Post Vatican 2 "A Time of Great Turmoil" w/ Cardinal Burke 

I left my 28 year career as a protestant, with 15 of those being a pastor, for the Catholic Church in 2022 on Mother’s Day. Best decision I’ve ever made. Will never abandon the church.

In the 1940s, and 1950s Catholic schools were FREE- just had a monthly envelope for donation to the school fund.. Nuns taught.

Vatican II is by far not the only Ecumenical Council to have “great turmoil” after it is held. It’s common for schismatics to believe they know more than Peter and the bishops in communion with him.

Even though there are problems with abuses & irreverence in the Polish church the NOM liturgy, unlike in the West, remained generally reverend. At least in the part of Poland where I live the comunion is just distributed on the tongue, the organs are used (no guitars), my first communion was beautiful with kneeling, the parts of the Mass done reverently as far as NOM goes, use of incense, no altar girls etc. For an example of extremly beautiful Polish NOM I recomend watching Pasterka 2020 on the Archdiocese of Kraków channel. Although I did talk to people who actually argued that the Mass should be more like the Gospel music to be more "fun". Sigh. The Church also remained generally conservative, strongly opposed to i.e. abortion. Interesting fact is that modernism in Poland is very often most represented by the Dominicans among the orders. At the same time there is quite falling away from those who identify as Catholics (it is around 70% now), the attendance in churches remains similar.

Crying shame we got away from the Baltimore Catechism.Severely watered down now.

Burke is awesome

I converted to Catholicism only to discover that it wasn’t Catholic anymore. I was converted because of the Saints and Bishop Fulton Sheen and Mary and the beauty and the history and richness of the Church. And then I go into a V2 Church and I don’t find the “Religion” I was sold on. For new converts this feels like a bait and switch and it’s really strange that cradle Catholics don’t get it. Don’t you see it’s not Catholic? It’s so obvious to a convert. I’m a convert from a Jehovah’s Witness background by the way. I had an idea of what Catholics were and did, not exactly but I knew what the aesthetics were. I was shocked to see the Church not as beautiful as in the movies and in documentaries but like a Baptist church and be advised by Priests against what I just learned and was confirmed in from my Baltimore Catechism. It’s disorienting. And then what makes it worse, because I only wanted the Religion I was sold and signed up for, the V2 Catholics accuse me of being “schismatic “. I didn’t even know what that was?! Huh? Gaslighting. Imagine ordering a steak after being sold how delicious it is and then being served a bologna sandwich. And when you say, “Hey. You just sold me the steak remember? It sounded amazing. I wanted that. Why did you bring me this bologna sandwich?” And the waiter says, “Well, the menu changed. We don’t serve steak here anymore even though five minutes ago we did. Things changed just now and it’s wrong to make steak and it’s wrong to serve steak and it’s wrong to want a steak. In fact it seems you like steak and becoming a problem around here. You’re making us uncomfortable and think you should leave immediately. You are not welcome here anymore. You snob!” Old NO Catholic friends soft shunned me after leaving for the SSPX. Ummm JW much guys?

I would LOVE to know what Cardinal Burke thinks of Covid confirmations using an implement and violating cannon law….

Nietzsch "God Was Dead" - the churches were locked. Thank you, Father Tom Lorenza. The married laity tried to intervene with small groups of "Charismatic renewal"l but was often stopped.. Imagine living today with only a 1/2 hour radio show - no Catholic radio, no EWTN, no Catholic Answers, or No RU-vid.. It was not about the Magisterium teaching. as much as there was no counter-support system..

It’s the Missal of 1962, not the Latin Mass. Use its real name and it is easier to see there were missals before it.

There is only turmoil since Vatican II because Catholics refuse to accept Magisterial teaching...an ecumenical council!...with docility of heart and mind, as we are called to do.

Vatican II was too sunshiny about Islam having the God of Abraham while the Koran explicitly denounces God having a Son. But Vatican II was more orthodox than the last three Popes on their being servants of Scripture…. Dei Verbum, Chapter II, section 9 concerning the Magisterium
“This teaching office is not above the word of God, but serves it, teaching only what has been handed on..”. Then the last three Popes totally contradicted Romans 13:4 on the death penalty by changing the meaning of deterrence to mean only deterring the murderer you caught. That saved them the 4 years our Supreme Court took to do deterrence data. China is 40 times safer against murder than Catholic, no execution Brazil…..both countries have millions of poor (unlike Europe). So Vatican II was unrealistic in its optimism about Islam and Pope Francis still is. But Vatican II insisted unlike three recent Popes that Romans 13:4 was inspired by God…. Dei Verbum Chapter III section 11 you’ll find: “ For holy mother Church, relying on the belief of the Apostles (see John 20:31; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-20, 3:15-16), holds that the books of both the Old and New Testaments in their entirety, with all their parts, are sacred and canonical because written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they have God as their author…” No my friends….Vatican II right there told me three Popes had a cafeteria approach to Romans 13:4..” But if you do evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword without purpose; it is the servant of God to inflict wrath on the evildoer.” And inflicting that wrath gives China 9000 murder victims a year while Brazil has 40,000 murder victims per year with 1/7th the population of China.

I pray for the well being of the Catholic Church. However, after attending the Catholic Church for 25 years with my Italian wife, never once did I think about joining this Christian institution. When I retired, I found a freestanding, non-denominational evangelical church, and then enthusiastically joined that Christian institution. Just as it was impossible for church members to get rid of the heretical Pope Alexander the sixth, the current pope is also firmly entrenched in his position. Worrisome indeed!
