+DerbJd Definitely an "I'd do it in my car/truck/whatever, but not in someone else's if they're riding shotgun" sort of trail. Mr. Regular is cautious with other people's vehicles. I'd probably do it in my old Volvo if I was dared to, though.
Mr. Regular would be the kind of guy who starts yarning about some trivial history of any certain place he's familiar with when a stranger asks for directions.
What always struck me when driving the TJ was how truck-like that AMC engine was. That thing would pick up and crawl at like 600~700rpm with no complaints, and the torque was so bottom-rich that you'd never have to pass 2000rpm when accelerating in a city. Gives nothing but noise past 4000 though.
+Alberto Gamez Absolutely not, My bronco see's worse than that every day on the dirt road to my shop and I'm never out of 2wd. Only time 4hi or 4low is necessary is when climbing something really rough and steep in the dirt, or maybe when its a lot of mud, usually though its never needed.
+Alberto Gamez Well here in PA the type of dirt, silt, and mine rock that's in these old mining towns is really slick and the GoPro distorts a lot of it. When I come back from my rides in the silts and the hill climbs the camera makes it look like it was nothing.
My dad just bought a 99' Wrangler SE with a 5 speed. It's our first Jeep and he bought it to pull behind our motorhome and as a spare vehicle. It's just a 4 cylinder sadly but the manual transmission makes up for it and it's a lot of fun, I love driving it with the top down and the doors off!!!. Now I want one because of my dad's! But I want a dark green Sahara with a manual, air conditioning and cruise control up to 2002. Wish me luck!!!
I love how every jeep TJ steering wheel leans to the passenger right a little but still drive straight. Drives me crazy on every jeep I've owned they have all done this.
Yeah, those people they talked to briefly were in a VW of some kind and had no issues. To be fair, though, it was Regular's first time driving a Jeep, so I can see why he wanted to take it easy.
It is strange to put Centralia PA into google maps. In map view you see a set of streets and cross streets like you might find in any small town. But when you switch to satellite view, you can see that the government tore all of the houses and buildings down after they relocated everyone. There are now only a handful of buildings left.
Sounds like it's the wheel hitting something not the tire. Had the same noise when I took my Moab wheels off and threw some regular steel wheels on my Jeep.
I've complained forever that Chrysler products are junk, but the Jeep TJ is one that I would own. Weren't the ones out of the early 90's still mostly an AMC design?
"I'm not gonna take that, that looks rough" To be fair, many sketchy trails I've taken look unassuming on video. That GoPro really doesn't do it justice.
littlearsehole75 I at least live in PA, but pretty far off. From the sounds of it, it's almost like our version of Chernobyl in a way, although a lot less so. Looks from this video like it's almost all just a cool offroader's or gravel-roader's paradise and mostly grown up, though. Makes me want to go there even more!
Not that there's anything wrong with TJ's. I just prefer simple, indestructable, dead reliable, military based CJ's. Not the most luxurious but they'll take you anywhere in the world you want to go and get you back home every single time.
+Venomous villain Yeah people really underestimate how loyal and reliable CJ's are. They're like the best dog one can imagine. the worst is that people often now classify jeeps as just willy's and wranglers. I have a hard time holding back every time some college douche goes "nice wrangler, bro"
+Tommy Long It's almost as bad here, people don't even know about anything other than tj and jk. All we have are hipsters with body lifts and auto transmissions With Flo-Grown stickers. Then all old jeeps to them are like you said willy's, not cj-5 or cj-2a. I wanna cry now
+john stipich He does reviews on cars that people in the area have. If they don't volunteer their car to be reviewed, there can be no review. So he'd have to find someone with a '76 280z willing to let it be reviewed. Usually, the people find him. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. He might check around to see what interesting cars people have, but they still have to be OK with it.
Hey, if you ever come down to Nebraska, I have a 1995 Cadillac DeVille Concours I want you to review. I think you would have some hilarious things to say about my car. Thanks!
I literally joked with my best friend about an hour before I saw this video "yeah, Regular car reviews guy should drive toriel thru centralia" :/. That's just freaky
After watching the review on this Jeep, I decided to go on Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist [But better]) and dang! They really do have a great resale value! Even the beat to heck ones that have panels falling off are 3k! I bet Jeeps are great but are they THAT great (the older Jeeps I mean)???
+Canadian Carguy247 If you ACTUALLY want to go offroading and use it then yea they are great for that, for a daily though they are a bad idea and not that great.
+Canadian Carguy247 it's the same thing with all of the old-fashioned offroaders that haven't changed too much since they were introduced. It's exactly the same with the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G-Class.
+Jesse Sammons I know they are a spectacular off-road vehicle especially if you dump some money into them. I just always think of a cheaper option like a 4Runner for example, cheaper than a Jeep, a lot easier to daily, and great off-road with or without mods. I know that Jeeps have story behind them and great character but i don't think I would want to buy one, just for there price. Just my opinion though, I know there are die hard Jeep fans, and all the right to them, I just don't think I could get used to the Jeep lifestyle.
+Matthias Schmitt That's a good point come to think about it, They really haven't changed much as a whole. I bet they are great machines once you get to off-road them but me personally I would go with a more affordable option if I were to daily and off-road it.
Your Rx-7 vid made me pee my pants. It was the 1st vid I seen of yours.......THX for filling my TopGear void...now that it is gone. :(...Also YOU need to do a mazdaspeed 3 review, not the newerish ones with that silly smiley face but a 2007ish model.
