I was taught that too much purring is an indication of irritated hen but a random/infrequent purr added into feeding clucks is contentment, any help with this?!
Yes, I primarily use purrs to add color. Soft purrs and scratching leaves to create the illusion of a feeding hen. A few purrs mixed in with yelps. Turkeys aren't always making noise so if you're constantly purring they'll be a little suspicious.
Hi there! You want to call or strike against the grain, therefore you want to "rough" the surface in one direction. Sanding the surface of your slate or glass calls, will smooth out the surface and limit the friction needed to strike up a sound to catch that gobblers attention. Let us know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching!
