My guy suggested that you can screw the clean water bottle on tight and back flush your filter that way. We use the same set up . One less thing to carry and take the chance of loosing. Keeping myself hydrated is an issue I have and my guy keeps on me about it. Love your videos I always learn something new, keep them coming. You gals rock!!

I appreciate all the work you put into this! I relate to you three far more than any other hiker folks I’ve seen on RU-vid. I’m a 40yo single mama with two kiddos, so I especially appreciate the frugal nature of your gear. You all rock, Wander Women!

Thanks for the great information. I hope to be in the at class of 2022. My stroke in2018 has me using a wheelchair since. So for me it's a therapy hike.

totally agree on air mattresses.... if you blow it too hard it’s like sleeping on a plank... when i blow up mine it’s quite soft but once you lay on it the air pressure goes up and it’s perfectly comfortable.. great advice thanks 👍👍

Thank you for such an informative video about gear. I have written down all the brands and hints for my backpacking granddaughter. I'm sure it will be helpful to her, and some great gift ideas for me to buy her. I will certainly tell her to watch this video and also #2. The great thing about the info in the video is that you have used the equipment so long. It has proven itself to be really good stuff. I think I'll try the Hoka shoes myself. Take care, be safe.

I learned what s-curve straps are for, how to use the foot pocket on a quilt properly, and the right way to use the gravity method for a Sawyer Squeeze.

Luv that you used what you have been using for years & it worked for thru hike. Still shocks me how expensive it is to live in a tent & walk! Only do day hikes but use keen whisper shoes & mini sawyer. Like the shoes so much that wear em to work as i have to walk all day! Think Pesky attracted to hiking gear, maybe they make a spray for that!

Great video!!! I have a ULA Circuit and I love it, like you said it is really comfortable and tough. However, I just bought a Arch Blast because of the weight and arch, I am hoping it will take care of the pack getting so wet against my back with sweat and helping with less weight. I hope I am not sorry because I do love the pack. Loved your sleeping system!!! Thanks again, can't wait for the next one!!!❤❤❤

I know this video is a few years old and you’ve completed your triple crown now. It just goes to show you can be successful with any gear so long as you think it through and know how to use it properly. Mine one comment on the MSR HH tent is that the water- proofing on older tents is different than today in that they were laminate over-lays versus impregnated within the material today. So those old laminates deteriorate over time a can fail. The tent may look fine, but still completely fail in the rain.

I have been wearing Hoka One One trail shoes for years. They totally enabled me to hike. I tried all sorts of shoes, trail runners, hiking shoes/boots, everything. Some of them literally had me in tears. The moment I put on the Hoka One One I was able to hike. I have never tried the altra and I too have wide feet. Am considering getting a pair, as a matter of fact will be ordering a pair to see. But...I have a hard time seeing anything working any better for me than the Hoka One One. However, I do want to give the others a try just to make sure I am not missing out on even more comfort. My feet still hurt, but huge, huge, huge difference.

This video is great.....three experienced backpackers really telling us what they think....It's worth more than a dozen bubbly 20-something wannabe "chick" hiker videos. Thank you for sharing all your gear know-how and what worked for you. Thanks for taking the time to help us.

Another nice thing about the blue coupler is that you can also use it rather than the syringe for back flushing. For this it has to be tight on your clean water bottle and you squeeze the clean water back through to flush it.

Thank you for your gear review it is very informative and helped me with a few adjustments for my own kit. Lynn, do you have any advice for setting up the Nemo on a tent platform as it isn't a totally free standing tent?

Great video! Thanks for equipment info and discussion. I'm planning an AT Thru-hike this year, starting mid-March. I was going to start with my 0 degree Marmot bag, but it is very bulky. I'd love to just take my 30 degree Western Moutaineer bag and add a Bivy sack. I'll give it try?

You liked those mugs? Ive heard good and bad. I dehydrate and rehydrate my own food and use a Thermos Food Jar which is heavier but keeps food hot a long time while it rehydrates. Would the cup thing you have keep food hot for up to 30 minutes while it rehydrates do you think? And did the lid stay on pretty well (I've had some people report their lid kept falling off). Anyway...love you three!
@wanderwomenkristyannette5021

I'm not sure how that would work for food, they are well insulated. The lid did not pop off.

couple of questions when you get a minute.... did you ever have situations where you weren't able to scoop the water into the bag to filter? we came across some water sources that just weren't deep/big enough to scoop. And when you slept in shelters, did you ever have mice join you inside your silk liner or sleeping bag?
@wanderwomenkristyannette5021
@wanderwomenkristyannette5021 4 года назад
We did have to scoop water a couple of times. But someone had left a scoop. We did not have any problems with mice.

I was looking online...and some of the reviews mentioned condensation. Did you have that issue? My 20 degree quilt is down so I was curious about condensation being an issue. Was about to purchase one...but...??
@wanderwomenkristyannette5021
@wanderwomenkristyannette5021 4 года назад
We didn't deal with condensation but other people did. Maybe certain tents are a problem. Not sure.

@@wanderwomenkristyannette5021 OK, now here's a question... have you ever heard of the Rab Hooded Vapour Barrier Liner? I am assuming this is to put your bag into, to keep water from condensation from getting your sleeping bag wet during the night..... I came across this at Moosejaw with a dot and a com.
