I moved into this beautiful home and one day I woke up to loud banging on the door and something screaming through it. Few days later I was slapped awake. Both times I rolled over and went back to sleep 😂 I was too tired to care and sleep won by a mile 😂.
Hell is a “severe mercy” for those persons (angels and humans) that want nothing to do with God. You choose to reject God, well, so be it, but that is also the rejection of all goodness, beauty, and pleasure which find their subsistence in God. In eternity, nothing and no one can escape the presence of God, Who is Love; but for those who hate God, their experience of His omnipresence (Love) will be to them Hell.
I was raised a Catholic, until…I actually seriously started to read the Bible. We can read in Scriptures that Lord Jesus commanded the Apostles to first preach the Gospel to the Jews, and after also to the Heathen or Gentiles (but never vise versa!). I found out in Scriptures who of the Apostles for the first time went to Rome .. and it wasn't Peter. In the Book of Acts it says in Chapter 28 the following: 16 "And when we came to Rome, the Centurion delivered the Prisoners to the Captain of the Guard: but Paul was allowed to live in a house, by himself, with a Roman Soldier that kept him. 17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the Chief of the there living Jews together: and when they came together, Paul said to them: "Men and Brethren, though I have committed nothing against our people, our customs, or against our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans 18 who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of guild in me. 19 But when the Jews spoke against that verdict, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had made any accusations against my Nation. 20 For this Hope (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) therefore I have called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because for the Hope of Israel I am bound with these chains. 21 The Chief of the Jews said to Paul: "We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, neither any of the Brethren that came from there shewed or spoke any harm of you. 22 But we desire to hear of you what you think: for concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere". The Roman Catholic Church claims that it was Peter who went to Rome first to preach the Gospel there first and that it was Peter who founded the Church there. Question: who lies? God,... or the Roman Catholic Church ? And what about the Letter in the Bible from Paul to the Congregation of Galatians where it says this in Chapter 2? From verse 7 we read the following: 7 "But on the contrary, when they saw that the Gospel of the Uncircumcision (Gentiles) was committed unto me, as the Gospel of the Circumcision (Jews) was unto Peter; 8 for He that gave Peter power effectively to the Apostleship of the circumcision (again: the Jews), the Same was Mighty in me toward the Gentiles. 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the Grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we (that are Paul and Barnabas) should go unto the Heathen, and they unto the Circumcision. Again dear Catholics: who lies? Gods Word, or the Roman Catholic Church? Bible, the book of Acts, Chapter 5, verse 29 : Then Peter and the other Apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey GOD - rather than man” !! Since the Roman Catholic 'church' claims to be well-read on scriptures, then please point me in the direction of where in the Bible it says to pray to a woman, or with a rosary (praying to May: "Hail Mary full of grace...), or to dead “saints.” Please show me where it says to call any mortal sinful man (the pope) your father. Please show me where the Bible says anything about purgatory, or paying indulgences (buying yourself into heaven - is God corrupt ?). Please show me where Mary was sinless. Why is it that Catholics worship Mary still as a virgin when Lord Jesus had half brothers and half sisters? Please show me where it says to confess your sins to a fellow sinful man so that he may forgive them? Show me the name pope in the Bible? Where does the Bible say the pope is the “vicar of Christ” on earth? Show me where it says that a preacher must be unmarried? It was the pagan ROMAN Emperor Constantine who was in fact the first “Pope” and he didn't allow for the common people to have Bible Scriptures...to keep believers ignorant, as the Catholic Church still does. Later pope’s started the ‘inquisition’ because the book printing machine was invented and people like William Tyndale could spread the Bible to the common people: he was burned to dead for that, and so were hundreds others who did the same and because they denounced the VALSE doctrines of Rome, and they were called heretics and witches by the Roman Catholic “church”- they were tortured, burned to dead - and murdered !!! GET OUT OF THIS FALSE CHURCH !!! The Roman Catholic “church” is a continuation of the old Roman PEAGAN Empire: it never went away as it disguised itself as a Christian Church. Read Revelation, Chapter 17: verse 7 and 8…please read, dear brothers and sisters.
Wrong. I am not Christian but the following is dogmatically easy to understand. Christ has two natures. We have no divine nature. However, becoming like Christ means that we become like His human nature, pre fall humans. Confusing being in the image of god with being divine is wrong as being in the image of god is the definition of being human; anything else is an animal. Theosis is not becoming god but being with god. Think about it: an image of god can become god? No! Actually, what he says sounds very luciferian to me.
Deification, theosis... funny that not one of the blokes who hung out with Jesus talked that way. That's quasi-gnostic BS. John wrote a Gospel, three general epistles, and the final testimony of the Risen Christ to the Church. Somehow, he forgot to mention the woman whom Jesus committed to his care. I guess it slipped his mind. Slipped everyone else's mind, too. Peter forgot to tell Mark about Mary's special role. Matthew forgot to write it in. Paul and Luke must have skipped the orientation whem they joined. James, Mary's own step-son, didn't think it important to mention. Jude, who may also have been Mary's step-son, not a word about it.
Watched this with my Protestant hubby....who was enjoying it until Gabi said "Protestants don't understand Christianity", making him get up and walk out. Breaks my heart, because his testimony is amazing, and he is right that we were made for Theosis....but his message sounded offensive with that one sentence. Ugh.
This guy is wrong... they are not taking anything on faith, saying "I dont know but I am not going to believe in your explanation of god" is not taking things on faith.
I understand that sex has a marital meaning and that you can’t express it truthfully if you are not married, but I struggle to remedy the innate thought that since sex is also a language to express love to our partners, if the love is true, then it shouldn’t be a problem to express it in a non marital context, right? My partner and I currently struggling to address this situation. Would it be better to understand the marital commitment as the ultimate way to express love, and sex is the gift that is given to us by God?
I found this really helpful almost until the end. I am a Protestant - Episcopal church - and really thinking about converting. I found this very encouraging until I heard how comfortable Matt and Lila were about voting for Donald Trump. That was really disturbing to me. Trump is an advocate of many policies that would not be at all good for any child, including children that are not aborted. His character is so flawed, his interest in anti-abortion policies so politically driven, that I can only hope that many in the Catholic Church do not agree with you. Joe Biden is a devout Catholic who has supported abortion but many many of his other policies are good for children and families, which I think should be an important consideration.
Idk if i like the whoke out of our lane thing because im a physics PhD student that spends a lot of ky spare time studying theology to witness to the atheists and scientism if my day and i feel im well suited to do this
It's interesting that Jesus is sort of empirical about faith. "if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say unto this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and it would obey you." He often points to physical evidence to prove the veracity or his teachings (i.e. the evidence of his miracles). There is a pragmatic aspect to Jesus' descriptions of faith. If its faith in the right thing (right one), it will work.
👍Yes. Exactly. Jesus has come to teach us, to mentor us to be like him, like God. And to me, the mentorship is in the company of the Holy Spirit, mother Virgin Mary and our patron Saints (as our tailored guardian angels). What do you think of my view on the companionship?
God bless you both. Matt, your vulnerability is an inspiration to us all. Gabi, your conviction and true faith is inspiring. Thank you for sharing that tip at the end about the 20 second visualization between decades while meditating on the mystery.
Raymond Arroyo wrote a children’s picture book about this legend. it is called “the thief that stole heaven”. That is, if this is what you’re talking about
Matt, thank you for introducing me to Gabi. The two hours I watched the talk between you two, over a few days, were fruitful to my soul. I watched another before with one of my favorite people of all time, Peter Kreeft, and loved every minute as well. Thank you for these in depth talks that feed my soul and propel me toward fevor for my Lord and Lady.
Listen there's a lot of things wrong with the Protestant Church mostly the fact that most of them aren't Christian churches but Catholicism is not Christianity either.
Uh.. that was a nonsequitur, right? Jesus wants us to become Gods... Therefore, we should worship Mary? Btw, I have a more interesting question. How close to 'like god' do you have to get before you're not subject to the Pope?
This is unfair and deceptive. She explored some charismatic denominations, not Protestant denominations. If you're going to honestly look at Protestantism why didn't you look at any Reformed churches since they are the root of Protestantism?
We weren’t homeschooled. We went to Catholic K-8 and then a public high school (a pretty good one for public school standards). But our mom read aloud to us every night 🥰. Except when we had events that kept us out late lol
What it's clearly NOT about, for her, is the religion itself. _Doctrine_ has nothing to do with it. That means Faith and Belief have _nothing to do with it_ either. Just aesthetics. What this essentially means is that, for her, it IS just a rock concert, but she likes a different kind of music.
