in most iterations of the myth Hades kidnaps her (and in some even SA's her, and in some she's even a minor) and Persephone is miserable and the relationship is very toxic. and the myth is more centric on Demeter's loss of her daughter and the fact that it was her own brother that did it to her. There's a reason she never comes to terms with the fact that her daughter is married to Hades and is heartbroken every fall and winter. There wasn't anything she could do because Persephone had already eaten a pomegranate which essentially tied herself to Hades. Zeus cut in and made the compromise that Persephone could live with Demeter on Olympus in the spring and summer, and with Hades in the underworld during the fall and winter. In this common iteration, Persephone had no choice in anything and she gets no real justice. Usually the other more modern versions of this myth are what you're talking about, and mostly for kids and everything is consensual and Demeter is considered more of an overbearing villain mother. Still an uncle and his niece though, which continues to get ignored even in modern iterations?? I personally don't find him to be a good lover, if you do want to see a good example of healthy relationships in Greek myths, they're often between two men. (I personally assume this is because Ancient Greek relationships were mostly homosexual between two men, women were kinda there just to make babies at the time aside for a few cultures in lands in and around Greece like the Etruscans, I just studied this in a world art history class last semester.) Take Apollo and Hyacinthus (tragic love story between a demigod and a god), and Achilles and Patroclus (tragic love story of a power couple). Both stories are tragic but their relationship itself is so much better than what any iteration of Hades and Persephone could provide (in my opinion). apologies for a whole Ted Talk, I'm a myth nerd!
@@heeheejackson totally makes sense for the time period these myths came from! however it does not make much sense to still include incest in current media's retelling of the stories in order to modernize the myths, because in our modern culture, at least in most cultures nowadays, incest is not normal and is frowned upon and considered an old, bad tradition. If we were truly modernizing it we would not include the incest and we would find a way to work around it. Some media does this already and it's often great, but some just completely ignores it and people who know the myths like myself are left weirded out.
It would be better if they were actually singing. Sure, their acting is still amazing. But they are still lip syncing so they already have some of the project provided for them.
Persephone Actually chose to stay with Hades after a while in the under world because she was so tired of the same thing with her mother, but half the year she went with her mother and the other half with her husband, she even as much as killed a nymph who was spreading rumors that she was sleeping with hades when his queen was gone, and Hades praised her for it and made and oath that whoever got in the way of their relationship would perish
Pretty sad when the scary lord of the underworld treats his wife with the most love and respect of all the other God's. They all just hatrass and assault whoever they feel like and treat humans as toys to mess with when they're bored 🙄
This is such a beautyfull way of ilustrating the love story of Hades and Persephone. She was forced to love him at the begining but then she trully did. I like to think that Hades felt bad for what he did to her even tho I know it was never going to hapen. I love the new content that you'r making, I think It’s grate and can’t wait to see your net video
I feel dumb. I looked up Brigderton and found out that it's a TV show. Tho it's rated TV-MA so I won't watch it. (The max I do is PG-13) It's too bad tho cause this show seems really interesting.
I wondered if anyone else would comment this. Totally the 1st season of bridgerton summed up musical style. Not even close to the story of hades and persephone!
Persephone is actually very happy with hades, they have many kids (like…. 1k… over 6k years) hades is actually the only god who’s a halfway decent father, a good husband… and all of this from a man who runs the underworld… who woulda thought
When you realize that Hades made up the whole eating food in the underworld not *just* to keep Persephone with him, but because she did NOT want to go back to her mother, and he did what he could to protect her by making up that rule. But in the end, her mother won because otherwise people would have starved to death because she wouldn't allow plants to grow in her winter. Hades is the real one.
You should do the story of Callisto If you don't know how the story goes is she was one of Artemis followers and vowed to stay unwed but one day she was bathing and Zeus thought she was beautiful and made himself look like Artemis, he then talked to her and she was about to leave the water but he grabbed her rist and he was stronger then her so he SAd her a few months later she was pregnant and Artemis found out and turned her into a bear after her son was born she was then later on hunted and died edit: sorry if I got anything wrong it's been awhile since I read the story
I wouldnt mind being married to hades. Hes a great hubby from what i hear. Sadly him and persephone are perfect and i would never wanna get in their way. I have my fantasies at least. But if they want a 3rd i volunteer as tribute!!! xD
Someone give this girl an Oscar. She is an amazing actor and I watch every single one of your videos. I also love acting and you give me so much inspiration! Love you so much Cae!
I love that hades usually isn’t represented in a bad way just cause he burns in the underworld. Death is a normal occurrence in life and I’m glad hades isn’t evil like per say Lucifer, or The devil.
I love these these duets! Your normal videos alone are amazing but when you an another spectacular actor to them it makes them even better! Keep this up! It is amazing to watch you doing these and growing in your acting skills
Persephone was the daughter of Demeter. she was a very pretty girl. Hades thought so as well. So he kidnapped her. He took her to hell with him. Hades and Demeter made a deal. Demeter would get Persephone for half the year and so would Hades. Well, Demeter controlled the season. Like snow, rain and stuff. Spring would be when Persephone was about to come to earth to live with Her. Summer was when Persephone was with Demeter. Fall was when she was about to go back to Hades. Winter was when she was with Hades and missed her.
The two of you together gives me such a mix of emotions!! I'm a child of the 80s and it held some of the greatest fantasy movies. The two of you bring me such a sense of nostalgia. I wish the two of you could do a movie together.
I love your mythology content! I'm a bit of a geek myself thanks to percy jackson since it's my favourite series. Your content is wonderful and your such a great RU-vidr and actress! I hope you continue to create mythology videos. Keep up the great work! ❤❤
I know this video is probably purely out of entertainment but Hades is actually considered a really great husband in Greek mythology. Also, Persephone also realized that she loved hades in the end so it worked out.
As someone who’s name is Persephone I have learned a lot about the goddess and yeah her and hades were probaly the most calm couple after they got married and had the agreement with Demeter.
Technically speaking, she wasn’t kidnapped. The original hymns that this myth is based on described the story as an arranged marriage approved by Zeus. It literally goes out of its way to absolve Hades and blame Zeus for not telling Demeter. The only iffy thing Hades does is convince Persephone to eat those pomegranate seeds.
