Looking for the perfect mouth call to learn from? This call was designed with the new turkey hunter in mind. It's got the rasp you need to sound like a fired-up hen with the thin reed design to easily work the reeds for any sound that a hen turkey makes. Give it a try this Spring and bring em in close!

Thanks Julius, I agree. The shape of the mouth call is counter-intuitive to how we would think it is supposed to go. I remember when I first started I am sure there were lots of folks in my house wanting to cut that thing up.

Hello, I am from New Brunswick Canada. Wild turkey's are a new addition to our province. And this spring will be our 3rd season (lottery). I don't plan on hunting them, but still want to try calling toms to my camera. I have tried calling by mouth, and I can get it a bit.. but it is too hard on my throat. I am 64 and wear both sets of dentures. I would think that these diaphragm calls would not stay in place. So my question to you is...what type of call should I as a beginner buy that will give me a varied amount of hen calls? I don't really like the idea of a slate call, because as I understand they require some maintenance. Just subscribed, do you have video that will cover this? Thank You!😊👍
@callemorcrawlem
@callemorcrawlem Год назад
Hey buddy! I would recommend a ceramic surface pot call. Waterproof and practically indestructible. Requires very little maintenance. Occasional light sanding with some 320 grit if anything. I do have some videos on call maintenance and plan to put out more. I have a ceramic surface call that I sale that I believe would be just what you need

I’m new to mouth calls. Where do you put your tongue? Do you use the tip of the tongue or middle of the tongue to create pressure?
@callemorcrawlem
@callemorcrawlem Год назад
Andrew, This can be a bit tricky to explain, so I may need to add a video that captures this with use of the model mouth. All that said though, if you think of the call as an instrument (let's say a guitar) your tongue would be your fingers. So you cannot rely on a stagnant tongue position. You'll need to learn to flex and relax your tongue in a sense in order to manipulate different pressures on the reed as air passes over it. I will put some thought into how I can illustrate this and circle back to you. Good luck this spring.

I can’t get mine to stick to the roof of my mouth. It keeps falling down and not staying, I’m assuming because it might be too big for it?
@callemorcrawlem
@callemorcrawlem Год назад
Possibly. So the question would be are the edges of the tape on your teeth as far as your pre molars and such. It should sit fair flush on the inner rim of the teeth.

Definitely makes a difference in the sound. Often times the cut reed will be a significant different color and can help to identify the "top" of the call.

@callemorcrawlem
@callemorcrawlem 2 месяца назад
The tape if that is what you're referring to can be trimmed down to fit your mouth or you can try a smaller frame call - you don't necessarily have to have a seal with the call on the roof of your mouth, it's more so learning to activate the reed
