I've been looking at possibly putting one of the chargers from these on my truck (97 f150, normal truck). I can't stand supercharger whine, at least not hellcat levels of supercharger whine so I'm wondering how loud it is, you having owned this truck for awhile you might be able to tell me Specifically how it whines under normal operation.
It doesn't bother me as a matter of fact I like the whine. If you don't like the whine consider a flatter supercharger like what's on the C7 Z06... I also had a roush on my 2020 GT and there was little to no whine
I think you live fairly close to my area where did you take the lightning to have the tune, Name of the shop would be greatly appreciated thank you, love your videos, new subscriber.
The Whipple is an upgrade. From the factory I guess it has an Eaton but I was under the impression before it was a Ken Belle. Either way it does have a pulley upgrade
I just bought a 13,000 mile 2001 lightning. I’m torn between keeping it OEM because low miles or putting a pulley, CAI and a tune. I am assuming that’s what you’ve done to your truck.
@@luvmysrt yes for the most part. Some OEM stuff I wanted had to have my local ford dealer find a store that had the part I wanted but it’s never been a issue
Im in Cali also, where can i get my Lightning tuned? I really want to get some longtube headers and a full 3 inch exhaust thats pretty much it. Let me know if you can
I own a syclone and very impressive 60 foot... after that the lightning will eat the syclone alive. Thus the reason I'm selling the syclone and keeping the lightning
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction Wait,.....what!!!! You think that Lighting will beat the Syclone in the 1/4 mile?? Because I'm sitting here right now with the 2015 Motortrend magazine with both trucks that says "Old school vs New School" tasked with all the performance things Motortrend requires pitting the two head 2 head. I can tell with 1000% positivity that you sir,.....are wrong. That Lighting is a whole 1.06 sec slower on the quarter mile sir. The only thing it out performances the GMC at,....is speed braking🤣🤣😭. And it's so small of a margin it's a mook point. Matter of fact,.....the GMC Syclone will gap a 2015 Vette in the quarter mile. Aaaaaand a 2015 Mustang 5.O.. So I'm sure you love your Lighting and are a tad bias. But in reality sir,......its a really heavy Mustang with a supercharger that CANNOT beat the GMC Syclone in any area of performance. Period. Sorry my guy. Maybe get yourself a Cobra. It'll barely beat the Syclone.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍 Would you like a link to prove my point??? There are many.
@@theariesexperiment4642 hate to disagree but my lightning will kill my syclone, no doubt about it. Like I said the syclone is great to foot brake, build boost and go...and would jump out ahead of the lightning to maybe 100 foot and that only because the syclone will spin. After that the lightning will walk the syclone. Of course the lightning has a little more power that it did stock. And no way does the syclone beat the C7 in a quarter mile. I have also had one of those as well 👍👍
Those syclones are quik as hell.. My lightnings got a built engine and the syclone still beat me.. Not by much but i have well over 20 grand in the engine alone and stock syclone beat me lol.. Anyhow the syclone is fugly tho and dont sound as good
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction dude I got well over twenty Grand in my lightning with the Whipple supercharger h-beam racing rods Manley crank Springs valves. 527 lift crower cams.. Patriot ported heads 80 lb injectors walbro pumps a custom 102 mm mass air flow sensor I think I got about 600 and some horsepower true horsepower in a stock Cyclone still whooped me. My lightning is running the SC2 tuner and I don't have everything turned up maximum because my lightning a setup for dependability. I wish I would have went with the Dual cam setup though no matter that Cyclone beat me or not they are ugly as hell and they don't sound nearly as cool as a lightning
