I thought I'd make another windy road POV driving video, this time with the Corvette C7 Stingray Z51. I also mounted a separate mic by the exhaust, you're welcome ;) Thanks for watching everyone!
I loved this car as soon as you started driving it. The sound is great and i believe that no engine sounds as good as the American V8 sounds and that's including the Shelby GT350 too. Actually, the Lexus RC F v8 sounds good too but the American V8 still is the best sounding car to me.
@@BiGMoFFen Now that many years have passed I want to change my statement, the GT350 is the best sounding engine to me. I just watched Throttle House's video on the Huracan and I still think that the GT350's engine sounds better then even the Huracan's engine sounds. I don't know what I was thinking.
Review is very helpful I'm looking to buy a c7 like that seems like it shifts fast enough I bet it's smoother then a 10 speed I drive a 2020 10 speed gt they shift fas but they do shift rough
Great video I just bought a 2019 identical like the one you got is white with a black trim it's not the Z06 I'm in the process now of shopping around I'm trying to order me some black rims and the red calipers like you have on yours I think that'll look pretty Sharp where I work a friend of mine just bought a 2016 his black mine's got the glass smoke glass t-top his is a painted like his hood the t-top he's got automatic with the power the pedals I've got seven speed manual transmission I have paddles also but I'd rather shifted the manual seven speed I got an extremely good deal on it might as well I got 4,000 miles brand new got red seats black carpet and I love it I drive it to work everyday back home it's got the power if I need it it turns a lot of heads when I pull up to a store somewhere people come out and look at it ask me all about it I stand and talk for 23 minutes at a time
I live in S Fla ,,2004 vette ragtop...I took off the visors, as they detract from my convertible experience...I have a hat behind the seat for when the I head east most mornings..I love the new vettes, but wish they would do something with the visors..camaros have visors that fold over the windshield beam...CHEVY...FIX THIS....
I used to have a Muncie 4-speed in my '67 Camaro. Got tired of working the heavy-duty clutch in rush-hour traffic. So, when I ordered my 2017 Grand Sport, I opted for the auto trans. I think the paddles are rather useless and more of a gimmick. I mean the computer in Drive mode is most efficient and best at judging as to when to shift gears. That's why the auto trans is slightly quicker than the manual in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. BTW, 80% of 2017 Corvettes produced have the auto trans.
My 2015 camaro has paddels and they do actually serve a purpose. In drive you gotta rely on the computer to change gears. That computer cant account for your planned path. What i mean by this is that if you were instead using the paddles on a road or circuit course with lots of sharp corners and elevation changing turns etc etc. the paddles would allow you to select a gear lower then what the cpu would shift to. Thus allowing you to stay high in the rpms. Its all comfort though. I feel confident that i would lay down a faster time on a backroad with the paddles then a computer. However c7 have better tech and in track mode it may do what i do with the paddles. Just my 2 cents.
You shouldn't base new cars off of your experience in older cars. I can press the clutch in on my cars with my pinkie finger if i wanted... Okay that might a bit of an exaggeration. But a 67 Camaro is light years away from the tech we have now. Hell a car 2 or 3 years old is considered pretty outdated now a days considering every year cars are getting better and more advanced. A car with 1000hp can have a clutch as light as a feather now a days.
That's a beautiful driving position. With the 7 speed It'd fit like a glove. I hear ya on the grandspoet but I'd take a used c7 z06 vs a new Grandsport
Exoticars19 holy shit you're the first RU-vidr to ever reply to my comment! What kind of exhaust is in the car because my dad just bought the stingray and he wants to make it loud!
haha, I always reply when I can. This is actually the stock exhaust with the values open. You can go into the car's settings and have the track mode exhaust on all the modes.
I just don't feel comfortable driving sprightly around others especially in neighborhoods and such. I really only open it up when i know i have time to react and only do so If I'm not bothering others. The way it should be IMO
That sounds soo much louder then mine But i dont know how to set the exhaust sounds on it Usually drive it in tour and sport but it get quiet fairly quick after punching it you know And i want it loud all the time lol
Thanks for watching! And you might assume I'd take the Corvette over the BRZ in all cases but really, it depends on the road and the type of driving. Mostly because this Vette is an automatic. For daily driving, I'd much rather drive the Corvette. For bombing down the freeway, Corvette again. For windy road driving, depends on the mood i guess haha. Sometime I want to really step on it for longer, heel toe rev match, etc. I enjoy the BRZ more for that. Then again, the C7 is just as enjoyable because of the exhaust note alone haha ;D
why does everyone bag on the 8 speed auto? it's so weird. i've owned both and enjoy both. I actually like the 8 speed auto in this car. my shifting (manual) is pretty average and just required too much work these days. my next car is going to be a 2016-18 vette, AUTOMATIC
Hey I'm going to be honest with you I'm new to this and I'm looking for a sports car and I was wondering if you could help me out how's the visibility on this car and fuel efficiency and maintenance thanks
@@AlejandroP1980s On the Corvette c5 you get about 18 miles per gallon and visibility is ok. The side view mirrors are small though. Theres a HUD which is handy too. Idk about new corvettes though
Would you say it’s hard to drive? I’ve driven powerful cars before but I currently have a truck and if I’m making the switch I want to be prepared for the power 😂
Im a little late to the party but I drive a 2007 saab 93 fwd with about 200 hp. Had the opportunity to drive a friends 2019 c7, power was easily manageable. Got to the backroads and turned off tc and let it fishtail a little bit and it went just fine. If a 17 year old can handle a c7 I think you can.
the reason the paddles are not as responsive is because you don’t have it in track or sport 😭 and i couldn’t see that well but having it in the M on the shifter is good too 💀
I HATE slow responding paddles. The A8 paddles were slow in my Camaro ss, I traded for a manual after 3 months. The C7 is cool but not a fan of the direct injection and you need deep pockets if you want to heavily mod the LT1.
Of course it's an automatic, unless you get a dual clutch system they always lag like this and it'll drive you crazy. It's very jarring and feels like the car isnt listening to you.
Naw, this has to have an X-Pipe or some type pre cat delete. I have a new Grand Sport A8, and the exhaust does not sound like this , especially the gurgles and snaps on throttle lift. This sounds very much like the Borla X-Pipe 60547! If you bought the car pre owned, I will bet you will find an X-Pipe hidden under the flat floor shield under the car! :)
It is technically faster going from one gear to the next but there is a longer delay before that shift happens and after you flap that paddle. However, there are companies now that can change the pressures in the transmission to make the delay shorter and the shifts even faster. There will always be people that prefer the good ol' manual trans just because they feel it is more a more engaging experience, to each their own.
So you are saying it is not as good as a PDK but that's ok because it costs less? Sorry bud, that is not an excuse, ZF's 8 speed auto is way better than GM's and can be found in cars ranging from a lowly BMW 328 to a F-Type SVR. GM fucked up with this gearbox.
Better than GM isn't saying much. Plus, the 328 is nowhere near as good as a PDK and the SVR is nearly 2-3x the price of a Vette... bud. Plus, anybody looking into a Vette should probably just get a manual and problem solved. Anybody who doesn't care, is fine on automatic mode.
Exoticars19 No need to be upset, man. First you say that the 328 is not as good as the PDK (comparing a car to a transmission), and then say the F-Type is more expensive than the Corvette. That does not make sense. The point is, ZF's 8 speed transmission is just way better (more responsive), than GM's 8 speed or even the 10 speed. I am only stating that the same tranny can be found in a wide range of cars. Even the Hellcats have one (ZF8HP90). I get that the 8 speed in the Corvette is nice, but nice is not good enough for a sportscar.
How doesn't that makes sense? I just stated facts. I said that the corvette shouldn't be expected to be as good as a PDK because it's a much cheaper car. Then you say that's not a good excuse and bring up the 328 & SVR as examples. Which I don't understand because the 328 is not as good as the PDK and the SVR is in a totally different price range. (2-3x the price of a Corvette) I don't know where that got lost in translation. Also, those 10 seeds are pretty good, but also not as good as PDK. Remember, this started off a comparison with PDK...
Exoticars19 Ok, I will try to be as clear as I can. You compared, in your video, the Corvette's tranny with Porsche's and concluded something like "it isn't as good but it will do because it is cheaper". MY point was: GM auto is not ok, even considering price difference, since a transmission that is around since 2008 and can be found EVEN in a 328, is better. The transmission in a 328, is better than a transmission in a Vette. The same ZF transmission (with some changes) can be found in the Audi RS6, Dodge Challenger 394 T/A, and the Rolls Royce Wraith. See? I am strictly comparing gearboxes. I am merely pointing out the the same 8 speed from ZF can be found in cars that are both cheaper than the vette(like the challenger), and more expensive than a porsche (the RR). YOU said the 328 was nowhere near as good as the PDK. I said it is damn nearer to the PDK than GM's 8speed. To put it simply, the Corvette should be able to hold its own agains Porsche's best, in every aspect, including its gearbox, while being cheaper, that is the car selling point. Saying it is ok if it sucks because it is cheaper, won't do.
Ok, I have no clue where you stand but my opinions haven't changed. Either way, neither of us have a say in the automotive industry as to what tranny they decide to put in their next car so this isn't going anywhere.
@@califaern3sto they don’t make c7s anymore my g, I have a 2019 c7 stingray with an 8 speed and that was the last year they made them. C8s have 10 speeds though, too bad they have zero interior space so u can’t daily it. I just notice that 10 speed auto Mustang gts and certain cars with 10 speed shift a little smoother than my car.
