Hi Melth, love this series. I played BG3 a lot, and your understanding and strategy in this game are really quite good and fun to watch. Having three spellcasters in a run without long-resting sounded wierd to me at first but these few spells are really destructive when used well. Also I enjoy you explaining some things in the lore, that might not be clear to everyone. However, I got a thing to say about this and I hope you don't take it too badly. I'm trying to be constructive. English is not my first language so keep that in mind. I feel put off whenever you start to invalidate internal logic in the game when it doesn't match with DnD. The game is not very open about it, but I think it gets quiet obvious that it does not try to be 100% accurate to DnD and it's lore. I think of the game as a dungeon master and as such it is free to make certain spells unavailable and change aspects of the lore or similar. Let me point out an example: You are saying that there is a 1st level spell that would allow pretty much any class in this game to read Astarion's scars. I assume you are talking about comprehend languages. This is a very common spell in DnD. But this is not DnD. The spell seems to just not exist in this game. (It might be referenced at some point, but I don't remember anything in that regard.) It is good to point that out. You might want do it in a way that acknowledges this. In the end, I'm a huge bg3 fan, it might just be me who feels this way. Anyway, keep it up. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
The way I see it, a game like this is still getting new players for one thing. But also, in my videos I'm often spoiling big plot twists from act 3 and talking about whether or not these events in act 2 fit with them well. So a person who just wants to see a video about some boss in act 2 or something should get a warning because I might suddenly be talking about how everything the dream visitor says is a lie or whatever
Having explosives detonate twice is likely a result of getting hit with multiple damage instances in a single action. I know that halo of spores does that and consistently causes the double explosion.

@@cannyvalley8522 I think they didn't want to make the game 'harder' for all the people who rely on exploits and cheese. I don't love that design decision, but I can understand it I suppose

orc disguise astarion was so funny lmao and as for all the constant repeating themselves the npcs did, i find that when you do a completionist run it triggers multiple flags or something? i dont know exactly but just from experience more casual runs they dont really do that...
Moving into the City of Brass seems like a genuine upgrade to not only Avernus but Abeir-Toril too. Hell, move into Wildspace and live near a star or something like that. Anything to get away from this miserable world!
I really have a hard time taking Bhaalista seriously when the default male elf looks like handsome Squidward doing the Zoolander blue steel face. I'm also not sure if you can even get Minthara's romance now. The only time I've ever gotten it was when I sided with her in act 1.
Blue Steel?! Nonsense, this is 'Magnum!' I'm annoyed to be stuck with it regardless instead of the face I crafted for the character! I *think* I've read that Minthara's later romance is completely separate from the act 1 stuff, but I'm not certain
Can’t wait for combat with minthara in the party. She’s one of the stronger companions given soul branding. Curious as to how valuable you think that ability is.
@@Bilndmann my initial opinion is that it's amazing, in that it's free to buff with before combat. Movement is tremendously valuable and she could give massive movement bonuses to many teammates. The damage is nice too. I think one could get greedy and exploit it for bonus damage on like 50 summons if you cast it really fast, but that's the kind of cheesy thing I wouldn't do on this run
4:15 I'd say it's completely reasonable to not spec Minthara into druid at all if the spore armor was the sole reason you wanted to use a druid. If the game changes, then it's not bad for your plan to change. I think druid is a good class and that it's probably not necessary to change it. But on the other hand, it's a good class in a normal run where long rests are trivial. Not so sure about your run.
iirc the flawed helldusk gloves apply their 1-4 fire damage and the bleed effect to thrown weapons. I don't know if you want to consider that a bug and not use them as a result but I wanted to bring it up just incase you encounter it later.
@@MrBlitzballer yeah, a LOT of unarmed stuff also works on thrown weapons. Which is kind of cool I guess and gives some otherwise bad items occasional usefulness. However, I'm at the point in the game where I'm probably going to stop throwing weapons very often
Do you have high approval with Astarion at the end of Act 1/beginning of Act 2, and are you taking enough rests? There are a bunch of cut scenes that cue up at the beginning of Act 2: Gale, Karlach if romanced, 1-2 Wyll scenes depending on if you know about Mizora's kidnapping, the Dream Guardian. This one is relatively low priority, and I think it becomes redundant/unavailable if you've met with Raphael outside the Mausoleum. I find I only really see it on runs where I've got good approval with Astarion. I think it can trigger in Act 1 if you've started a "relationship" with him. Regardless, the tiefling version isn't too different from the one here for a warlock.
@@lizzybennet201 I think the key is indeed that if you meet Raphael outside the Mausoleum, that negates this scene. This scene is so low-priority that unless a persons rests a gajillion times in a row, one will probably meet Raphael before this scene occurs.
@@lizzybennet201 Ah, well it could be it? I think its hard to get good approval from him, because you basically have to be bad in Act 1 to a degree. All the good choices tick him off.
@@XFizzlepop-Berrytwist yeah, Astarion tends to hate anything which is either good or intelligent. However, I do find that just having him in the party means he'll tend to get to high approval regardless. There are simply more approval events than disapproval ones for almost every character
For better or worse, if you *do* accidentally get in a relationship with Karlach or Gale, Minthara isn't completely inaccessible? :D What I'll say without spoilers

@@Melth she is a bit like halsin, as long as your approval is high enough she is going to romance you. Doesn’t matter if you are in a relationship or not

Can someone explain how you get your special attacks and spells back, if you dont long rest? im still learning the more advanced stuff. I presume you only can do regular melee or ranged attacks and cantrips.
There are ways to get spells back. Like certain potions can give you an additional slot or even refill all slots as if you were long resting. Also warlocks get back their spell slots when short resting and sorcerers can convert their sorcerer points into spell slots.
@@thomasrosendahl2783 for this run, I basically DON'T ever get those back. The main point of the challenge is that I have to budget my spell slots and other resources over the course of the entirety of Act 2 There ARE potions and things like that which give you the benefits of a long rest or short rest, but I won't be using those as part of my challenge
@@Melth Because of that Im guessing you have to pick the best builds fot this run? Im planning to do a solo run on balanced, which builds would be your top choice? i dont want to it to be too much of a struggle
@@HQbaracuda It is a must have on the last fight against the absolute and the large dragon. Can i ask which solo builds would you recommend for a first time solo playthough on balanced?
@@thomasrosendahl2783 Oh, I won't know, because I actually only played through the game once and am stuck on my evil playthrough due to time constraints (this game is eating away at ones lifetime too much).
@@GianniCampanale most importantly, I saved the squirrels from her dark enchantment! When Alfira is singing terribly in the grove, you can knock her out. If you do that right before the camp rest where she would usually die, she'll be replaced by a bard named Quil who dies instead. Remember, Alfira must be knocked out right before the rest where she would normally appear in camp though! If you knock her out and then get some different camp scene like Wyll confronting Karlach or the dream visitor, then you must go and knock Alfira out again!
@@Melth ah sorry should’ve been clearer - last act before clearing act 1 so would b early in the series. Im asking because I entered mountain pass and lost bliss spores because I immediately was forced into a long rest for a mizora and wyll cutscene
@@ironbar2009 I think it would be back when I wiped out the goblins then. That unlocked the tiefling party, which must be done by resting before going to the mountain pass or it's lost forever. So I probably did a bunch of other story rests at the same time as the tiefling party
