hoping they return to positive football against Chile
I think it was worth a try for Marsch to get Davies further up the pitch. I mean, why wouldn’t you try it? Credit to Marsch for realizing it wasn’t working and making 3 subs at half time as well as changing the tactics and the shape. I mean for Christ sakes, it was Marsch’s 4th game in charge. He is still trying to figure out what he has. Kudos to Marsch for trying something different and further kudos for recognizing it wasn’t working and making changes at the half.
@@Peacemaker16147f Sánchez, he’s old, yeah was a good player, but admittedly never at an elite level like say Messi , Ronaldo (ofc), Vini Jr. Bellingham or dare say our ver own Davies, there!!! 😈😈
@@Peacemaker16147it’s higher, but those guys were chirpy and played dirty af to be balatantly honest their mate!! 😈… seen their players???.. they got no generational talent, let alone an elite level star like Davies , there!!!.. at the end they f it up with that 🟥 & 🇨🇦 executed a very well counter play from the other end!!!. Players involved showed some of their class compared to theirs!! 😈.. ugly win, but they did it!!
