Pulling for you. On your side. Zero chance you successfully start a roofing business this way. Absolutely cannot start a business just by printing business cards. But totally here for it all. You are a trained and experienced mechanic. Kind of torpedoed that. But still, it’s your best hope. Get a car that works and drive to a job. Would give my son same advice. Pulling for you. Side work ain’t going to cut it.
Justin are you bi-polar? I am bi-polar and your behavior seems a little bit like mine before i got the correct medication and worked things out for myself. You just seem all over the place. Jumping from job to job. Law enforcement, back to mechanic, roofing/construction, starting your own business ect ect. I am honest to God worried about your mental health with these videos over the last several months.
You can’t take a new job before this roof is finished. Will that happen this week? It looks like several more days of work. What about the aluminum water channels on the roof. When I had a new Vermont slate roof put on all of that was removed and new one installed, with leaders and gutters.
there is lot of opportunity for technicians here in ca. I’ve been offered job to work at mine as all class technician and radio freq satellite tech. With higher pay than the double min. Wage . All just because of master ase cert and dealer certs. Not to say you need these certs, but to show that other fields recognize us techs as being kinda smart and understand we are trainable and have proof to show that. we can adapt and learn complex systems. I think you have much more to offer but all this is just the path to that really. Keep up the positivity dude!
Still gotta take time to advertise. When i did some small time computer repair years ago i posted business cards all over san Diego..not one bite but everything came from Facebook advertising i did and posts i did on local groups... side hustles for now but i dunno long term bro...but keep up the hustle, appreciate it 👍🏼👍🏼
call property management companies they may own rental houses that need roofs. Drive through 30 year old developments and leave flyers on the doors of houses that need roofs. Contact the small business administration. You would be surprised at what they can provide for info about that industry in your area.
Some of those people are gonna wanna see a contractors license particularly because he's in Cali. He also mentions his experience, which honestly isn't deep enough in roofing to really start a roofing company... He'd be on the bottom of anybody list on who to call, at most he'd get the odd minor roof repair job every 6 months.. dude is not planning anything out properly, I pray that he gets back into his field
@@AsviniKumar4747 You cant start from where you wish you were you can only start from where you are. Most guys start out unlicensed and uninsured. Stop focusing on obstacles and focus on futures.
@@mikenarvaez8198 I about 3 to 4 years of roofing experience; However, my primary function was loading, demo, and shingle. Anyone with common sense and some knowledge of the trade can make OSB Cuts, Lay tile, paper, torch down, gutter, board replacement, etc. Thanks for your comment though
@@biometal770 agree, but the recent trend of mobile mechanics are. It’s a flooded market currently where I am from, so it’s a hard business to get off the ground.
if you do decide to continue with the mobile mechanic stuff, I would advertise on facebook. There are multiple neighborhood groups in my area that mobile mechanics advertise on
My advice is to stop chasing minimum wage "opportunities ". Low pay jobs with no required skills like roofing, retail, timber yard work, etc. Your mobile mechanic business is your saving grace. Main requirement is how to work on cars. You know how to do this. Little overhead. Charge for service call. Pays for gas. Repairs, customer pays for parts and labor. No big investment. If its a special job, charge for special tools to do the job. Forget the business cards. Go find customers. Text a copy of your cards to every person you meet. Where can tou get customers? Anywhere and everywhere ! Your church, kids school, your barber, neighbor, auto pats stores, yellow pages, grocery stores. Oil changes, brakes. Nobody wants to change their oil! Find customers and you will aucceed. They will not come to you. Your labor as a mechanic will always be higher than a roofer helper.
@@markpeterson6836 Yeah something very strange has happened no one in a right state of mind would single handedly ruin a very good career being a mechanic to destroy their body doing roofing in his 40s
Go mobile and build your business thru social media and word of mouth! We called a guy in Rapid City during Sturgis the guy quoted us $175 an hour !!! We end up doing it ourselfes! Nothing high tech in roofing and you only see customers every what ?? Number of years? Go mobile mechanic and build a client base!
I still think you have a great answer to your employment problem right down the road at the 29 Palms Marine Base. I think somebody said you got knocked out of a law enforcement job there because of your visible neck tattoo. It is pretty low key from what I can tell, so go get laser tatoo removal and get back on that job opportunity! And if there is more to the story about why that didn't pan out, just apply to work in one of the chow halls on the base in food service, or janitorial, or anything. Once you are employed there, you'll find other kinds of other job oportunities to move into. Just get in the door.
