Roger Corman will always be remembered as the B movie King but he was also the guy who introduced us to new actors and directors who later on became very successful.

Such a charming guy, and a pleasure to listen to. Also, the interviewer really seems to have done his research, he knows all about Corman's films and the films of Corman's influences.

Mick Garris is also a director, so he's got a great idea of how to get info from Roger.

Watching his old early scary movies (many of them very cheesy!) you never would have thought the director was as well spoken etc as Roger is. I love his old films even the cheesy ones!

ROGER CORMAN STARTED AT THE BOTTOM, NOW HE'S HERE.

Roged Corman is significant in the amount of success with his business model spread out over decades, with different distributors. There have been penny pinching film producers the world over but, the sheer amount of quality talent from the top down that he worked with is staggering. Most of that talent shined through in the stuff they worked on with Corman but, not always. When you break down just how much of the output was made due to cost saving procedures like shortened shoots, settings shot for different movies at the same time, stock footage, etc. it's easy to see that format wouldn't work for everyone. I don't doubt working under that M.O. helped each filmmaker in the long run since not every production will have the money to cover mistakes, environmental issues, casting changes, re-shoots, etc.

I know this was posted years ago, but he looks great. Super sharp, too. Doing what you love clearly pays off, but it helps, of course, if you do it as smartly as he has done. So you can make it sustainable. Also, the fact that this soft-spoken, humble man has made over a hundred movies and found success, is a nice counterpoint to mainstream Hollywood’s ego-driven failures and rampant abuses of the real talent. Not just of the aspiring actors, but the SFX houses and other firms they partner with on deeply one-sided contractual terms. Don’t screw over your business partners, is the rule in the business world. But it’s completely lost on the big studios.

I think Romero (and a few others) took a cue from Cormon on hints of political satire without shoving it down peoples throats.

Romero didn't get that later on in his life.

Roger Corman started his career directing and producing low budget from the 1950s to the 1960s. He served in the military and went to college on the G.I Bill where studied engineering. He is a film maker as well. He worked for American International Pictures ( AIP ) The only movie studio this produced A and B movies. Mostly B movies. The movie studio that ever movies of every genre. His career really kicked off in the 1960s. He also acted in a few movies. Roger German did teenage flicks in the 1950s. Also he produced a few low budget movies in the 1970s and also produced and directed some exploitation movies.. He did western movie genres and horror genes, SciFi genres. He is mostly known for making horror and SciFi genres. Corman appeared in the 1980 horror movie The Howling, he was the man in the phone booth . Also he appeared in the 1993 movie Body Bags with actor John Agar as eye surgeons. Corman did the 1980 cult classic horror movie, Humanoids From The Deep, now renamed, Monster. He has done movies for the SciFi TV Network in the 1990s - 2010. He wrote a book titled; My Life's B Movie. He also received The Lifetime Achievement Award. That what's best describes Roger Corman .When it comes to making movies. He was a rebel back in the day.

He seems very honest about what he does and why which is interesting. He makes movies to make money, but appears to have fun doing it anyways. Kind of like a guy who gets paid to do his hobby. I often wonder if George Lucas would of been similar if he had not hit it off with Star Wars. He is another guy who seems to be in it for the money, but does want to enjoy the process of making a movie.
