Beautiful cemetery. My grandmother had several photos or tin types of her aunts two children. Both died in infancy. They are wearing beautiful baptismal-like gowns. She told me her aunt was devastated and kept them in her Bible. Thank you Sue.
Now this cemetary is the perfect final resting place in my opinion! I love everything about it! Here in the USA they are more like "memorial parks" that almost look like a golf course until you are close up and see the flat boring plaques. This was an awesome find, thank you Sue! xx
Originally cemeteries were the parks for people. Outside the normal city and towns boundaries, because of the smells. People would ride/drive up in their horse drawn vehicles. It could take hours to reach them. So they were well cared for and more like a park for children to play in. While the elders and adults would sit and converse to/and about their loved ones. Now that we have motored vehicles it does not take so long to get there. And cemeteries are just places where the dead are buried.
Having seen many Victorian post-mortem photographs, I was not negatively affected by the babies’ photos. Very many unusual graves there! It’s a beautiful place. I notice many of the flat stone-topped ones are angled, so one can see them (plus rain can run off, instead of sitting there). A fascinating journey. Thanks, Sue & God Bless 💖💚
Thanks, I think it made me feel very sad, knowing those babies had one little photo, which unfortunately was the moment they had passed, beautiful place
Absolutely beautiful cemetary loved the skull grave ,outdoor art gallery &museum, so sad to think they were the first and last photos of the little ones ,thanks Sue take care
What an amazing cemetary!! So peaceful and quiet. The skull and crossbones are quite stunning. How amazing it has lasted for this many years. Those after death pictures of the babies don't bother me. I hope it helped the parents with their grieving. Probably the only reminder they had of them. Thank you for taking us with you!❤❤❤
As maternal mortality! I'd of died & my babies if not for the Emergency C sections I had due to eclampsia (high blood pressure & protienuria/bleeding kidneys)
Another beautiful and fascinating cemetery! Another place I could walk around for hours!! Thank you, Sue, for bringing us with you on your adventures!!
Wow. I absolutely love this beautiful old cemetery Sue. The one and only photos of the little babes touches my heart, and it is filled to the brim with memento mori. Just stunning. Thank you so much, you're amazing xx Teresa 🇦🇺💖
Hi Sue, that is a Gorgeous peaceful cemetery...I Agree that the grave with the skull is extremely unique. It almost looks like a Pirate's ☠ grave. The Children's Graves are always sad, you wonder about what the people were like when they were alive. The Laughter, the Love, the Compassion and the heartache. I Recently lost a cousin, he was only 35, he passed in Hospice due to liver cancer that spread. I found out through my Brother, he seen it on Facebook. I was close to my cousin, he spent many dinners at my house, he gamed...I went over to his Parent's house and jammed on guitar and watched movies at his house. We were all close. Last time I seen him was at a Christmas banquet, he looked healthy as could be. The eerie coincidence, was when I saw and talked to him, at a local grocery store just less than an hour before I found my Father dead. I was 35. I don't think Anyone can explain life. Thank You Sue for giving a small voice to those who passed and were long forgotten. I need to get out to my Parent's Mausoleum. God Bless You!! >P.S. I seen the pic of your mascot Morty, that was hilarious!!! 😁👍☘🦆
Thank you, sorry to hear of your cousins passing, life sure can be hard, cancer is terrible. To loose your dad at 35 is very young to loose him. My children buried their dad, almost 1 year ago. We miss him so much
Some amazing stones and the Cemetery is so beautiful. I like seeing the porcelains on the Graves...gives u more insight to who the person was...sad but interesting as well. I could walk around this Cemetery for hours looking at the stones and trees. Thank you, Sue ❤
Fabulous cemetery Sue thank you so much for taking us there..The skull on that grave was amazing 😮 Look forward to pt2..from a baking hot 33° London sending you love ❤
Lovely cemetery. Recently had a brief conversation with a couple from Brugges while vacationing in SE Asia. The beauty of Brugges came up and the desire to visit one day. Enjoyed this vid and thanks for sharing!
Oh, believe me, it is amazing, like an enchanted film set. Then take a train to brussels to see grand place in brussels, I absolutely fell in love with the place
The trees alone give away the age of the cemetery. Such a lovely place. I bet you enjoyed having the place pretty much to yourself. A place to see and experience.
Sue that was some graveyard. That skull was amazing and creepy and post modem pictures don't bother me. They are very sad to just spring on someone. Great video thanks.
What a beautiful place . Sue, when I walked through the Hollywood graveyard in Richmond, VA , I took with me my small recorder . I turned the sensor on to activate if it heard any noise. I went to a place where it was really away from any normal traffic and turned it on , placed it on a large headstone and walked away . It was nearing 6 pm and the cemetery was closing .. gates and all. Came back the next day and yes the recorder had recorded . Some mumble Jumble but then two elderly men talking as plain as day and very clearly. I found it quite interesting. The graveyard your in I would sure be interested in doing the same if I was ever in France . Beautiful place . Thank you
Wow! Nice cemetery Sue! It is sad when children die, and back in those days, photos were not taken of frivolous things, children being one at that time, but then they would have to take a photograph post mortem if the child passed. Today, the child is photographed at birth, and many times more, before it leaves the hospital! Which is great for the memories of when the child asks about where it came from! You can pull out the photo albums and show the child it's first few days of life all the way to today if you are a picture taking parent! That skull was cool with the moss covering it and giving it a layer of life it would lack if it were bare stone. I can see why they use the name for the cemetery! I like the respect you and GV give the cemeteries and the occupants, it also makes for great videos too!
It is a very beautiful cemetery. I think the photos are very nice Sue.The graves are each so different are they. I must tell you I have been to Bugges Belgium a few times and it is one of my favorite places Sue. I hope you two enjoy your travels. Be well and safe! Lovely Lovely Cemetery Thank you so much Sue! Hello to G.V.
Hello Serenity Sue, Sorry I am behind on these two videos. Love the skull on top of the grave and the postmortem photos. Victorian era was when the boom of postmortem photography really took off. Very well-kept cemetery. Hope other communities will learn to take better care of their grave yards. Truely enjoyed this video, Cheers Jean Crosby Nashville TN USA

Old cemeteries are absolutely beautiful. The mausoleums and the grave markers are so elaborate they reflect the love the families had for loved ones. I look forwards to your videos Thank you so much Sue
Left my comment under someone else's.. I was impressed with the beauty of the grounds as well as the uniquely different monuments..Thank you for the tour!
Very pretty cemetery Sue. Really gorgeous with all those trees! And those tombstones, headstones, delicate little masoleums, and bigger masoleums. I thought that skull was real, silly me. More porcelain pictures please. The little babes were sad. You are right. Many back then could hardly afford a photograph, let alone multiples. I hope you are enjoying your trip. Please stay safe! ♥️ ☘️ 🇮🇪
Thank you for sharing this magnificent cemetery. I could spend hours there. The gravesites and mausoleums are so beautiful. The trees and lovely too. ~~~Liz in Wisconsin, USA.
Sue, you are SO lucky to be able to walk through beautiful burial places like that!! We don't have anything even close to that here in the US (at least not in Maryland where I live). Thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through you and your walkthroughs!
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I've only been outside of the US one time, back in 2005 when my first wife took me to Germany for 3 weeks. She had cancer at the time, but wanted to "go home one last time" (she was born in Munich), and because my family had originally immigrated from Germany in the late 1800s, was wanting to take me to the country I had always longed to visit. But knowing the rigors of travel through that experience (heh, we almost got arrested in London during a layover... for smoking outside), I completely understand what you mean. Besides, I find cemeteries and graveyards to be extremely peaceful places. Even the ones near me, despite them not being anywhere near as beautiful as what you are going through. And just for informational purposes, my first wife would pass away less than a year after our trip. She had promised before she died, to send me someone when the time was right, so that I wouldn't be lonely for the rest of my life. She did, and that woman and I have been married for 13 years now.
Sue, I just wanted to say thanks for another great video. Plus the bonus round of hearing the lovely lilt in your voice. I have a perfect idea for you as a side job. You should do voice overs of children's books. Specifically, bed time stories! Your voice is soothing.
Hi Sue, Am from Illinois in the USA 🇺🇸. You do a wonderful job showing the graves and giving us time to look or freeze it if needed my time. This is a beautiful cemetery, as cemetery’s go. 😊
Hi sue Steve from England, just viewed your first part of your video. It was awesome graves and Grave stones were intriging, specially all the death heads , waiting for second half Sue. Great.
Hi Sue, it's Darren from Australia again.... Well done on this absolutely amazing cemetery, I like the photos on the graves it makes it human not just cold steel and concrete.... Cheers Darren...
A lot of beautiful and unique monuments in this cemetery. The skull grave is kind of creepy, but it's different and worth going to see. The babies made me sad. I cried just seeing them, and can't imagine how Mama and Pappa felt. RIP little ones. Thank you, Sue, for showing us around this amazing place.
Hello from Southeast Texas Sue! Wow this cemetery is so unique with all the pictures on the graves! The trees are amazing it's just awesome, thank you so much for your videos!
Just found your channel this morning. I’m from Georgia in the South eastern USA. I love visiting Europe, next time I’m there, I hope to visit some cemeteries. Love how green everything is, the moss, the Ivy, it’s beautiful. Don’t see that much here since our weather in summer gets pretty hot and very dry.
Hi Sue and GV. I never thought I would say this about a cemetary. It is so beautiful and in some areas looks magical with the trees, moss and delicate stone work etc. It looks so peaceful. Thank you so much. Take care and God bless❤
Another great video Sue. The moss on the skull and Crossbones, gives it an aura of mystiqueness to it. The post mortem photos are pretty sad when the parents don't have any other photos to put on their child's graves, but at least they won't be forgotten by their following ancestors after the death of their parents. People might think I'm being morbid about that, but I know quite a few friends who have done the same with the loss of their children, and they explain why they've done that, and that is the reason, they don't have any other photos to put on their child's gravestone. Again, great video, keep them coming. I enjoy all your videos.
Yes, I understand that that completely, it just makes me feel so sad to know this beautiful baby was so loved and I felt their parents' pain from their loss. My friend lost their little baby and I know the heartache they went through and still go through. I can't imagine that loss and living with it forever, bless them all
G’day Sue interesting and very unnerving it’s a beautifully laid out cemetery with lovely trees. Your weather is getting like ours bloody hot in summer thank you for filming and editing footage. That grave with the skull is a , sorry I haven’t been in touch computer problems, take care and God bless John
I like your new profile picture Sue. Awesome cemetery! There is really too much here for me to comment on. The post-mortem pictures of those little ones was sad 😔 may they rest in peace 🙏 Thank you very much Sue and GV, this was an awesome video. Have a great week ahead. 😊
Hi there, I'm new with you and I luv the videos! I'm in the center of Canada, we don't have cemeteries anything like this! I could spend days just looking around at the beautiful stones and artworks! The green cushion for the skull and Bones was just like a fuzzy blanket, made it just perfect!! Sum amazing sites there!! Seeing the skull and Bones or swords instantly has me thinking of Pirates lol. Should say something like here lays the most daring and adventurous of me boys or you no lol you know what I mean! Thanks again! ❤️🇨🇦
What a beautiful serene cemetery Sue, look so calming to be there. Sorry, I have to giggle when you say 27°C are hot, I come from a cooler town in South Africa and then sometimes go to 36°C. Thank you also for the respect you show to the dearly departed. Unfortunately, in today's society, there are a lot of people who do not have respect for the dead or their final resting places.
