David, I took Spanish in high-school while my brothers and sisters all took French. We are from Pittsburgh Pa., and now that live in the southeast Raleigh North Carolina area, Spanish paid off for me as well. 90% of the construction workers are Spanish, and I am glad I know Spanish too. Especially being the regional superintendent and dealing with several Spanish folks. My brothers and sisters never moved and Pittsburgh doesn't have a multitude amouts of Spanish folks and we are French Canadian, so I guess French worked out for my siblings.

My son lives in Garner and is the new construction manager for Yellow Dot Heating and Air on New Hope Rd in Raleigh. He took Spanish for several years in high school and college. It's really paid off for him. Quite a few of his employees speak Spanish so it makes conversing with them very easy. It also stops a lot of trash-talking since they know he will understand what is said.

I liked your story about high school Spanish and French. I have similar stories to yours about using my Spanglish skills. I'm a few yrs. older than you and from So. Cal. (born and raised), and Spanish/French have been the 2nd language in the government school system forever.

Y’all can’t put plastic down on the ground before the rebar? I do that here in Louisiana all summer on all my jobs. It’s keeps the water in the concrete longer in the LA heat

Hi....im in Utah and having a new driveway installed soon. One contractors bid was good but did not include rebar or any reinforcement. He said with the mix he uses and a lot of control joints it is not necessary. We want to save money but don't want cracks. What do you think?

Why do you just lift up the rebar instead of putting down blocks to make sure it stays spaced properly, and doesn't come in contact with the ground? I suppose ground contact doesn't matter as much with fiberglass, but still...
