@@Hdgxx1you do know that there is a theory that the postal 1 dude is actually the dad of the postal 2 dude, that is why it says Dude on dad’s grave and the errand name literally says “dad” on it
It's interesting, i feel like it shows how insane the postal dude is. It's like we're in his mind completely, hearing hellish voices instead of the sound of wind blowing through the trees.
honestly, it makes you wonder if there was anything cut that would've made the game alot darker in tone like y'know, a somewhat more a sequel than the one we got. 'mean think bout it, the differences tween postal 1 and this are pretty bloody big that postal 2 feels more like a spinoff rather than a proper "sequel". though, I aint sayin its bad or anythin'. just odd. but anyways I'm probably just ramblin nonsense
Postal 2 just has this very... odd atmosphere to it, as if something just feels... off. I don’t think any other game has been able to capture the same atmosphere as Postal 2, there’s just something weirdly unique to it. The ambient noises combined with the surreality of the plot make this game feel like some sort of fever dream.
If you look at some of the alpha gameplay of Postal 2, it really gives off Postal 1 vibes. It has been speculated that Postal 2 was originally suppose to have a much darker atmosphere. It would still be funny, but it would have a strong emphasis on nihilism and insanity. Think of a more comedic Postal 1. The final game decided to emphasize comedy more, but still retained elements of its original design.
I was thinking that it would’ve had a similar vibe as the super delivery add-ons from postal 1 (EZ-Mart - La Palomino Resort). Where you could start to see elements of 2 start to blend in with postal 1.
The town is just uncanny. The rooms are complete and people walk around them. But nothing is lived in, nor interactable either. And when the people are dead/gone you are left with these liminal looking spaces
for some reason the fact that these audio files are from the early 2000's adds on to the creepiness, something about the 2000s is weird to me, I can't identify it. I watched my parents wedding tape from 2000 and something about it felt weird, it doesnt feel nostalgic, it just feels so old and strange to me, like its alien.
despite its comedy and obvious sarcasm in almost everything, postal 2 really is a fucking masterpiece. other then literally everything, the aesthetic really captures the feeling of the dude and his fucked up mind.
This game series is absolutely fucking horrifying (not counting the gameplay of Postal 3). I only think of every game after Postal 1 as some drug induced nightmares where he believes he's in a different reality that isn't the same as the one where he caused the shooting. It would probably explain why Postal 2, 3, and 4 are extremely odd when it comes to characters. Though some parts of his dreams faintly remind him of what he's done. Atleast, that's what I want to believe. If I'm being honest I think the devs just wanted to get rid of alot of shit and make it more satirical. Edit: So that was a fucking lie
I just personally think that Postal 2 is an ironic representation of what Postal Dude saw when he killed all these people, Postal Dude believed that people becomed insane, in Postal 1 people runned and helped the police to take the Dude down, but in Postal 2 the people are actually crazy and weird, and the Postal Dude is the most “normal” person, as he sawed himself in Postal 1.
Postal 1 was about him snapping because of his mental illness, going berzerk. Postal 2 is a cartoon. It's not a drug inducing trip, it is his psyche. He doesn't take any drugs except crack. Postal 1 and Postal 2 does not sport the same character. Atleast not from the same universe, as it's canonical that there are multiple P. Dudes.
Just randomly recommended by YT Algorithm. Yes, there's plenty of weird Ambient. The most noticeable is the one in the Asylum. I think there's some locations in the whole game where ambients just goes creepy and kinda feels out of place. Unlike most areas where its dead silent, where all you heard is just cat meowing or people insulting each other.
Fun fact: all these ambient noises come from a darker installment. (Postal 1, released in 1997) had super fuckin unsettling loading screens, loud as fuck menu theme, and just.. Horror. Oh and it’s also isometric.
And the demon appeared too just staring at you fucking scary. Weird ass loading screens and sounds. What a masterpiece. I came in my pants when I saw the eye appear at the end of Postal 4
Stuff like this that reminds you despite the goofiness and comedy you are still playing a murderous sociopath is what's missing from 4. Same thing with the npcs not becoming smoldering husks while they burn. 4 just doesn't have that grittiness that Postal needs to work.
Now post it's just a fan game, because the only one left in the RWS is Vince Daisy, so the game lost its uniqueness. I like the fact that postal is still alive compared to other older games and it is well maintained by the developers, but what is now called postal is not postal, but just a fan game.
the long ominous sewers that you had to go through with creepy ambient playing before entering the secret taliban base was the creepiest area in the game for me, especially during my 1st playthrough, you get this eerie feeling that something horrible is hiding inside the game or something
0:00 - Album: David Tarn's Pandora's Box (Sonic Foundry) - "Neptune Thrums His Drippy Fingers" (yes that's actually the title of that creepy ass sound).
Postal 2 is fun, but sometimes it feels eerie and disturbing. These sound much like Postal 1 loading screen sounds, or references from Postal 1. Really gives that edgy dark feeling.
Cool little detail, maybe its signaling that the dude sometimes feel the weight of his actions, but quickly goes back to crack and its all just sedated again, at least thats what i believe.
Use an .uax file extractor, then open the AmbientSounds.uax in "Sounds" folder (idk if that's the name of the file but is something like that) then you will find all the ambient sounds in the game.
Fun fact: in postal 2 there is a tunnel bhind the dudes trailer that opens on i think wednesday, its full of muslims and its quite hard if youre low on ammo, and health
I actually recognize alot of these noises. the first one was in HL2 and the others just seem to be random creepy stuff. (theres also train-noises heard at the Al-kahidas place which i also recognized from hl2.)
HL2 came out half a year after the postal was released, so I see no reason to say that it was taken from there. Moreover, half of the samples were also taken from the first game
looking into it on the game editor, it reveals its just below one of them, forgot which one in particular, but going to the cemetary on monday (through a missing invisible wall near the bank) you can kinda pinpoint which one it is in particular since there's only like three tombstones on that day
