📌Rod Brind'Amour speaks on tonight's 5:3 loss to the New York Rangers. WATCH MORE, SUBSCRIBE #nhlintrend #nhl #nhlplayoffs #regularseason #nhlHighlights
Rangers fan here - Rod is one hell of a coach. He got his team ready to play every night. Carolina was the toughest team I've seen the Rangers play in years.
Not a Canes fan but I respect the organization primarily because of Brind’amour. Pure class. Was a player you’d love to have on your team and has transitioned into the face of the organization. All around exceptional person. Nothing but respect for the guy.
Say whatever you want about this guy, but he has his guys playing their asses off every single game all year long. This is the toughest team to play against. Maybe not the most talented.
@@TillTheThrill19 yea their goaltending. Can have all studs but goaltending below average forget about it. Look at Edmonton right now. Only team to really do it and I would argue their goalie played a little above average was the Avs recently and they had TONS of fire power and a great D.
Lifetime Ranger Fan Here - Rod great job. Your team was tough and they played their hearts out even when they were down 3 games to 0. I just hope you'll stay with the Canes and and keep this a successful organization in the southeast. Thank you, your team and your fans for a great series.
What a great coach. I don't think I've ever seen a more honest post-game interview. I'm a Ranger fan but I know we beat a great team, I know our goalie was the difference, I know puck luck was on our side last night.
Rod is a great coach, but Canes need a some fresh changes. They are great team year after year, but still cannot make it all the way. New coach can bring new guys to the next level from the lineup. The problem is not the top-guys, they will produce but you need more guys to step up from the team. New coach can bring new energy.
Don’t forget - the Rangers majorly courted him 3 years ago after they fired Quinn. Gallant was the backup plan. Sorry Rod. You could be in Blue right now but chose the Whalers 🤷♂️
@@miikka6081 Rod must go after this season. He had got lots of time to show how far he can coach the team. The results has not been good enough. Also top players like Sebastian Aho must step up much more in playoffs. You just can´t do your basic lazy thing and get one point by game. You must shine in every game! You must find that next step. Carolina was once again big disaster also this year.
@@MarkTBird Yeah I agree with changes and coach might be a good one to do. I disagree with you that Sebastian Aho comment. I think he did bring enough to the table. I think he had most points in that series including rangers players. But players like Necas, Kotkaniemi, Drury, Staal etc. They did not bring anything. The issue was indeed that only the Aho’s line was producing. You cannot win with just one line. Rangers did have two lines, so not much better from them, after saying that, Florida will most likely win the next series against the rangers.
I'm a rangers fan who lives in NC and the rivalry i get to watch between the 2 teams is electric. Hell of a coach and his team really does rally around them. They are a really tough team and it was really a series of inches. We just got the lucky bounces ar the right times
@@rasalghul1263 If he stays, he should absolutely tell the gm to get a top 10 goalie, otherwise the same thing keeps happening again and again…Andersen is not even top 20…✌️
Great series! IMO the best two teams in the NHL. Rod is just pure class and refreshing to hear his analysis. If I were Jersey I'd make sure this guy doesn't walk before bringing on a new coach. He would be great (anywhere). Great hockey! Good luck to NYR the rest of the way~
To Toronto Rod goes. Rangers fan here. Canes would have destroyed anyone else in this playoff, except the Panthers. Really good hockey team. Tough one and respect.
Die hard Ranger fan here, Rod is truly a top 5 coach in the league. It’s unfortunate that Carolina will probably part ways with him at some point, amazing guy & very smart
I'm a rangers fan, but this Coach is a damn good coach, He gets the best out of his roster, Terrible Front Office however, The rangers got Adam fox, and trochek from Carolina, While the Hurricanes got Brady skjei, amd Tony D'Angelo from NY,
They are still technically the same franchise as the whalers were and being from CT, I can recount that whalers had the same problems back in the mid 90’s. Good thing is this franchise isn’t going anywhere and can turn the corner since they behave the fan support
A huge fact that often goes overlooked. Also if if wasn't for the system & the coach this team as constructed prolly is a very islander-like team in both identity and result in the W/L/OTL columns. Some might not see it that way but thats just my opinion. It takes a special coach to get guys, esp top guys on the team even if they might not be top guys in the league, but paid stars nonetheless to buy into that type of system and give it all. I give him respect for sure just as a hockey fan despite my overall distaste for Carolina in general as a rival in recent history. Respect how tough and pesky they are to play against.
I mean Fox refused to sign anywhere but NY, not a whole lot you can do there. I do agree that Waddell has wasted years of this core not doing enough or doing the wrong thing, and honestly I think he should go. Especially with how much has to be done this offseason, I don’t trust Waddell to do it
Best team in the playoffs. No one played a more consistent style and no team played more consistently than Carolina. They all pressed as a team on the forecheck all the time. Love this guy. Amazing style of hockey they play. It’s wild how through the whole series the rangers couldn’t spend more than a minute in Carolina’s zone. And then from minute 50-55 they dominated. The most pressure the rangers had in the entire series.
If Carolina ever got their panties in a bunch and moved on from Rod, the guy would have another job the day beforeeee YESTERDAY! There would be teams willing to fire their current head coaches to bring him in. He's a top 5, I actually think Top 3 coach in the NHL. He works for a SMALL market team that has grown it's fan base and hockey in the city x100 because of his success year in and year out! You can'tttt argue with consistency! The championship will eventually come whether its in Carolina or elsewhere as I began my post by saying. Great Coach and Class Act. 👍
Shesterkin was the MVP of the series. Switch goalies and the Canes easily win this series. Canes HAVE to upgrade at goaltender or else this will be repeated next year and the year after that. And they also HAVE to resign Brind'Amour. A no-brainer there. The very second Brind'Amour becomes available to other teams, his phone will be ringing and ringing and ringing and teams will be throwing money at him. One of the very best coaches in the league and everyone knows it.
As a Ranger fan Carolina had me worried they are a good team and Rod is a great coach and good man..could have went either way and alot of these soft crosscheck calls are being made and it happened to the rangers also
Sorry to say this but Rangers don't win a single game if Igor didn't play like he did. The guy was fucking unreal. Canes had 67 more shots on goal for the entire series lol. You can see how quickly we would get goals as soon as we could get past Igor for the first or second time, because the rest of the rangers team was hardly there. Canes just choked like they usually do. Giving up short handed goals, and making huge mistakes defensively and offensively that just bring the rangers right back in. The puck being handed to them on a silver platter way too many times. Don't think the rangers have the team to win the stanely cup but they sure as fuck got the goalie for it. #hardtobeacanesfan
I think the his contact is going to be on hold for a while. As much as I want him to return as there head coach next year there were very high expectations for this team and they should have at least reached the Stanley cup finals.
You guys are a phenomenal regular season team, but just can't hack the playoffs. Now, let's all bow to the Rangers and continue to be in awe of their season! LGR!!!!!!!!!
Rangers fan here. Canes rock... your team is so good I almost feel bad you lost. After game 5, I was sure we were cooked. Just wanted to pay my respects to the team and fans of the Canes.
What a class act for a coach! I really like this guy! Heaven forbid it happening, but, if the 'canes organization decides to fire him, we, in Utah with our new NHL franchise will be looking for a coach, and this guy would be at the top of my list!
He is a good man, and his team eats whole bean coffee before the game just like him . They don't have top notch talent so they have to play Chaos hockey , and in key moments when needed Canes could not execute some high end plays the way Rangers did.
One day in the summer of 95 as me and another guy were getting ready in the locker room to play a pickup game at Holydel Rink in Jersey , the door flies open and in walks Rod with his gear. He just wanted to skate and he played the whole hour and a half with us.
You blew it, Freddie. Don't have what it takes to win the games that matter in the playoffs just like many on the Leafs etc. then and still who can't crack it in the playoffs. That's the difference between NHL players and All-World players.
Yea. Rangers fan here. It’s no consolation for Canes fans but the reality is that it’s a game of millimeters and Carolina could have won this series. Easily. And that’s why sports kinda suck. It’s a lot of luck. Bounces, injuries, refs, etc.
Rangers fan also Carolina is one of the best teams in the nhl. They have had a problem of getting clutch goals for years. If they fire rod Carolina will fall into shambles and be like Washington capitals. They’ll still make the playoffs but with a -30 goal differential. Peter laviollete and rod are good friends
💯 absolutely. Suffering canes fan here was at playoff games. This guy gets blood from a stone. His system benefits subpar goalies (least shots allowed and high Danger chances all year) If he leaves they tank.
he's a good coach, i don't know if i would call him great-----only 1 conference finals appearance in 6 years ( and got swept) and they usually have one of the top 5 regular season records ( their kinda like the leafs but go 1 round further ) and look at his record over the past 10 playoff games in 1 goal games---most of them they lost.
Coach of Carolina does have his players playing hard all the time he’s a decent coach, but he can’t get them over the hump. Just look at the last three years no championship knocking at the door. Can’t walk through it changes need to happen.
not sure where they need to start, but the Canes need to take a step back, look within their core and do a bit of a makeover. this isnt working long term in the playoffs.
It’s a travesty that they keep trotting out Andersen every year expecting a different result. It’s unfair to the rest of this team, they work so hard and play fantastic playoff hockey, with a different goalie they could push further into the run. Never going to win with Fred.
As a Leafs fan I can tell you right now why Carolina keeps losing! It your goaltender Frederik Andersen!! He's NOT and elite goaltender. He chokes when you need him most, he did in Toronto and he's doing it in Carolina. He lets in the KILLER soft goal at the biggest moments.
Rod said it. Anderson lost us the game! anderson has to be gone! Horrific, No excuse! Need top goalie. Need great young D man. We will be fine but goalie’s these days make a huge difference.
I think Rod is 1 or 2 Seasons away from winning a Stanley Cup. He was a great player and he's a great coach! Would be stupid of Carolina to let him go..
Alot of luck in hockey....players on you so quick....deflections screens. Difference between scoring and not is so little. With all the wow over nyr..and yes they are excellent team..florida will be a series favorite...lines are out....
