Make a postage stamp quilt using your small pieces of fabric. Learn to sew this simple quilt. I made 16 patches using my colorful scraps and cream/light colored scraps. It is a great little project to use as a leader/ender in your sewing room!
Use 2" squares like I did...or go small (1 1/2" squares)...OR GO BIG!! (2 1/2" squares)
It may not be a TRUE postage stamp quilt....but it will be beautiful!

I need to get into the habit doing extra projects this way. Making 2 quilts at one time. I think this would be a great no stress sewing session. I need those from time to time.

I know I say this in just about every video of yours... but you are truly a gifted teacher! I was shaking my head at the simple explanation of "2 rows that look like this and 2 rows that look like this..." - I honestly did not see it that way. I would have been counting and saying, okay, now this one goes in the 3rd spot! :)

Thank you! Love the center cream. I will start one with black center as black accentuates all colors. My next will have white center line. Thank you.

Thanks for a simple and lovely approach to stash busting. I have been thinking of trying my hand at crumb piecing, but honestly, I like this approach much better. I am just not a lover of random sizes of scraps. Give me nice, orderly symmetry every time! :-)

My lightbulb moment was when you said you only need 2 arrangements of strips to get the diagonal of one color. It seemed magical when you turned the strips around and made the square.

I’ve made several postage stamp quilts and they are a wonderful way to use up scraps! What I like to do when possible is to sew strip sets together and then cut into the block size I’m using. I prefer 2.5” squares. From there, I sew the sets together. I usually alternate the color fabric and the white fabric but I really like the pattern you used as well. ❤ As always, thanks for sharing! You’re a great teacher.

I had to laugh at myself when you rotated the different strips 180*. I saw myself sewing 4 different configurations! This is a nifty idea. I have an Accuquilt cutter and I can cut 2.5” squares very quickly.

I love this! I'm a novice quilter, what do you mean when you say use as a leader and ender? How does it help with the threads?
@bethshibleyquilts
@bethshibleyquilts Год назад
There are a few reasons to begin with a scrap of fabric and end with a scrap. I googled and found a few articles on the topic. Among others things It saves thread and makes sewing each piece a little quicker.

OMG - Is than an actual Featherweight, card table like, sewing machine table ? ! ? ! I am waiting for my mean sister to die, so I can take back my set. Bought it in '66, while in high school, and when I graduated, got job, got apt., went back for my stuff, she and my mother informed me that I had abandoned it. Tough Luck ! Yup! 50 yrs and I AM still mad! (They did give me my bedroom set.)

@bethshibleyquilts

The past few years I have been trying to use the fabric I already have.🙂. I backed this queen sized quilt with 4 large chunks of fabric sewn together. Maybe I’ll visit that topic in the future.
