How to remove the clutch without special tools and how to test and repair the oiling system on the little Poulan/Master Craft/Craftsman micro,1800,2000, 2350 cva micro xxv deluxe etc top handle 33 and 38cc Poulan chainsaws.
I'm currently working on the Craftsman version of this saw. I've already replaced the fuel line, installed a new carb kit and have it running. Replacing the oil line should be the last step. I looked at it after realizing the oil line was crumbly then called it a night after about 2 minutes because I couldn't figure out how to get the new line in. Feeding it through the top hole is the exact tip I was looking for. THANK YOU!
@mdmowrey right on yes now is the time to lube up that oiler mechanism and change the line/fuel filter etc then it’ll be good for another 45 years! Lol Try to run non ethanol fuel if you can as well. Even 10% ethanol seems to eat away at the lines/carb metal.
I have the 33cc mastercraft with chain brake. It runs well but is showing symptoms of crank seals leaking. I ordered some from the states and am looking into what needs to be done to change them. It's nice to see other people working on these. Thanks for sharing.
@billhacks is yours 33 or 38cc? I know mine is 38cc. Ya new crank seals,a new piston ring and grease up the clutch bearing, carb kit/lines and that thing will run great again.
If you have a few saws and work on them yourself i suggest investing the few dollars in a clutch removal tool. When used in conjunction with a small cordless impact driver it makes short work of clutch removal and doesn't require stopping the piston.
@johnnorris1227 ya I have tons of saws and I really should have the clutch tools but I just got lazy and never bought any yet. They come off pretty easy with a couple wrenches.
Hey ! Super good explanation and very inspireing ! I have a bunch of those saws and now I am going to give them real attention. Yes...they seems very good saws and they always seems running and not scorne. Just the fuel line need to be replaced and the carburetor ultrasonic cleaned and new gaskets in it. Also the oilers need to be maintained and now you gave me hope to get them oiling as well ! :-) I have Jobu, Skil and Pouland of that type. Ok
Great little saws ,got 3 of them myself a 1981 micro 25 deluxe (in need of repairs),2350AV Canadian made and 2400 wood master (last to be made) and all will chain brakes and working oilers and had a 25cc one but it went boom💥
I have 5 poulan and two shilt saws But I use the poulan all the time because parts are cheap and they are as good as the chain just like any saw is, plus if one goes down it’s only 2 hours to replace cly piston kit
hey Chris, does this info cross over to my wood shark or say maybe a wild thing? I imagine the process of disassembly might vary slightly of course, but the general idea is the same?
No those are totally different saws with an oil pump. Well there was a wood shark model in this chassis but I doubt yours is one of them they are not to common. On your saws the oil pump gears fail in them sometimes and you have to replace the pump. Look at my Poulan 2150 videos it shows the oil pumps in there.
