Reminds me of the "Field of Stupid 2", with almost everyone being like "wait, did I play Field of Stupid 1?", going into the maker's profile, playing the 1 that's just a giant Carlbox, and _then_ playing Field of Stupid 2, the actual level.
I played this level WEEKS ago and I just so happened to run into the level when sorting by new. In other words, I ran into the level seconds after Potatochan uploaded it. I managed to be the first clear, then I set the world record... and then *HE DELETED IT.* I saved that version of the level, but I'm bummed that I didn't get to immortalize myself on a Potatochan troll level. I even left a comment saying "hi Carl and chat." I almost gave up before CP1 because one of the solutions to go forward was confusing
@@Potatochan789 So glad to see you creating again, you were always one of my favorite troll level creators. You subvert expectations so well, and you clearly have such a wonderful sense of humor. Appreciate the hard work!
23:35 when he got to this room i was absolutely convinced it was another duplicate and he was gonna have to carry the shell into the next room and not wear it. Potato was indeed too soft to make him go through two repeats lol
Potatochan was the first troll level maker I ever played back when SMM2 came out. After seeing him absolutely dupe the shit out of Carl in Maker 1, I knew I had to give it a shot. Definitely cemented my love for playing troll levels. So stoked to see him make a new level. It’s brilliant from start to finish.
Awesome, was not expecting the potatochan interview at the end. Would like to see more of this Carl. A quick rundown of the troll level you just played touching on highlights or inspirations. Love it.
I love how Potato-chan returns after two years, titles the level "Potatochan's last endeavor" and makes it seem like a temporary return to give one last goodbye, and then puts in the description that it's not actually definitively their last level lmfao.
As much as I love a nice Carl gets trolled video, the second part was the best for me. If the "troll construction podcast" would become a regular, it would make me (and not only) a happy individual.
Usually fall for a duplicate room in the game Carl straight up fell for a duplicate level Edit: thanks for 93 likes and the heart Edit: didn't know editing removes the heart dang it
Incredible show Carl and Potato! A marvelous return! It also warms my heart whenever we get to hear the occasional throwback to the Bob Ross remix outro for the end card.
Potato's DGR troll level was one of my first inspirations to get into troll creating. Seeing him still be able to make an amazing level is really inspiring. Thank you, potato
I love trolls that hit blocks off screen so that you think you've already visited an area on the same life because you see a block that's been activated.
I think you dodged the final troll in Potato-chan's level where if you held onto the shellmet, you could get it killed in the last pipe if you're facing left (due to some enemy hidden behind the launcher).
That was really cool hearing Potato talk about how it works. My favorite bit was the one ways. All those buried one ways just to increase the entities!
Absolutely agreeing on the creativity talk. I'm producing electronic music for almost 20 years now. There have been times when I did not accomplish anything for about two years, and right after that, it just went bonkers and I dropped a whole album in the time of 2-3 months as everything just worked out perfectly. Thus I'm quite happy that I have a rather analytic job where creativity is almost not at all of importance, and a hobby where I can just make use of it when it flows and leave it be when it does not.
34:00 Came back to this video after your most recent upload where you played his old level, "Sorry, Dave". This is the moment where Potatochan revealed the fake ending trick for that level! Thankfully, you forgot about it so that when you did play the level, the troll hit you full force!
I haven't watched a SMM2 video in a long time, and haven't heard of Potatochan in even longer. Glad to see he's back making these levels, they were a blast to watch & play.
it's good seeing potatochan again. I once made a troll level for a race with Potatochan, but I kinda suck as a troll level maker so it wasn't very good
dude the troll level creator interviews are marvelous, this should absolutely be something whenever possible at all because it is SUCH a great knowledge drop
it's really sad that you hit the peak of community growth *years* ago, as in, the community doesnt seem to be growing at all. you really deserve a lot more fans for the content you put out, purely for the consistency and overall dedication as a whole. Andy, if I may call you that, it's been a pleasure watching your videos for over 5 (or 6?) years now. I truly hope this community grows in the near future as you definitely deserve it. keep making more videos, I'm intrigued to see more! I'll forever stay a fan of yours, even if I stop liking Mario Maker content at some point, just because you're a goddamn great person. love from Latvia. 🤍
@@Squish-E :D I've noticed that too, I think he just prefers to go by his internet name (in this case - Carl) like most online personalities do, so he doesn't mention his real name as much as he used to. Wanted to send a more heart-felt message though, in case he needs some motivation. It's pretty damn tough to keep going nowadays and good people like him deserve the most support of all (not implying that there are people that don't deserve support, everyone does).
I was confused on whether I've seen this video and may have had dejavu... But then I remembered that I watched your stream when you played this game 🤣🤣🤣
the funniest part of all of this, is that his instinct from playing the game for so long is correct, but psyches himself out by either overthinking or just yolo-ing. Thank you for the laughs Carl
2:33 Imagine that the other 40 minutes of the video wasn't just a black screen designed to trick you into thinking that the "new Potatochan level" actually existed by making the video longer...
Scorching hot potato level 🥔🔥 Extra thanks to the creator for revealing so many details. Would also be interested to view a superworld of original smb with alternate routes and game play.
The 1-1 is dumb thought you had for a ROM reminds me of the game “there’s only 1 level” with the elephant and there’s a gimmick each time for like 100 stages
I like going through a level's architecture and seeing everything, too, but I'm gonna be real, some of these level creators make for more entertaining characters in Carl's videos when we don't know anything about them personally. The mystery - the magic... It's GONE!
Potato Carl in the thumbnail reminds me of Twiggle's Spelunky 2 no-damage Cosmic Ocean run 😢 (For those who don't know, Twiggle passed away unexpectedly in June this year.)
The Stevo-Potatochan collab? Yes please. I'm pretty sure Carl would errect and altar for it. An altar of sacrifice that is. PS.: Please make it box-shaped.
