this helped so much. i changed from first person to third person omniscient with already having 36 pages in. but oh well, at least i figured out the right point of view now than later.

I have learned a lot from you. Thank you. Try a few deep breaths before your presentation. If you slow your pace to a more conversational style you’ll increase your ‘street cred.’

I really agree with this. I enjoy the content quite a bit, but my enjoyment would be much more if the speaker's pacing was less...hm, what's the word? Breathy...?

I totally agree. You need to slow down and enunciate. Your words tend to fall off at the end of your sentences. Please speak up and slow down.

I have a wip with an omniscient narrator and I wanted to just do third limited but *damn* it's so hard for me to write in 3rd limited. (Also it's 130k words so changing the pov would be such a massive undertaking) It's just so much easier and more natural to me to write in 3rd omniscient and really focus on doing it right.

I'll be recommending your videos to my students. They'll likely need to slow the videos down quite a bit, as your narration is too fast for non-native English speakers below an Upper-Intermediate level. However, the content is great and is presented in a clear, logical manner. The video also lacks the extra "fluff" that often distracts learners and doesn't leave out any critical information that they need.

I think 3rd omniscient would be a good POV if your protagonist is insane or something and you want the reader to know what’s actually going on.

I've had an idea recently of what I'm calling 1st person omniscient. I'm not sure if I will be using it, but it will from the perspective of a character that is practically omniscient. They will at the beginning seem to be just a narrator, but they will slowly enter the story as a character.

I have a question. As an omniscient narrator do I always have to reveal exactly what's going on? For example, Let's say I'm writing a horror story and a character hears strange sounds coming from outside her house. As the narrator, I know that there's a killer outside but my character doesn't. But can I withhold that information in order to create mystery and tension or is that considered switching POV?. Thanks.

You can still withhold information!

Hi, in third person omniscient can there be dialogue in the story without the narrator right there? For example, the narrator is describing an accident and in doing so has dialogue between the driver and passenger but he's not in the car.

What point of view would an author use if he or she wanted to tell the story around one main character but also wanted to chime in with opinions from time to time, even addressing the reader. Can an author use third person omniscient to follow a single main character and to have the narrator chime in from time to time with an opinion? Or would this be a different point of view style? I would like to tell the story from one character's point of view, but also want to be able for my narrator to provide his own insights here and there, as well as having the option to describe a few events and details elsewhere that the main character may not know about or think about. I do not want to head hop or tell the thoughts or feelings from other characters - I simply want the narrator to tell the thoughts and feelings of a single character (like in third person limited), while having the option to narrate opinions and explain events elsewhere. To me, this sounds like third person omniscient, except instead of narrating the other characters' thoughts and feelings, I am keeping it to one character's thoughts and feelings - while revealing facts that may be happening elsewhere that the character may not know about. If what I am describing is third person limited (due to the point of view being a single character), then how do I rectify wanting to tell other events elsewhere not to their knowledge and have the narrator occasionally give his opinion. To me, this sounds like it wouldn't be third person limited, and instead it would be third person omniscient. Sorry if this is confusing.

Yes, that would still be third-person omniscient. Basically, the narrator himself has a voice in the story. Even if it is just him and the one character.

So basically it is a part of superego derived intellegence. It happens when things become so easy. Then it is hard to get approach to clarity. So person use third person approach. Because many things are going in the head. So in this way we all can achieve it nicely. I am also that kind of guy.
