POV of Santa Monica West Coaster - Pacific Park (August 2001) 

To be honest, I had forgotten it was purple when it opened as the only time I had seen it that way in person was when I recorded this video. Every other time it's been that bright yellow.

Hmmm. There must be another Sean Flaharty who loves Pantera and The Blitz as that wasn't me. Ronnie has given me a few shoutouts though. Perhaps I need to request Pantera.

To be honest, I have been back to the pier since 2001, but I don't believe I have ridden it since this video was recorded.

It has had a few different color schemes. I think it was red at one point. I can't remember if it was yellow when it opened.

I have some older videos to be released at a later time. I may only be able to visit Kings Island once this year when one of my friends from out of town will be there. I think in August. I don't visit the Ohio parks as much as I used to. Going to Japan soon to ride more coasters!

Since the 80's, I always wanted to visit Santa Monica Pier, even before the coaster was even an idea for the park. I was (and still am) a big fan of the old sitcom Three's Company. During the 80''s, the pier was the area where the opening and credits took place. The coaster was a bonus. :)

@@SeanFlaharty That’s awesome! I was 8 when it opened and wasn’t even aware of the pier pre-coaster. My Mom, however, visited P.O.P. Pacific Ocean Park, another pier in Santa Monica that had 5 creds at different times. It closed in 1967. I find it hilarious that Movie Park Germany has an entire area of the park themed to the SM Pier including the iconic sign you can walk under.

@@KentuckianaCoastersThe funny thing is I have visited that area at Movie Park Germany and knew it was beach themed but didn't realize the details of it being SM Pier themed until after I visited the park. We were only in the park for about an hour and went in just to get the credits.

In March of 2023 I was going to upload an "remastered" version of that same video, but in HDR, running off the PS5.Iit was also going to be more of a trip report/vlog style video using just the locations from the game. However, I wasn't able to successfully export a 60fps, HDR clip from what my PS5 recorded. It lowered the resolution and made it less than ideal for my project, so I scrapped it. It was going to be an April Fools joke.
