I think Deflect Shield will help a lot with Potemkin's bad Match-ups like I-No, Chipp and Millia, who can abuse Potemkin's lack of reversals. Knocking them away does a lot, and if they were Auto-piloting pressure, it allows for a counter hit
the worst thing to ever happen to pot this season is gold burst -> pot bust -> prc -> hpb not being able to do dubious amounts of mental damage during the first 5s of the round
Finally! 5p whiffing crouchers has been a gripe of mine since Xrd first came out. On one hand it was nice for buster setups on the unaware. But I'd rather have it connect for oki situations. Can't wait to try it
Losing FMF Oki does kinda suck, but also going from a liability when used without meter to a proper callout in neutral that doesn't... ya know, leave you AT BEST -2 in front of your opponent's face has been GREATLY appreciated! Especially against Johnny because this man's is dishing out all the mids and having a way to hop on over and get some reward off it has been real good!
forgot to mention pot's a midweight now (alongside everybody else), which while it doesn't affect pot gameplay directly, it lets people combo him harder for making mistakes. i feel like everyone's forgetting the weight changes, which are essentially health nerfs to heavies, when discussing character changes lol
Thanks for helping level up my really basic Pot. I don’t use Garuda Impact on airborne opponents or FDB nearly enough even though it’s great for giving an opening for a clean Hammer Fall cancel.
I miss those too, but with Deflective Shield on play it's gonna be harder to take advantage of meaty Garuda unless you have meter. We sacrificed some of our oki for better neutral.
WA can go through, or clash with invincible moves like Motobato. If Ram does Mortobato right after blocking Garuda, then charged WA will clash. You get nice momentum from the clash which allows you to do c.S 2S 2HS...
@@hakageryu-hz7jzI realised mid-typing that what I was about to say was what it was. Also, your comment appears to be shadowbanned and only visible in the "newest" comments tab, it will not display in the default one. I hate YT's management more with every passing day.
Why'd i ever use heavenly buster now considering even before patch it only dealt slightly more damage than normal buster, and it was also harder to execute because the enemy had to be mid-air Now it deals around as much damage as normal buster and its still hard to do
Yo can pot mains answer me this question? Were you always able to do 6P to Heat Extend combo in patches before or is it just the latest update onwards which allows for more combos?
You always could do it, though the consistency of getting the Heat off would depend on distance and opponent size (and if both failed, 6P Counter Hitting for extra air time).
@@slainmaster1997 oh damn. I was learning sol so whenever i used bandit bringer on one pot main he 6p'd counter and always grabbed me for heat extend XD
@@NycmanTheNicestOfMen Heat does offer more damage and is the quickest followup, but provides the worst okizeme after the punish and also tends to build alot of meter and burst for the opponent. I often default to either Flick (normal hit) or Garuda (counter hit) to followup 6P. They provide similar corner carry for a bit less damage but they build less resources for the opponent and have more advantage since you can Hammerfall Break at near point-blank (especially with Kara Hammerfall) and still be plus enough to meaty with c.S or 5K (or hit them with Kara Buster if they are conditioned to block the meaty).
Potemkin was a character I always wanted to play, but after dabbling and seeing the Kara cancels, I was no longer under the delusion pot was anything other than the most execution heavy character in the game. And they seem particularly hard if you play using a controller, compared to other things. I ask the wise potemkin community... are they still that mandatory for any kind of oki or combo with season 3 changes? Can I play him *alright* without being good at Kara Garuda and Kara back megafist?
You can /play/ him, but kara Garuda and kara Buster are indispensable tools in Potemkin's arsenal. Kara BMF is also important for squeezing as much damage out of hits as possible, which is something you'll want to do as Potemkin considering the limited number of comboable strikes he will land in any given match. I'd definitely prioritize learning kPB and kGI over kBMF, though.
@@loonybin3751 yeah, i figured. Potemkin feels like the only character in the game to me that you can't play pad for. i know *some* folks can, but it's like using the analog stick for motions. seems insane to me. I can only do kara potemkin buster, and only if i use my fingers instead of thumbs. Oh well.
@@SylemGistoe That's completely fair. If you just want the big body grappler experience and don't particularly care about Potemkin specifically, give Nagoriyuki a shot.
Great vid though it would've been nice if you color coded the buttons to their corresponding colors. Having all normals be red made me think of HS a lot.
