I still have potato plants started alone by using just chits. They're definitely a lot slower but they're growing. It was an experiment started back in about April with the chits stuck into starter pots. I chose to get larger pots to grow them in but my soil mix is a bit too light, moisture retention is poor.
I had a couple of mine started that way because they fell off the potato. Seems to work just fine. I imagine they need to be a minimum size for it to work but no yucky old seed potatoes when harvesting! 👍 I hope yours turn out great!
