the coating is mostly sugar and it dissolves in water. you could try acetone. it should work and evaporate quickly enough to leave the color swirls as a residue you can put resin over.
I think you're right. Maybe you could stick them down with a thin bit of resin. Once set use the warm water, but let it bleed and then evaporate. Once done pour the final layer of resin. You could test it on a paper plate to see how much water you'd need and how long it would take to evaporate...
Do you ever just look back at all of the stuff you have made and think. “ wow I can’t believe I made such amazing things?” Your work blows me away and your projects rock!
This might be a overly simple suggestion but with a little bit bigger sides it would make a cool candy bowl, a TRUE candy dish. Still it's a neat project , keep up the good work!
Here's a challenge: Make a giant solid coloured Skittle or M&M out of resin but have the letters transparent like a window to the inside of it with some cool effects like rainbow film, glitter etc. Maybe a letter on both sides to see straight through? - Loving the channel and artwork, keep it up.
After setting the skittles in the resin, try heating the skittle up with a heat gun. Then pour the heated resin over like you did. I think you might get the effect you were looking for.
Someone else commented with the reasons that they watch your videos, and I wholeheartedly agree with all of those reasons. That said, I'd like to add one of my own... You show us the successes and the failures with equal love and care. I really appreciate that.
ben im sure ive commented before but love your stuff! i tend to watch when im nervous, and thats what i am right now. i start going back to school tomorrow and im a bit scared, but watching you is helping! and i love the strawberry skittles, and all of the tropical ones
Can you make a hedgehog with burl? If you find a round one, you can shave it down smooth for the face and leave the spiky burl top! I’d love to see it done. It might need to have space in the resin since it would magnify
I like the acetone idea and would really like to see if it works. You can also manipulate the colors better by blowing air with an air compressor. I’ve seen it on acrylic pour art pieces. I still think your creation was beautiful. Thanks for the video.
I'm obsessed with black light and glow in the dark stuff. I have done crafts with black light paint chips. That I made with just putting paint on plastic sheets and chipping of. I wonder if you can try something like that. If it worked I'm sure the results would be cool 😎
You do beautiful work!!! I love how the alcohol inks look much better than the original which looks like paint running. It’s so pretty I would put it on a plate stand somewhere some light would hit it from the back. So pretty!!
I think this turned out really cool. You know how you put the ice cubes in resin, maybe freeze the candy in ice cubes. Each cube would change color. I dunno just a thought. By the way orange is my favorite. 💖💖💖
I can see that getting pride of place filled with the family sweetie of the month, its so pretty. Can't think how the colours will run in just resin, this could become a really complicated experiment! I'm so disappointed I missed live but 👍 and Thank you.
I was wondering whether a blast from a heat gun might have melted the sugar/ colour from the skittles to encourage the colour - runs. Great project as always ben. Always a highlight of my Saturday mornings..thank you 👍🏻
This is STUNNING! A little deeper in the center and it would make an awesome Candy dish! 🍬 Also, the reveal music at the end is so perfect! I'm obsessed with your videos, your craft, the ideas you come up with, and ALWAYS the end results!! Thank you! 💜👍🏻
Loved it.. It would make a good wheel handle for a milling machine, table saw and even a lath that uses a wheel as a handle control.. A friend of mine used wood, brass & resin to make a awesome steering wheel.. Thank you for sharing..
Nice end result. I think the way to do it properly would be to use a minimal amount of hot water to get the colour bleed, allow the water the evaporate (maybe put it in a oven on low heat to speed up the process) and then cover it in resin.
I went to the very end result first. Literally skipping over the video. Saw the finished result and was impressed. Never thought that you improvised for the color bleed. I also liked the dish as your item and not a bowl. So I went back to watch the video. Thank you.
I think it came out great buddy. Very cool. The finished product looked awesome. It would look really cool as a lamp with the light shining through. Really psychedelic
I can’t help but think it’d make a fun candy dish 😄 I know it didn’t work exactly how you wanted but it was still a fun (and colorful!) watch! Thanks for sharing Ben!
That came out very cool! I think the inks are a great idea, allows for more control and leaves some of the "S" logos intact on the skittles. Would make an excellent candy dish.
Skittles all have the exact same flavor 😉 different scents and different colors, but same flavor. Also it's a pretty cool piece, if you do it again you should keep all the S's the same direction
I mean, flavor is highly dependent on smell, so I think they are different. If you clip your nose (which was what this misconception came from) they all just taste like sour sugar but I’m sure that’s the same with most fruity candy
@@remjoleea5560 right but if you actually go to the manufacturer, they don't deny the fact that the inside if skittles are all the same. I mean, do you really sniff each skittle before you eat it?
I've always wanted to play around with resin. But I don't have the money or availability for all the equipment you use. You make some of the most coolest stuff.
I’d put a bulb 💡 underneath it to make a table lamp or have it upright with the bulb 💡 behind it looks great 😊 well done I’d love to take up resin art but I’ve had a look round and it costs a bomb here in the UK sadly plus I’d need a Lathe etc maybe in the future hey thanks for posting Ben 😊👍
While it's unfortunate that the colors didn't run with resin, your solution turned out SO PRETTY!!!!!! I wonder if using hot alcohol would work better for the colors before putting resin over it 🤔
Nice workaround! 👍🏻 It kinda reminded me of when the “Mythbusters” would bust a myth, then duplicate the results another way. 🙂 As far as what to do with it, you could modify the shape a little, and it would be an awesome candy dish.
Possible use for the skittle resin thing: Clock. Some long and thin gold hands, with as small of a clockwork as you can find (ideally circular) in the middle. Instead of putting numbers on the face of the clock, 4 colorful narrow triangles at 12, 3, 6 and 9 should be plenty.
