@archimedesCNC Thanks for the feedback. The hammer I am using is a Fretz embossing hammer. You can purchase it from any number of places including Contenti, Otto Frei, Gesswein and Rio Grande. They are very nice hammers. I love mine.
@ciszu2, there was a nice discussion on this on one of my metalsmithing forums after I made this video and it was determined that even though this bag had sand in it, it is still considered a "shot bag." In days past, shot bags were made with little granules of small bead like metal called shot. As the smith would hammer into the shot bag, the shot would break down to become more like sand. So in the end, there really is no difference between the two, other than craftsmanship, of course.
The Potter shot bag looks beautifully made. I'd ordered a shot bag a few days ago, ran a search, and came across your video. This seems like a lot of fun. I mean, anytime you get to swing a hammer....
