I timed myself and it took me about 1.5 hours to completely pot these up, I don't actually mind it and I took advantage of that time to listen to some gardening podcasts.
I hope this video inspired you and didn't scared you at all :)

I appreciate this video! It’s very helpful to see the details of how you do things, especially with these small seedlings being potted up. I’m doing more of the starting a bunch of seeds in trays first, then moving into individual cells. I like how you placed them on their side first, then gently pushed down the root ball in the center of the cell. I’ve been hesitant to deal with this step, afraid to hurt the seedlings during transplant. Now I have the confidence. Thank you! ♥️ You have a great way of sharing and teaching. Please keep it up! 👩‍🌾🌱🌸

It's all helpful! New Gardeners are learning every day. What one person doesn't teach them, another one will! Besides you have all of those really cool containers! I really like how you plant in bulk. Look at all of those Snap Dragons! I'd be in Heaven! Your Gardens never disappoint. Peace.

in the past I do the broadcast method and then pot up into the mini soi blocks. This year I decided to try to start them all in the mini's and OMG some of those seeds are so tiny. I'm scared I'm going to end up with like 10 in a block ahahahha, but it'll save some of the potting up this year.

Wow! Your seedlings look amazing. Your snaps are so big compared to mine. This year is the first year I did a mass planting like this and its worked out great. I got the idea from watching your videos so thank you for that. I was nervous about separating them but you made it look so easy. Do you fertilize your seedling with liquid fertilizer even though you use potting mix? And also your nails look fabulous:)

I enjoy potting up my seedlings. I did my snaps recently. I purchased some 5x5 trays this week. I've seen you use them over the years and I really think they will work well for me. I'm also growing some Violet geraniums (Maverick violet from Swallowtail Seeds) and 2 of mine have blooms! I did start them pretty early. But crazy, they really look more red than any kind of violet to me, even away from the LEDs. Good to know I suppose, that will help me decide where they will be planted.

That happened to me last year, I purchased a double - dark burgundy color and it came out a single hot pink lol my mom got most of them

Roxana, I feel you! I decided to do this today. I started with my poppies. Hundreds and hundreds of them because those darn seeds are so small! I swear I had 100% germination and I started 5 different kinds of poppies. By the time I was done potting them all up, I looked at my snapdragons and decided I’m planting them all out in the garden tomorrow instead of potting them up. There’s a lot of those, too. Same with the Bachelor’s Buttons.😩

This is how they started seeds in a greenhouse I worked at for a little while. Makes total sense. I haven’t purchased the trays to do this easily, might need to figure something out for next year…I invested in heavy duty cell packs and 10x20 trays instead. I love them, and am so glad I bought them, but it’s super annoying when you have a cell or two that doesn’t germinate in a 6 pack 😒

@SoilandMargaritas

I don’t. Mainly because my room is upstairs facing the south side so it’s pretty cozy (70-75) so I don’t need heat mats really, if your conditions are cooler definitely get one

I started using this method this year. It makes sense to not waste space on seeds that may not germinate. Your geraniums were quite big and I had some R. Sage that were big and what I noticed is if they stay in container too long the roots will go sideways and maybe best to take a spatula and lift them all out to separate. I’m being lazy today because I was out fertilizing everything before rain yesterday. We only got .70” but it helps. Need to pot up some sea Holly next and tomorrow WSow some annuals. Trying to hold off because with such warm weather we’ve had it tricks you to start too early. Hope everyone is safe from ongoing storms rolling through below us today and tonight as I seen some damage in IN on news. We will cool off again to 30s Sunday & Monday then be finally normal 40-50s next week. Thanks for all the ideas and love the Bootstrap Farmer stuff. Need to place another order soon. I like to up pot from tray to cell packs unless I know the plant is a fast grower then it’s 2.5” pots.

I love the way you are planting the seedlings together. Right now I have several cups of seedlings hanging out in my bathroom on the counter. I don't have a designated room. I should really clear out an area in my garage and use it for seed starting. Maybe next year.

I usually pack the soil into my seedling containers…now I thinking your way may work better. Is it just so that the roots have an easier time establishing?
@SoilandMargaritas
@SoilandMargaritas 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, I don’t really lack it… I just want to make sure I don’t have air packets… but not too tight. I can’t really say with confidence that tight soil will not help with the roots so 🤷🏻‍♀️
