I did something similar to this but instead of a mug it was a large vase. Simply throw a large cylinder, do this "wiggle wire" technique, apply sodium silicate, dry out the sodium silicate (so it creates cracks when pushed around) then from the inside push out a vase like shape. It turns out just beautiful

I have no idea why I have not yet tried pottery. I've wanted my hands on that spinning clay since the first time I saw it - about 40 years ago. I envy you for being able to do this.

if you buy different springs from a hardware store you can stretch them in to wiggle wires

you can use a spring from like a pen or anything and stretch it. it works pretty well if you cant find or arnt able to find a place to buy the tool and you can stretch it until you find the style and size you like wich you cant do with the tool

I have always wanted to be able to do pottery and glass blowing. Money dictates what we get to do, sadly.

So a wiggle wire isn't a piano wire :/ could you use the wedge with teeth to get those grooves????
