Windhorst was asking questions to the experts then answering it himself… you can tell the two tims put him in his place when they are on. Windy can’t do podcasts with anybody else because he truly believes he knows it all. But with the tims he refers to their superior ball knowledge.
Agree with Windy here. One of the few times because the 2nd apron excuse sounds like BS. The Clipper were approaching the 2nd apron regardless. Just say you didn’t want PG back.
@@joshuabernardino4310I agree there. I think the roster peaked and they thought they gave it their best chance. I think the team memo/tweet about PG leaving was to a pay tribute to PG and at the same time save a little face. The 2nd apron was just that big of a fork in the road that made them move on.
When talking about Franz, everybody is quick to bring up his 3pter and Game 7 but not his game 4 and 6 performances AND how great and versatile of a defender he is. If you don't believe me look up his defensive metrics. ELITE And he's 22. He's gonna get better. Deserved the contract
Do you really see a route to him and Paulo being a championship 1 and 2 though? I don’t think anyone is bashing him, it’s just a question of whether he can be the second best player on a championship team with all the talent in the league today
@@lukeremsberg5796 at this time the only real question about Franz is his long range jumper. How many 22 year olds can you say that about? He is good to great at just about everything else, including defense. And he shot 36% from 3 his first 2 years. So yes, I can see a world where Paolo and Franz are 1 and 2 on a title team, or at the very least a very good title contender. Are they there yet? Obviously not but rookie max extensions are based on potential, not the player’s current level
As a clipper season ticket holder I think getting rid of PG was the right move. They weren’t winning the chip with him, with PG they project to do what they did this year, one and done. Now they are younger, spending less and better positioned for the future. Short term they will be slightly worse next year but will be in the mix for 7/8 seed. They had to get rid of PG for lack of heart & bball intelligence, they can’t say it outright because it’s a player controlled league so they claim it was all because of the CBA.
good point on the bball IQ. PG is one of those guys who will take a tough shot when another player has an open shot. The clippers had too much my turn your turn. And PG's shooting was streaky so he sometimes took and missed those shots with another player open. When that happens enough, guys stop moving without the ball. Defensively I like PG a lot but when he had a tough assignment it did take a bit out of his offensive game at 34 years old. that will be the case for the rest of his career.
To all those Philly fans/ people that think Philly biggest threat in the East. Remember Philly and Embiid say “If we’re healthy, we can win this.” What tf you think Clippers have been saying?
Well, a lot can happen in a season and stars can get disgruntled if they don’t think things are going well. but obviously things are looking up for Minnesota and OKC.
@@robertweekes5783lol but to go to clippers? The team is obvs cursed. While both Are doomed to irrelevance soon, the lakers will always profile as bigger threat to sign stars
I’m glad I’m not the only person to feel that way he legit sounds like no matter what anyone tells him he believes it 100%.. zero common sense, that clippers second apron on the 4th year is insane to even think about especially cause cap continues to go up and kawhi would be off the books.. where they find him
Feels like the Clippers didn't want PG, whatever the reason, and PG didn't want to stay, fourth year or not. Paul George knows he is better off in Philly and ultimately decided to go there.
Y'all wayyyyy overestimating CPIII on the pick and roll being able to routinely create the same amount of space getting his shot off. Defenders gonna go under that screen and dare him to beat them on 18-22 footers all day. If he's not hitting 3's at a high clip fugghetaboitit he's more a mentor for Castle than any real threat on the floor. GS underwhelming overall with him last year. I don't see that changing with new scenery. Dude's just old and he ain't LBJ.
I dont understand why everyone is losing there mind over PG. What did the Clippers win with him and Kawhi? Absolutly nothing. It didnt work, it failed. It was time to move on imo
Prob because they lost him for nothing and the implications consequences of the deal FIVE years ago means okc still owns their 2025 and 2026 draft picks
Its always a sunny day in Clippers land for Ohm. Load management is fine, not making the finals once since the big bang is fine, losing your second-best player for nothing in free agency is perfectly fine!
its not just the 2nd apron the clippers were worried about, its the ability to adjust the roster as kawhi and pg got older. windy is talking about they would have had 3 years to figure it out. you dont need 3 years to figure out that paying paul george 57 mil when hes 36, and 61 mil when hes 37 is a bad idea. they wanted him to sign a similar deal as kawhi so as he got older he was taking up a smaller percentage of the cap each year giving them some flexibility to compete.
Well they now have nothing to show for trading SGA and they still owe OKC draft picks from that trade. Either way the Clippers came out of this situation big Losers.
Could they have kept Paul George, who has at least been more available to play, instead of Kawhi? Would there be more optimism keeping Harden and adding Derrick Jones Jr.,etc., to Paul George? And if I'm the Clippers,I do NOT want Kawhi to play in the Olympics.
Clippers are about to rebuild. They got a bunch of players that they will trade at the deadline. If they would have signed PG to the max, it would have taken away their flexibility.
Great move !! Letting PG walk away now we just have to trade Kawhi...start rebuild will be great ..I'm all wth it.....please no more old guys injured career guys
If yall want to hear more of the C list guests that Brian allows on HIS pod, maybe yall should go find Ohms and company since yall need their insight so badly
Maaannn HBO needs to due a Hard Knocks behind the scene on the Clippers this coming year. Clips signed wild man Kevin Porter and about to sign Miles Bridges... While hiring tell it like it is Jeff Van Gundy to be lead assistant . And Harden now expected to assume all star workload...pure comedy!!
Windhorst is such a d bag. He thinks that just because he puppy doged LeBron since he was a kid into a career that he is some sort of basketball God. He also views himself like Woj when he couldn't even put on Woj's shoes for him.
The question should be "now what for the 76ers", PG is a 42% career shooter and 35% at the 3 point line, never played in a championship game, will be 35 next season outside a couple seasons in Indy he hasn't made a difference on any team he has played and none of this equal a max contract. Philly doesn't make it pass the 2nd round.
Not a “star”, a SUPERSTAR! Superstars lead their team, hit clutch shots, take accountability for the wins & LOSSESS, win playoff series, championships etc etc….
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday -- Obviously. I said he wasn't a star. He was paid like a star and with that pay it is fair to say Harris was bad. If Harris was making 25 mil per year instead of 40 he would have gotten much less hate.
There's just no getting around a real "changing of the guard" taking place within these next couple years and the new CBA may've hastened matters due to how it's handcuffed teams abilities to acquire and KEEP star talent.
If I was clippers I woulda fleeced golden state for a boatload of picks. Or at least get some good role players for kawhi. To let pg walk for nothing was so stupid I’d fire the GM. You cannot outrun your ruined reputation after that.
The media is going wild over the clippers are dumb for no singing him the 4th year or trying to trade him but i think they made the right decision and the decision they wanted to make which was move on and forget about it they would’ve been in the second apron with a sign and trade so honestly they made the right move just move on start new and with the room to plan for the future
@@cameronrogowski2990 not unlikely at all … everyone been known Kawhi wanted to play in LA All the players he mentioned will sign SuperMax extensions with their current teams without even thinking about it
If Kawhi is your main piece then your set up for failure . Your best player can’t be part time . His teammates will not take that well mentally. If Kawhi was a good leader mayyyybe the team can get behind him but he fails at being a team leader .
If I’m the Spurs, I’m keeping an eye on Stephen Curry. Warriors likely missing the playoffs again. Strong chance Steph is rethinking his future on the Dubs.
Wemby might have a Wilt like season next year with CP feeding him the ball and helping organise his pick and roll game. I fully think Wemby could easy average 30 a game with minimal effort.
If Zion needs a center he should go and get the only Center to ever shut down the paint to him. Better yet they can keep Brandon Ingram to go get him. 28:28
The second apron excuse makes no sense for the clippers. Your already offering 3 years, in the 4th year kawhi and harden will be off the books anyway. They should've just gave PG the 4 year max
You guys are completely missing the boat on Ingram - it’s the way you have to run your offense through him. He takes way too many dribble mid range pull ups and in the current nba - most teams want to emphasize 3pt shooting and layups
Windy has to manage his podcast etiquette a little better. Great knowledge except when to interrupt and when to let the other person get their point off. 😂
PG didnt want that contract(3 yrs 50M, lower than max(4 year 55M)). That makes him 20M per yr more expensive than harden and for 2 more years. I just dont see PG worth that much more than harden. Clippers need to make a move before the trade deadline to be contenders. IF they had signed PG they would be pinned to that contract.
B.I. being your 3rd best player is not a max player. Idky dude not tryna sign back in New Orleans. Nobody is paying him the max, if a team is. It’s a city that’s not winning anything. Brandon gone be playing for the Hornets or Portland. 😅😂
@@bluv5185 the clippers in general didn’t play in 2023 oh wait Leonard was injured. 2024 Clippers don’t care. All they want is tickets for next year sold. They were gonna lose anyways.
@@cavemanslayer in the 2023 playoffs clippers played the suns. And PG didn’t play at all. Kawhi played games 1&2 and was the best player in the series before he got hurt.
Hate when people that haven't played the game of basketball some how are professionals and major critics.... play a whole half of basketball for once in your life.... then you can talk about basketball..........
The Nets don’t need to trade for BI. And now the Nets don’t want to trade for anyone because they need to tank. Trading draft picks in their current situation would be very bad from a GM standpoint.
Team offensive efficiency and shooting percentage went up with harden. They went fromn 16th to 4th in the league. They lost rotational depth with RoCo, Batum, and morris which really hurt when PG, Harden, Zu or Kawi missed games due to injury. They got often run out of the gym shorthanded whenever somebody was out. building a lead and losing it as players are gassed. Kawi(career high 52.5% FG, career high shooting efficiency, 59%), PG(career high 47% FG and career high 55% shooting efficiency), Zu (career high scoring, 65% FGs). Todays NBA game puts a premium on 3 point shooting, every team will let westbrook shoot and clog the lane area for Kawi, harden. Westbrook has a FG efficiency lower than 50% for his entire career. Harden was 55% last year and has been in the 52-59% range for a decade except for the hamstring injury season. I'll take Dunn over westbrook because Dunn doesnt turn the ball over, plays touch D, can shoot the 3, and will get mann more shots. Mann needs to get more touches and I am hoping his shooting stroke comes back when he doesnt have to guard the best opposing player every night(jones will help). The team needs to get younger, they were the oldest team in the NBA last year and their play faded late in the season. One trade for a john collins type PF and the clippers can let Kawi play defense on SF's. Kawi is just not big enough to guard big young PF's for a whole season.
@@bluv5185 and they both choked together in the bubble Kawhi disappeared mysteriously wit injuries in how many series what’s your point. PG shouldn’t do anything but what’s best for him and the clippers were never gonna win anything anyway THEY ARE THE CLIPPERS
Even if whole LA comes they have Zero chance. Do you guyz know any 🏀 or just talk 💩 😂 Harden & Westbrick are there they will take care of things lol “How to screw the franchise” Podcast Paul is 💼 chaser Kawhi is like Derrick Rose bench player with min contract, gave him 50 million good luck
Holy hell are the Clippers down bad. If what that reporter is saying is true their plan moving forward is hoping to land a star in 2027 Free Agency (Shai or ANT, who I bet sign max extensions way before then), then they are so delusional🤣. But I guess when you don’t own any of your picks for 6 years or have any young players + aging stars what else do you have to hope for. Sorry Clippers fans.
Maybe clippers only saving grace is if they pull the move of the century, and somehow trade all their future picks and some young stars, to pair Steph and dray with kawhi in LA. Suddenly clips of would be the best LA team. Kawhi Steph and dray > lakers and Celtics and nuggets.
