Post Modern Jukebox is the brainchild of the piano player... Scott Bradlee. They do LOTS of very cool songs with a bunch of different singers... but the all-time best, which blows this out of the water, is "Creep" featuring Haley Rinehart. It's amazing. Must react to.
Scott Bradlee is amazing..He arranges all the music and utilizes such talented people .Be careful this is a deep fun rabbit hole. "Creep" with Haley Rinehart is a must
@@markbell4982 I am not a fan of that song in its original form, so I paid very little attention to the PMJ version. I have heard it, maybe I need to listen again.
@@markbell4982 whats not to love about PMJ? Scott is a world class arranger of music, and he gets the best musicians/singers to perform his arrangements. Morgan is the best singer on the planet.
@@roywall8169 you definitely should listen to it again imo. I had never heard of the song until I heard Morgan do it. She caused me to look it up and I was surpeised what a trash song it was. I might have to disagree with you a bit on Morgan having the best voice on the planet though. She definitely has the lungs and the power, but I much prefer the uniqueness of her fellow PMJ performer, Haley. See ya in the next TW reaction if not sooner.😁
@@markbell4982 ah, but I didn’t say Morgan had the best voice. I said she is the best singer. Semantics I know, but an important distinction. Haley is very good.
I've seen PMJ live 6 times and it was fantastic every single time. They have enough people in their ensemble to be able to do multiple tours in parallel AND create new videos. So MUCH skill. And Scott Bradlee's arrangements are fantastic. The creativity in all of this is mindblowing. As for Morgan: I've seen her as a solo artist in a small club and she's the first artist I've seen that had to stop their show multiple times because she was getting standing ovations. At one point she stood there, completely speechless, just smiling, enjoing it all and after people would not stop clapping she said: "There's more, you know that, right?" which was greeted with even more applause. She's a fantastic singer and a very sweet person. After the show everybody, and I mean literally everybody in the audience, had the chance to get stuff signed and have a short chat with her. My favorite PMJ feat. Morgan song is Maps, a Maroon5 cover. Also check out her and Haley Reinhart doing Dear Prudence together with Morgan's hubby, Doug Wamble. And if you want to go down the PMJ rabbit hole, I'm here for it. So much great stuff to check out
You absolutely must react to Post Modern Jukebox doing Creep, featuring Haley Reinhart. Also, Morgan and Haley along with Ariana Savalas on All About That Bass with Post Modern Jukebox. Not to take anything away from Morgan who is great, but Haley is so amazing. I can't get enough of Haley. She has some rock roots too being the daughter of parents in a rock band and she does classic rock songs as well as jazz and her own originals.
Morgan James is a trained opera singer from Juilliard, New York, and she can sing anything!! She could sing the freaking phone book and it would be nothing but amazing.
One of the things I love about all the PMJ stuff... I’ve first got the original Aerosmith version of this song, on vinyl, when it first came out... the version you just heard, is the first time I got all the lyrics right!
Love, everything they do, , , Morgan, , ohhhhMY! So, yeah, Morgan, Haley, cool stuff. This is my favorite cover of Dream on. And that was my era. Thanks
Morgan James is a true American Treasure. Her stuff alone is a fantastic rabbit hole to get lost in. One of my favorite PMJ numbers is "All About That Bass" but anything/everything of theirs is great.
This is kind of a blasphemy for me, being a huge Aerosmith fan for years, but I think this is the best version of the song 😱 And I don't even understand how Morgan James could sing like that, it's out of this world, she's a freaking alien or what? and the arrangement of it is so elegant and clever and the performance of the band so on point...
They do have CDs and they feature different singers. Morgan does have her own career as do most of their featured singers, I believe. I will push Haley Reinhart some more and in addition to Creep, Haley's versions of Seven Nation Army, Oops I Did it Again and Love Fool are all great. Also, for an acoustic laid back treat, Morgan and Haley do a great duet on the Beatles Dear Prudence. Haley also sings the Stones song Wild Horses with Slash and Myles Kennedy.
Good news, they have done hundreds of these! PMJ featuring Haley Reinhart is another jawdropper, her version of Creep is maybe the best vocal performance on the internet. Awesome reaction, thanks for sharing! But I cant believe you havent done Angelina Jordan yet... I put a spell on you (black and white version) or Bohemian Rhapsody from AGT are both certified to blow your minds and attract her lovely horde of fans💖
PMJ's modus operandi is taking pretty much anything and putting a vintage spin on it. PMJ is the brainchild of Scott Bradlee, the guy at the piano. He does all of the arrangements and most of the instrumentalists and vocalists are guest performers. Should checkout "Creep", Seven Nation Army and "All About That Bass". Edit: And "Royals" featuring Puddles Pity Party. Morgan James studied opera at Julliard. She is best known for musical theater and jazz. She has released several albums one of which is her interpretation of The Beatles White Album.
Other than Creep, with Haley Reinhart, the most underrated PMJ magic is Sweet Meg /PMJ covering Last Nite by The Strokes. I've seen no reactions to it yet. Had to go and hear the original grunge-ish version to fully appreciate Scott Bradley's genius. Watch for a few twists. You'll thank me later.
React to Postmodern Jukebox version "Seven nation army", or "Creep" with Haley Reinhart . She is stunning too. And Morgan James "Maps" or "Take me to church".
You need to check out Morgan's cover of "Melissa" by the Allman Bros. among several dozen other covers she absolutely slays. She could sing the phone book and make it hot.
Hi, In the sixties, the italian star Mina sang the telephone book (not the whole book, right), live performance on TV, sadly, not recorded or filmed, but I still remember. Been a kid, but it was unforgettable.
Postmodern has done more than 100 covers transforming songs to styles indicative of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Creep is the best cover of them all, but other fun ones are Bad Romance, Thriller, All About That Bass and Umbrella, just to name a few.
She does do her own thing. Check her out with Marc Broussard who is an outstanding vocalist himself. The thing that I love about Morgan is, she is not some whiney, breathy, girly girl. This woman has a voice that says I am a powerful woman and I rule the world I walk through. By the way PMJ takes all kinds of modern music and doe it in some older style and they feature many different artists. The piano player, Scott Bradelee, is the brainchild of PMJ and he deservers tons of credit for is amazing abilities to arrange music not to mention his talent on piano.
This song was released on June 1973 -How old does a song have to be for you to call this a recent one? After 48 years I think we can accept this song as a Classic today. (P.S.) I was born in 1973 & "the lines on my face have gotten clearer", for sure!
Very insightful on how you hear it differently. Steven Tyler is great of course, but I find, and maybe you found too, that you really hear the lyrics more on this version. Morgan James acknowledges that - she is very much into the writing and tries to do absolute justice to the lyrics; to tell the story. And she really does that. And her voice is, of course, stunning.
PMJ version of Seven Nation Army featuring Haley Rinehart has to done by you guys! Please, please...looking forward to it! Post Modern Jukebox does all types of songs, eras, and featuring many artists. They also your. 😉
Aerosmith version is classic, but this version will be played at my funeral. Morgan James has lots of covers on her RU-vid channel. recommended: "Lay Down Sally" or Simply Red's 'If you don't know me by now." For more PMJ with Morgan, check out their cover of MAPS or All about the bass.
Morgan has her own RU-vid channel. Check it out. She studied opera at Juilliard, but found it too rigid of a discipline. She did not like the constraints put on the students. Opera is a very closed art form. Her breath control technique is due to her time there, her insane abilities are a result of her working to expand on classical techniques, but with rock/pop and jazz flairs. After Juilliard, she performed on broadway for a bit, and even had a record deal (I think). Now she just performs with her husband, and tours on occasion with Post Modern Jukebox.
She did actually complete her bachelor's degree in opera performance, so I would never say it was beyond her ability to stay disciplined. I would say opera wasn't her niche. She's a hell of a vocal artist.
@@roywall8169 - If you search, there are some YT clips of Morgan singing opera! She doesn't do it very often, but even with her moving more to jazz and soul, it's pretty obvious that she's a phenomenal talent as she slips into operatic style just as easily as she slips into soul and blues. If you ever get a chance to see her perform live, it will be worth every dollar of your ticket's purchase price and then some!
Would love to see you react to more Postmodern Jukebox. In particular "MMMbop (Doo Wop Version) - 1950s Style Postmodern Jukebox Hanson Cover" and "Halo - Vintage Motown Style Beyonce Cover ft. LaVance Colley". Mindblowingly cool. ^_^
PMJ has hundreds of these, most of which are better than good, and some of which are stunning. Like this one. You should also check out "Creep" as others have mentioned, but also their cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy", featuring Hannah Gill (who was all of 19 years old when they made it) and Casey Abrams. Totally transformed into a smooth Jazz standard. Another great one featuring Morgan is a cover of Maroon 5's "Maps" (I find the original to be an over-produced autotuned headache. PMJ's version is everything it should have been. Actually a pretty good song.) Morgan has done many songs on her own. One of my favorites is her cover of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" which is both faithful to and totally unlike the original. Very funky. She is a Julliard-trained Opera singer, and appeared on Broadway as Teena Marie in "Motown: The Musical". She does have albums and music of her own.
Welcome to the PMJ Rabbit hole... if you like current songs they do going retro by them check out "Wannabe" (spicegirls) in the Andrew sisters style. Also Robyn Adele Anderson collaborations with them. she adheres to the retro 40 styles in her everyday life
They have multiple CDs (all on Spotify I belive), their own RU-vid channel, and website. They use various different lead vocalists and musicians sometimes, though the core band is often the same few guys..as mentioned below, Haley Reinhart doing "Creep" is an absolute must!
Man Morgen James is incredible. such a tiny person and such powerfull voice. she is just an amazing vocalist. If you wanna have a little more fun with her, listen to Morgans version of Barby Girl, she kills that song to :)
Morgan James is my favorite PMJ singer but if it is attitude you want, you need to see some of their work with Hailey Rinehart. 7 Nation Army and Creep are so filled with attitude that it's almost unbelievable.
Postmodern band is very blues driven, and Hailey Reinhart does amazing songs with them, also this artist has couple others, like Sledgehammer for instance.
This and Creep featuring Haley Reinhart are my two favorite PMJ covers. Seven Nation Army is great too. Do some more of these; your audience will love it!
Other songs from Postmodern Jukebox to consider: Take Me To Church (Morgan James), everything with Haley Reinhart (Creep, Seven Nation Army, Black Hole Sun, Lovefool, etc), and Khia Victoria (All of Me).
