Postmortem of a cheap, broken fan motor

Sorry about all the microphone popping…
Here’s a motor I pulled out of a ComfortMate fan I’d tried fixing, only to find out it was riveted shut and therefore not worth my time to fix. I ended up scrapping the motor and only saving a few things like the spacers, oil wicks, and thrust washers-but not before first discovering an egregious example of planned obsolescence.

I'll never understand these riveted motors. There's literally no upsides other than cost. At least Lasko puts decent serviceable motors in their fans, even though their plastics leave something to be desired.

Me neither. Even that atrocious Mainstays pedestal fan I have is at least serviceable unlike this… I haven’t used any Laskos aside from my 2018-19 3733 with the Lasko Pro Motor, though I was surprised with how easy to work on the 3733 was when I got it.
