Life is Strange is much more than just a game, it is an experience, filled with the most diverse situations and emotions, I can't put into words how much this game marked me and was part of a very important moment in my life, I I love every character in this game, especially Max and Chloe and seeing their story always moves me and touches me deeply, seeing their gameplay also brought a lot of feelings to this wonderful game and I'm very happy to have discovered your channel through this series , seeing how you cared and approached the characters just makes everything even more incredible, I highly recommend playing Life is Strange Before the Storm, which tells more about the things that happened before the first game, having said all that, thank you very much for your gameplay , your tears and your dedication to this channel, I will certainly continue to follow you for many more years ♥️

Oh, btw I would suggest you play in the order they were released in, so Before the Storm, Captain Spirit (just a short demo but I love it so much), LiS 2, then True Colours.

PTSD is Strange

I know it will probably be a while, but I look forward to watching you play LIS: True Colors. It's not light-hearted escapist comedy any more than the others are, but still it's IMO the least dark in the LiS series. And there's a lot of genuinely wholesome and heart-warming parts in it, including an elaborate in-game LARP! Also, I think Steph (close friend and potential love interest of the main character) is just wonderful -- Definitely my favorite LiS character by a mile! (She's also in "Before the Storm," but she's a much more important character in "True Colors.")

I actually really love how this isn't structured because I love hearing your authentic thoughts. Totally agree with all your thoughts and this game truly is a game changer. I can hear a song/soundtrack from this game years later and still feel all the same emotions. Cannot wait as you continue this series. I loved True Colour and Before the Storm and hopefully you like them as well :)

I really enjoyed your play through. I actually haven't ever watched someone else play this game, but it is such an important game to me. I first played it in 2015, and watching you go through this emotional rollercoaster really took me back to the first time I played it 😅 To be honest, I think most* of the LIS games are worth playing, but the original game is lighting in a bottle; none of the other LIS games even come close to reaching the emotional or creative impact that the original does. It's something to do with the way this game handles those really shocking moments. It has a much more delicate way of balancing the normal teenage bullshit with the really crazy dramatic stuff than other games do, even other LIS games. Like, from an outsider's perspective when you just recount the story to someone, it could sound like a checklist of all the drama a cheesy teen TV show could handle: parent death, drugs, bullying, suicide attempt, teen pregnancy & abortion, sexual assault (kinda), death threats & murder. But so much of it is built up in an intelligent way, and we've often had many of those experiences ourselves. Like Kate's story: "oh yeah obviously the rich kids are doing drugs and partying", "oh I know someone who got spiked at a party", "my friend got bullied like that". And then we are led to the conclusion of Kate trying to take her life. It doesn't seem outlandish because we were there, we saw the signs. Irl many people know someone who went through that exact thing, we've heard about someone who did, or maybe it was a personal experience that actually happened to us. Similar thing with Rachel. She's young and gorgeous, she's been missing for months, she was involved with a shady drug dealer. Finding her body like that was incredibly shocking, but we saw the signs, ultimately most of us assumed she was dead, so it doesn't feel melodramatic when we find her. Horrible and shocking, yes, but not just drama for drama's sake. That's something I have yet to see done well in a single other game. In spite of all the wild shit that happens, I really think this game is grounded in reality in a way no other game of its type is, and it uses those moments like the one you described in Chloe's room to show that. I mean, isn't that exactly how we remember our childhood and teenage years? The wildest shit you could ever imagine, scattered between countless, achingly beautiful moments of mundane bullshit? 😅 They seemed like no big deal at the time, but we're all so nostalgic for them. We would give so much money to go back to them just for an hour. I think Max and Chloe's relationship also really captures a very pure element of being a kid/teen. I think most of us identify SO strongly with Max, her self-doubt, her lack of solid identity, and the fact that it really feels like stuff just HAPPENS to her, and she's just trying to weather the storm and make it through. That is such a quintessential part of being teen 😅 And, we all probably had that one friend who was larger-than-life, fun and chaotic, but got into all kinds of shit too. We've been there, we know these experiences, and that's why I think so many people have such a deep connection to this story. Anyway, sorry for the rambles. I'll be really interested to hear your thoughts on the other games when you've played them. I wonder if you'll agree with me. (*There is one game in the series I hate with a fiery passion, but I won't say which 😂)

The Voice acting work during the time they find Rachel's body is so good, because Ashly Burch the VA for Chloe, 2 weeks before doing this scene lost a close friend to a overdose, this was done in one take and Hannah, Max's also lost a close loved one around the same time, the tears the two shed in this are genuine. They were asked if it was better if they rescheduled and they said no, they were also in the same room when shooting the emotional scenes. this scene was actually done in a single take, not a second one was done because it was perfect. as it captured the genuine emotion the two were still processing from their own grief. And my theory on the deer, the first time you actually see it, it leads you to where Rachels body is and stands over it you just don't know the meaning of it by that point. My Theory is that Deer was Rachel's spirit animal and Max shares the same spirit animal so that's why she could see it, it was Rachel trying to lead them to her body, and it lowers it's head as if it's sad before it disappears, seeing Chloe breaking down. Also if you go into the Rachel and Chloe hideout and wrote max was here on the wall with Rachel and Max, during the night Chloe gets shot. Was is crossed out and is overwritten with IS Max's and Chloe's names will be circled in red, and to the left of the text in big bold letters, it'll say "YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE"

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to LiS is the next to play! It's great but I won't even describe the premise, you'll know shortly enough if you start playing it. This is just my personal opinion as a single viewer, but Life is Strange 2 did not seem nearly as good as the first game. I've never played Life is Strange True Colors (LiS 3 I guess?) seems to have overall better reception though I've never played it. But I suppose the whole series is worth playing for you. Just try not to hold the following games to the standard of the first game and give them each a chance standing on their own. Raw emotion while a camera in your face can't be easy but it's a fantastic way for people to connect over these underlying themes and relationships that a lot of people can understand and relate to. So I will say and maybe speak for the community in general by saying we appreciate that you allow yourself to be vulnerable for strangers.

I also posted this on the stream video I both love and hate the Sacrifice Chloe ending. I think it's narratively I think it's better, but the shit Max had been with Chloe through the fact Chloe is likely the only person she can actually confide in if she is alive, there is 0 way she isn't going through insane amounts of PTSD regardless of if she is alive or not. but without her, she has no one she can actually talk to in a way that can help her cope. Like she can't talk to a counselor about it and go into details as none of it happened in that timeline besides Chloe dying. her experience in the dark room, she can at least talk to Chloe about everything. and Chloe deserves better than dying on the floor of a bathroom, thinking she was abandoned and that she had no one. It sucks that the only time you can kiss her with a genuine passionate kiss between the two is the one where she dies. I did this ending once and never again, and wasn't the first ending I picked either. Max was faced with an impossible choice, save the love of her life, or the town. it's not as easy of a choice as it seems.

I played LiS for the first time back in 2017 and I honestly have not been the same since, it changed my entire perspective on life generally

Loved the playthrough, Emma. Have you ever considered playing Pentiment? It's a choices-and-consequences adventure game in the same vein, covering some of the same themes (grief, class struggle, ghosting your friends), albeit more grounded, in a different setting (16th century Bavaria) and more adult than coming of age. The dialogue isn't voiced though so you'd be doing a lot of reading aloud

Before playing LiS2 you definetly should play life is strange: Before the storm! :) And when you're ready to move on to Lis2, you should play captain spirit episode first (it's free on steam) It's not super important but it does help establish a character that will appear in lis2.

Really loved the series, it was my first time experiencing the game so I got punched in the gut right along with you. Cried quite a few times. Though I didn't have a similar high school experience either, it still felt like there were a lot of touchstones I could relate to. Definitely felt the same on the topic of emotional maturity, I feel like this game has helped push me to be more proactive with that kind of stuff. Excited for the upcoming content!

I'd suggest playing Life is Strange: Before The Storm + the Farewell DLC before going for Life Is Strange 2 just because LiS2 departs completely from the first game, with a new set of characters and etc. BTS is still set in Arcadia Bay and expands on the story of the original a little bit but you do you, of course! All of the games have little connections with each other so you'll always be finding little easter eggs and stuff and they're all worth your time. I totally recommend a second playthrough of LIS1 when you're ready or at least look up Max's journal online, it's very enlightening on a lot of aspects! love you emma xo

Once again, I STRONGLY suggest you get Life is Strange: Before the Storm the original version and NOT the remastered version. The Remastered version just has too many bugs (most are not major... but you still lose out) Here is the full rundown of all the Life is Strange Games! Life is Strange (5 Eps) - The original! Life is Strange: Before the Storm (3 eps) - Set 3 years before Life is Strange where you play as Chloe (at 16) Life is Strange: Farewell (1 ep) - A bonus episode that comes with Before the Storm where you play Max at 13 when you have to tell Chloe you're leaving to Seattle. The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit (1 ep) - A mini episode where you play 9 year old Chris who likes to imagine himself as the superhero Captain Spirit. It is connected to Life is Strange 2 and while it is a new story with new characters, there are Easter Eggs that remind you you're in the same world. Life is Strange 2 (5 eps) - Play as 16 year old Sean Diaz in Seattle, Washington, who has to confront terrible and unexpected events. Life is Strange: True Colors (5 Eps) - A new story where you play as 21 year old Alex Chen who has been in the foster care system and is finally reuniting with her brother in Haven Springs, Colorado. Replaying it now for the zillionth time. Played it on release and connected so much with it, and it’s probably still to this day in my top 3.

Life is strange is an experience I will never forget. It was a game that made me really appreciate the importance of all the details that go into games like the music and atmosphere that take them to another level. It helped make me want to be better with keeping in touch with friends and make sure the people in my life know that I care about them. I see several other people have brought up the play order for the other Life is Strange games but I just want to say that you absolutely need to play Before the Storm and particularly the bonus episode.

I really enjoyed your LiS playthrough Emma! I found your channel the day you posted episode 1 of the Walking Dead and it gave me a good excuse to relive the story. Same with this, it was great You’ll probably get told this a bunch but LiS Before the Storm is the prequel to the first game, LiS 2 and True Colours are separate stories. Highly recommend playing them all, obviously but when you start LiS 2 don’t forget the pre-game episode, it’s really good too

Life is Strange didn’t click with me at first. I found the first episode quite boring and I wasn’t going to play the second one. I’m glad I did because this game in its whole is a masterpiece. It took me places that I didn’t expect it to go, and it made me really emotional as well, even though I didn’t thought games could do that to me. I’ve not played Life is Strange 2, but I have played both Before the Storm and True Colors. None of those were developed by Dontnod, but they are fine. Thanks for playing this on the channel. It was a treat to re-experience it with you.

It is definitely heartwarming too and for me it broke my heart as much as LIS 1 😊 LIS True Colours doesn’t have that many fans and is not as popular, but it’s more like an experience, also has a great storyline, the music is crazy good and the art in it… just wow!
