As someone who lives in a landlocked state, these videos make me so happy lol. The ocean is a very rare sight for me! The few times in my life ive gotten to experience it are unforgettable memories. 💙

Loved this two part shelling excursion - thank you. What a magnificent cone haul. And I love that hinged egg cockle! Regarding the colorful moon snail: that solid color variation (solid yellowish, often with a pale stripe) found in that area of SW Florida was actually given a different species name: Naticarius verae. I am not sure if this has been widely accepted in the scientific community, but the idea that it is a different species of moon snail has been kicking around for decades. Also, the lacy web sometimes found on shells is an encrusting bryozoan.

i think it's funny there is the alphabet cone and there is the lettered olive. do they teach the school of fish? lol

I have a question for you. I live in Southern California near Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, when I do go to the beach I NEVER see shells in the amount that you are blessed to have. Do you have any idea what kind of shells are down this way and have you ever come to Southern California for shelling? Also, my husband Richard want me to tell you that he was born and raised in Cape Cod, MA and his mom and him used to go hunting for sea glass and would find MANY treasures. Thank you for all that you do. 🐚 ❤

at 18:45 those are bryozoa, also known as moss animals. They grow on rough surfaces, mostly when the animal is dead and gone, or e.g. on the dorsum of large shells. At 27:45 a very nice shell indeed. Nice colour and gloss.

You found some very beautiful shells today the meraxs all of them are so amazing one of my favorites, lighting whelkes, pear whelkes, alphabet cones the little ones are so cute, fighting conks the baby one is to cute, horse conks, Banded tulips, spinny jewel box shells are one of my favorites,moons are very nice, nutmegs are beautiful, cute olive and so are the calico shells. We were on Marco in November and I love reliving my beach walks with your videos! I had quite a cool experience there and I wonder if it’s happened to you…. A woman called us over to identify a live creature she found. It was a very small orange octopus! It was a few feet away from the water so I was compelled to pick it up and get it back in the water. Yes, it but me, but it was so worth it! I likely let him crawl on my hand a little too long and he’d grown tired of me! Have you encountered many live octopuses? If you’re interested I can send pics!

Hi Sharmon! Thank you for sharing your shell exploration on Kice. What a haul! Those shells are so spectacular. Upon looking at all of them on the board, the one that really stuck out to me was that stunning calico scallop that has the hot pink apex! What a find!. Of course I thought the lavender ones were incredible too. I also loved the patterns and colors on those gaudy nauticas. Especially the ones with some purple on them. The cones were amazing too and all the others. The video really put me in a mood to go shelling (when am I not?) and finally, my husband and I get to go to the beach where I find amazing cockles of different colors and very large clam shells for my decoupage hobby. We're also going to visit a beach where it is rumored that there are large moon shells. We get to go next weekend and I'm excited. We don't get to go often with the beach being 3 and a half hours away. Thanks for the inspiration, and have a great week.

How would you think is the best way for a tourist to get to Kice Island, I'll be there in July.

I always learn something new from your videos. We have usually been to Sanibel a couple times since Ian. Getting my shell fix by watching, but also a little sad. I have never been to Kice. Bucket list item. I see buildings in this video. Wondering how hard it is to kayak to Kice. Are you going by boat?

THE TALE OF THE STARFISH IT ALL STARTED WHEN…A (Lady on Kice Island) was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement. She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference for that one!” The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the starfish were saved. Adapted from "The Star Thrower" by Loren C. Eiseley

Aren't life alphabet cones poisenous? I heard cones do have little poison needles and even kill peoplexwho have them in their hand 😮

I have been viewing videos from 80s Toy Hunter, who probably creates video every day. She shoots on the beach in front of the Island Inn Resort on Sanibel. There have been some great shell piles recently. Maybe check her out.

i should have worn my tennis shoes instead of swim shoes. i kept tripping over all those sticks on the ground. i have a prosthetic in one of my shoes being an amputee.
