Some of us have the great fortune of getting PIH by just LOOKING at a pimple. 🙄 Being a cinnamon colored girl with yellow undertones makes me a prime candidate. Retinol and hydroquinone has helped me so much, but stopping the use of products that cause the rashes and breakouts in the first place is the most important factor in evening out my skin tone.
Same here with the colored and undertone.. I didn't pick my pimples but still ended up with dark brown spots everywhere 🥲 Using retinol a bit too frequent and my doctor suggest me to stop it for the whole month because apparently it also irritates my skin..
@@rainbowchic_nov I'm sorry you have to deal with the same issues. I know the feeling. Are you using a gentle, fragrance free, cleanser and moisturizer before putting the retinol on? Could it be that other products are contributing to the sensitivity of your skin and the retinol is the last straw? I've been there too.

Same but with PIE😭. I' m a Fitz Patrick IV walking olive with ashy knees, elbows and backneck. Nobody understands why my fckng skin leaves a deep burgundy PIE instead of PIH. Genetics is a bishhhhh😒 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Makes sense. The people I grew up around would harrass others telling them they're disgusting for not popping pimples because they're "gross to look at."
This is horrible to say like whattt?!!! How could people just say that to them without even educating themselves about it😕 I also had pimples in my face and I could say we are already insecure about it so we don't need anymore comments.
@@NadaFromCodmIt was considered unsanitary by many born before 1970 or so…sort of like not washing your hands after using the restroom. Plus, there wasn’t research, many doctors told them to do it (and would do it for then). If they’re was research you would likelihood have to go to a large library to find it. Finding information wasn’t easy (which made proving your point difficult). I don’t know how old aellalee4767 is, but their caretaker may have thought it was what is best. Add to that, if that’s the worst you got told at school with bad scenario (until probably about a decade ago)…you were doing pretty well.
@@MountainPearls well that makes sense then, I just didn't think that it might of happened in that time, it's still not an excuse to bully people or make them feel unclean, but it's less worse than saying such a thing right now since we all have informations about acne and so.
That used to be alot more common round 2017 back. The hate and acceptance just wasn’t it then and still isn’t in alot of areas outside of the cities Ik. Really hate that, that unhealthy.
I'm not a derm, but this is what mine told me bc I have the same issue. If you have dark skin sometimes PIE looks like PIH (brown skin redness look more brownish redness rather than lighter skin people who have red or pink PIE). Also if your pimples are super deep you cant avoid the PIH regardless of your skin color.

Same here! 😔 But I’ve been using Differin for about one month in the morning and spot treating the post pimple dark spots, after it drys a little I seal it by protecting my face with La rosche posay tinted sunscreen and they seem to be fading. I know there has to be something better out there than “Differin” though..& it’s her product line. Lol one day I’ll be able to buy it. 🫶🏻
And plus, it’s not just my face. Any bite from mosquito in most cases will leaves red marks. I think for some ppl, no matter how careful they are, some skin will leave behind marks either PIH or PIE ( in my cases, I have lot of PIE to deal with)
Same. I’m 28 and I still have PIE from 10 years ago… I’ve found the only thing that makes a difference for me is doing a sheet mask a few times a week And of course SPF !
How to get rid of PIH/PIE pleasee! I’ve had so much acne for the last 3 years, every single pimple left a red mark. I’m finally on accutane and I just want to stop looking like my skin is still covered ☹️
But what if I always get PIH after having a pimple although I NEVER touch them? 😪 Or are those red spots that are left behind after pimples something else? It takes years for them to fade 🥲 to the point where it almost looks like I have acne although I don't, it's just the red spots that are left behind
OMG thank you for sharing this! I’ve gotten so much better about leaving my face alone when I have a breakout BUT I sometimes still will convince myself that if I extract the pimple appropriately I’ll be ok. This is rarely the case lol. I have a hard time just leaving it BUT after hearing this I’m realizing that either way I’ll have a mark…might as well leave it be and have the mark for wayyyyy less time! Thanks! ❤
I get that even if I dont pop or treat them so i just pop them. It's so satisfying. Then I went on Accutane and seldom get pimples now but when I do i pop
I have a mask on my cheeks. I have thyroid known of the normal medication worked except Armour thyroid. I’ve use SKll for a month and it literally helped the meds get rid of the hyperpigmentation my skin so nice no makeup just lipstick and lash extensions because they fell out from thyroid!
I have a patch of acne red marks that have been there for 2 months. The pimples are long gone, they are completely flat. The red marks tho? Still there. Just chillin. I did not pop them. They are just old wasp pimple marks (cystic acne, I just call them wasp pimples because they are jerks and serve zero purpose). Point being: sometimes even if you don't pop them, you are fatefully decided to have a red mark.
I get that from every cut scratch burn everything I had, even with using a scar cream , it still takes longer than most people.I went to the doctor to do a dermabrasion for my acne scars, and he told me that I’m prone to hyperpigmentation. And it’s better to use non evasive treatments, like light retinol.
It’s annoying because I mostly get acne around my chin and mouth area and I have no intention of popping them but they be popping themselves whenever I open my mouth to eat something and end up leaving scars
Don' t you worry at all because if they pop by themselves without squeezing with nails it means that they were mature enough to self drain. It could happen washing your face, sleeping of having a shower. When the pus is ready to come out, let it gooooo!!!! Just go and wash the area with neutral soap asap (any pharmacy soap than can be used to cleanse post surgery sutures). Imagine the deep atrophic scar they would leave if the pus stayed there some more days until it becomes green... 🧛🏻♀️🖤
How can it be treated?? I have a massive spot on my nasal bridge, I assume it was caused by my glasses. A dr recommended Eucerin's Thiamidol serum but it didnt help, if anything it got red and itchy from using
I had chicken pox when I was a kid. Scratched one of those blisters beside my nose and there's been a small round scar there ever since. It's not raised but a little darker than my medium skin. My dad got me a cream for it named Mederma but since I was young I didnt apply it regularly and then it expired. Was reallt expensive too.. wondering if I can just lighten the scar somehow? Is it hyperpigmentation?

I woke up one day with red itchy swelling around lip corners. It left what my derm called PIH. This swelling and going back to normal leaving a large dark spot happened multiple times (around 4) ONLY during the first day of my period.Any idea what caused the inflammation? Please
I have these all over my body from scratching on my mosquito bites ever since I was a kid. It was weird that old ladies would ask me why I had all these “green” bruises, even though they were brown in colour. I think they just associated what they thought were bruises as being green, and then commented. But I legit thought I was colourblind 😂😂😂 Also, the matron sent me to the school nurse to get evaluated, which at the time, made me so self-conscious about them so I started hiding them underneath clothes. Which made the situation worse for reasons unknown to me. My friend later pointed it out to me that they thought I was being abused by my parents. Well, I’m glad the school took this matter very seriously though.

Your skin barrier IS the protection! Just make sure you have a healthy, in tact skin barrier! I would say it started with someone wanting to sell filters!
I wish I had seen this months ago. Had two on the side of my cheek and it hasn’t gone away. It’s still red! How do I remove them? I can feel the tiny bumps that are in the middle of them.

Mine leave a dark mark that stays for months even if I don't touch them, even if I don't apply any kind of actives on it and use only hydrocolloid to protect it.
I swear to Saint Isotretinoine✋🏼: My face skin doesn' t work differently than my body. The more days the pus stays in a pustule, papule or cyst, the deeper the scar will be because it has had time enough to reach the hypodermis so icepeak or boxcar guaranteed. Exactly like if a suture stitch in my abdomen got infected and nobody did anything. But if I wait for the lesion to be fully mature (visible pus), use a disposable hypodermic needle and wash the area with warm water and neutral cleanser for post op, it self drains and in just 24h, no inflammation, no redness. Just pure release and a micro crust (the exact size of the pore) that doesn' t leave a scar. I apply centella asiatica for a solid two weeks after the baby crust felt anyways. Is it just me? 😢 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Do you have any recommendations for people who pick their skin? Like my cat would bite my leg and I would pick it and now I have marks on my legs. Is there any recommendation for that? Can I just use the same stuff I would use on my face on my leg? Now I try to have fake nails so I cannot pick but I still have all the scars and I'm very self-conscious from them especially on my lower legs around my lower calf area
