The "cap" is called a mute, most commonly used on trumpets, but trombonists use them frequently enough too, different types of mutes create different sounds. The band completely nailed the New Orleans dirge style in this cover, love every second of it and of course Hailey's remarkable voice and performance!
By the way, the music style is "New Orleans Dirge" (a dirge is a song played at a funeral) and Haley's dress is New Orleans Saints colors. Such fun attention to the little details.
In an age where it feels like every new young female singer is trying to do that same voice, Haley is one of the few who has perfected it and makes it sound absolutely natural. She really is both the real deal and next-level.
@@stevenrogers8313 You know what? True dat. There are a few who are nailing that vibe. I mean, Haley's got her own lil' spin on it and Angelina a slightly different one but they're both amazing.
hey Alice are you the same person as " Nobel prize " ( different account ) the ANGELINA JORDAN TROLL of many names.i will pray you resolve your ANGELINA JORDAN TROLL OBSESSED BEHAVIOUR 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Her singing Creep and Morgan James singing Dream On are 2 other must see, to be honest everything they do is amazing. All About the Bass is another really good one. Edit: The horn sound is done by using a muffle, basically what you said a cap that they close off some of the horn.
Fun fact: The "wah-wah" tone from the trumpet is from a mute placed in the horn of the trumpet. Another fun fact: Trombones can use mutes as well, but the most common ones are actually just a plunger head (yeah, as in toilet plunger -the cheap, red rubber ones from Home Depot).
Haley really pulls off the Southern N.O> sound, yet she's from the Chicago area. Not just a singer, but a vocal meistro. Even did a voice for an animation! Love this gal.
Jack White says...."you better sing, girl!"........now I know what my parents listened to in the 1940's-50's.....the horns use a "mute" in the bell of the horn to get that jazz tone
Love your reactions! I'm a big PMJ fan and started following your channel after your reaction to PMJ's Dream On with Morgan James. I'd encourage you to react to some more Haley/PMJ covers! Creep... Don't Speak... Black Hole Sun. All amazing!
I love Haley Reinhart. If you really want to see a showcase of her talent react to PMJ's cover of "Creep" with Haley. Her voice is so amazingly versatile.
"Creep" was the first song I saw from Haley Reinhart and PMJ and, man, she absolutely SLAYS that one. You mentioned how perfect her vocal movement was throughout this song but her performance of "Creep" takes that to a different level with so many parts, colors, vibes, and even a cheeky little R&B run tucked in the middle of a line (not-so-coincidentally on the lyric "run"). I love PMJ and especially the performances with Haley but "Creep" is def my fave from this collab.
If you haven't done their version of "Creep"...It's vocal artistry at the highest. No one can just stand and deliver emotion through her voice like Haley. Her vocal tool kit is massive. PMJ takes modern songs and spins them back in time stylistically.. Great reaction. Her original "I Don't Know How to Love You" is in a 60's style blues rock style that is killer.
That was a fun reaction guys. Thanks! Haley Reinhart is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with Postmodern Jukebox. In fact, she is also the best thing that ever happened to Postmodern Jukebox as well. As prior to Haley's arrival, all PMJ ever played were tiny venues and cheap dives. Then after Haley arrived and quickly recorded several music videos that all went viral, suddenly PMJ found themselves filling coliseums and arenas. Meanwhile, I really highly recommend you guys react to Haley Reinhart and PMJ's super cover of Radiohead's "Creep". Why? Well, because it stayed on the Billboard Digital Jazz Chart for 58 straight weeks and it is also the first music video on PMJ's very extensive RU-vid music channel to surpass over 100 million views. Indeed, it's out of this world. Other must react to chill bump inducing Haley Reinhart with PMJ covers are "Don't Speak", "Oops, I Did It Again", "Habits", and "All About That Bass". Thanks for reacting to Haley's stuff and keep them coming.
To add to PMJs (Scott Bradley) incredible ability to transform genres, see their Strokes cover of "Last Nite". I was unfamiliar with the original grunge tune, so check it out first, then watch what PMJ does to it. A few "tongue in cheek" surprises in store, as always with PMJ. I never seen anyone do a reaction to this one.
Great reaction guys! Haley with PMJ are a match made in heaven! She takes this classic song and gives it a jolt of sexiness and Marilyn Monroe vibes. A really good vocalist! On a side note, you have a couple of Angelina Jordan trolls here on your page. They are going by the name of Alice and the Black Dog. They have left many negative comments about her, going from one AJ reactor to another. The comments are some times really nasty and uncalled for. We know Angelina has been getting a lot of attention of late, but that's no reason to be so negative and try to take away people from her. You have the ability to block these reactors, but the choice is up to you. Please continue your ongoing support of both of these great artists! Thank you!
Ok, TWO songs you need to hear...Creep by Post Moder Jukebox Ft Haley and Don't Speak by the same. IN THAT ORDER! I NEVER thought she could outdo Creep which is one of the best vocals i've ever heard (and i am a massive Pentaholic, so it almost hurts to say that, lol) but don't speak had me bliwn away and on my feet with amazement. I recommend that order because while Creep is amazing, they are very different in tone and feeling and i just think it would be easier to appreciate Creep more if done first. Don't speak is a blow your socks off song, so is Creep but in a more....subdued way. Not sure i am getting my point across how i mean it but also do not want to give any spoilers. The way you reacted to this tho, i thimk you might faint from shock from these two songs!🤣
I'm with many other comments below creep by pmj with Hailey is out of this world and the most viewed pmj release for a reason! Also look at Madd world by pmj.
Beyond talented her style n natural swag or whatever you wanna call it…she is one of the sexiest women in the freakin world!! I think even straight girls get crushes on her!! Lol
You're both Absolutely Correct 💯 %‼️ Hailey's hand gestures are a well thought out choreography that go in unison with how & what she is singing. Not unlike a Conductor at a Classical Symphony, when she raises her hands, the band gets louder, down for softer, &... straight out to her sides when the instruments need to drop out completely, leaving "JUST" her vocals for the desired effect. The Sultry hands on her hips and flicking back of her hair are a deliberate attempt at bringing out that "Jessica Rabbitt" vibe. Needless to say, her vocal range from subtle to powerful is Astonishing‼️🤘🎼🎵🎶🎸🎤🎙
Next, you need to watch Haley and PMJ do Radiohead's Creep and then also Black Hole Sun. Finally, Love Fool, Ooops I Did it Again and the really cool Mad World with Puddles Pity Party (a sad clown). Another absolute great performance is with her, Morgan James and Ariana Savalas on It's All About That Bass. She is also a classic rocker too (her parents have a rock band), she has killed on American Idol with House of the Rising Son, Bennie and the Jets and Led Zeppelin's What is and What Should Never Be. She has performed with Slash and Myles Kennedy and Robbie Kriger of the Doors. One of her favorite songs is Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home and she does a great version with her dad on guitar at Chess Records.
Please skip Mad World, as there is nothing whatsoever special about their vocals. The only thing that is unique about that very corny video, is Haley is hidden behind a big ugly clown.
