"If you love me you will keep my Commandments" how is this so difficult to understand. Out of our salvation comes gratitude and flows fruit from the spirit. The works and obedience show who we love snd follow. Justification is s gift, we don't ignore the law. We appreciate it more than the Jews becsuse we know sanctification and justification is an inheritance biblically.

Perhaps a silly question, but are there any other parts in the Bible where the time given was a representation rather than an exact number? It was exact for creation, from Abraham to the exodus, and for the weeks in Daniel and temple destruction I believe so why is the 1000 year reign an approximation in all three eschatologies? Thank you so much for any responses on other non exact timeline examples in the bible.

I can't think of a time line reference, but cattle on a thousand hills is a lot more than just a literal thousand.
@masont2429
@masont2429 Год назад
It’s more about the number itself. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Samson slew a thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey. He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded for a thousand generations.

Every single time the number 1,000 is used in the Bible - it is NOT an empirical measurement. It's always used to describe "a large number". The only exception may be in a census where it is used along side other numbers describing how many people.

Do you believe God’s promise of faithfulness to Abraham was a literal 1,000 generations? Cause some quick napkin math tells me that is 40,000 years, which I don’t think dispensationalists would accept.

All the escatological views have problems. Michael Heiser points them out in a conspicuously balanced breakdown. Christchurch need to do a reaction video series addressing Heiser's assessment point by point without reference to dispensationalism, dealing with scripture only. Partial preterism makes sense but Doug and Jared's car is missing some wheels, so the decision atm is; do i jump from my premil car with 2 wheels onto the postmil car with 2 wheels.

Agree with this heartily. Seems like both could be true in many certain respects. Sat in this place for a while now. One is a 30,000 ft view top down, one is bottoms up. What does postmil framework do with possible imminent third temple rebuild (russia, Iran, nord stream, east med pipeline, Ezekiel 38), for example? It’s just an insignificant event? Seems like something’s missing. It’s not so much about what’s made much of in this video, that things are good rather than hopeless. Most people can swallow that, I find.

@@johornbuckle5272 many Postmils still see ethnic Israel as distinct and that there will be a large ingathering into the church after the fullness of the gentiles come in (Romans 11). @20:20. Why do Postmillennialists always seem to make Amillennialist arguments with regard Rev. 20:1-6?
@oracleoftroy
@oracleoftroy 10 месяцев назад
Amil and Postmil weren't really distinguished from each other until about 100 years ago, so there is a lot of overlap in their views on such passages. At least that's what I've learned from men critical of postmil, like R. Scott Clark in _A Brief Note On The History Of Amillennialism_ and Richard Gaffin in _Theonomy and Eschatology: Reflections on Postmillennialism_ As such, just like premil and dispsy view might disagree overall but still interpret this or that passage the same because both exist in a broader premil framework, so too postmil and amil disagree overall yet often agree on various passages because they both share a broader postmil understanding of the text.

@@oracleoftroy Amil and Postmil both place the 2nd Advent at the End of the Millennium. All (3) Premil positions place the 2nd Advent at the beginning of the Millennium, and assert that the Millennium is what happens as a result of the 2nd Advent. The Premil position is in fact the correct one. However, both Dispensational Premil and Historic Premil are wrong in their assertion that Christ and His saints will reign _on the earth_ during the Millennium.

@ryangallmeier6647 9 месяцев назад
@@oracleoftroy Naw, Jesus returns in Rev. 19:11-21, which leads into Rev. 20. The 2nd Advent precedes the Millennium of Rev. 20. The Glorified saints rule and reign with Christ in Heaven for 1,000 years (studying, "the books"). Satan and his angels will inhabit the desolate earth for a 1,000 year prison sentence (no wicked alive to deceive). After the Millennium, the Heavenly/New Jerusalem descends from Heaven to the desolated earth; the wicked are resurrected; Satan deceives them once again; they try and take the Beloved City by force; and then God rains down fire and brimstone upon them, destroying them all at once. Then, the earth will be regenerated, and the saints with Christ will inhabit it for eternity. *Soli Deo Gloria*

@@ryangallmeier6647 If it is strictly linier, then you have 3+ second returns of Christ. As he always seems to return after similar events, it makes the most sense to see it as different visions focusing on the same set of events with different emphases. The main message is that the church will prevail and accomplish its mission. That as powerful as the various prophets and beasts and dragons and even Satan seem to be, the church succeeds in its mission to bring the gospel of salvation to the ends of the earth and make the nations Christ's footstool. :)

Those who hold to postmillennialism believe that this world will become better and better (even though it certainly doesn't look like it is) with the entire world eventually becoming “Christianized.” After this happens, Christ will return. However, this is not the view of the world in the end times that Scripture presents. From the book of Revelation, it is easy to see that the world will be a terrible place during that future time. Also, in 2nd Timothy 3:1-5 it says, “There will be terrible times in the LAST days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God." IF Christians and thereby Christ were reigning, do we really think we would have over a billion Muslims, who view Jesus as a prophet right below Mohamad, a billion Buddhists, who believe Jesus was an enlightened person, a billion Hindus, who believe Jesus studied yoga and became a guru to the Jews, a billion Catholics who are entrusting their souls to Mary at the hour of their death, nearly a billion atheists, the LGBTQ running rampant, TV shows and movies, that continually blaspheme God and His Christ, drinking, drugs, colleges that have become propaganda mills that promote Godless, Big-bang theology and Darwinian Evolution, human trafficking, and a host of other sinful deeds that will be eliminated during the reign of Jesus Christ, our Holy God. This is a good example of eisegesis; reading pre-conceived ideas into the text, rather than simply reading what the text is clearly stating.

Interesting fact; The only curses found in New Testament scripture are on those who claim to keep the Old Covenant Law, and upon those who teach others that they must keep the Law of Moses.
@theeternalsbeliever1779
@theeternalsbeliever1779 Год назад
This is clearly wicked theology because Paul taught from the Law(Acts 28:23), and he told Governor Felix in Acts 24:14 that he _still_ believed in the authority of the Law. At no point in Paul's epistles does he teach against the Law. Traditional Christianity loves to portray the Law as "Old Covenant" or "Mosaic" theology because it helps them pretend that it didn't come from God. Moses was the lawgiver, but the Law didn't come from him.

They claimed to keep the old covenant law but really were not. The curses were due to their hypocrisy. They were whitewashed tombs, beautiful on the outside but full of putrid death on the inside. In Galatians the issue was circumcision, which came to Abraham before the law of Moses, and those who were adding it to faith, through which Abraham was declared righteous before and without circumcision.
@mjack3521
@mjack3521 Год назад
@@masont2429 No law makes us righteous. But I can see your point. Paul also said in Colossians let no man judge you about keeping feasts and Sabbaths. They were all shadows of the reality that is in Christ. If you want to keep the law, you need to keep all of it. No one can. The law is not of faith. Galatians 3:10-12 (LEB): For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all the things that are written in the book of the law to do them.” 11 Now it is clear that no one is justified in the sight of God by the law, because “the one who is righteous will live by faith.” 12 But the law is not from faith Galatians 2:15-16 (LEB): 15 We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles, 16 but knowing that a person is not justified by the works of the law, if not by faith in Jesus Christ, and we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified.

Theonomy = Galatians 1:6-9 | ESV I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the Gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

7:11 that is the most lazy, inverted and backwards way of exegeting the term ‘day of power’. You literally took an English word (not found in the Hebrew text) and hyperlinked it to a future Greek language prophecy about an event that uses, in some translations, the same English word. If our preaching cohort caught you doing that, you’d get raked over the coals for it. Wow. ‘Day of your Power’ isn’t even the best translation (which you’d know if you used anything other than the KJV). The passage is speaking directly to the ‘Day of the Lord’, a moment of final wrath against humanity’s evil at the establishment of the Kingdom, and final defeat of the anti-Kingdom, on earth at the end of time. How you relate this to the gifts of the Spirit (which you deny are even in operation any longer) given at Pentecost is beyond me. Talk about ‘appearance of godliness but denying its power’. Wow.
