You've no idea how much this video taught me in terms of composition and unique perception. Loved the idea of taking photos from a lower angle to remove the water and lagoon. Please make more similar videos James. Love your work.
Absolutely loved it! It was great to see your thought-making process as it really helps to see how people like yourself view scenes and compositions. Keep up the great work 🤙
The gap in your legs was perfect when you walked 😂😂😂😂 love the videos James, nice to just watch what feel like relaxed, relatable non bias views on things. 👌🏼👌🏼 Get to Swansea for a photo walk 😜
love that idea of first person landscape photography. Also cool to "hear your thoughts" and how you approach a scene. Very interesting and learned alot! Thanks mate!
Really enjoyed this. Enjoyed having you talk us through your rapid photography method. So different than the usual landscape vids that go on endlessly about a single shot. Did I just reveal my inability to have a long attention span? Looking forward to more like this.
Great video James, very helpful to listen to your thought process before taking the shot and then seeing the finished image. It has given me plenty of ideas for my next photo walk. Thanks
Amazing video James, not as artsy as your previous no talking video, which was great by the way, what the heck I love what ever you do, your natural vocals are excellent, and your photos, well, they are superb, cheers James, more please.
Yeah man, really enjoyed this video. Granted I generally like all of your content, but you should just passively do this on all of your trips. It was really cool just seeing you do what you do and, sort of thinking out loud, and I love the images you were taking being slapped in the screen when you take them. Very nice. +1 vote for more.
“Tripod incident”... you tried to dispose of it, didn’t you? Another great video, I’m happy to watch either this week’s style or last weeks... but both really is best!
James, thanks for waffling. I binge watch your videos like the latest hit TV show because you’re engaging. But I can appreciate and support you experimenting and branching out. At the end of the day, it’s your channel so go make the content that makes you happy.
Great video James, good to here you waffle for 20 minutes again!! Think the view at 18:05 looked great for a portrait style shot, with those black lines in the snow and the mountain in the back!!!
Wau! Nice! Just nice to see how "sausages are really made" ;) this peeking behind the scene is very valuable and your comments just make it so interesting! Love your videos! Photos are super!
James, MFT is sorely under represented in the RU-vid space. I’m not a format zealot, but I really enjoy my MFT cameras and I’m glad someone like you is sharing your adventures using the awesome G9. I will also mention I enjoyed your last video. Calm, serene, and adventure stoking. I enjoy the ones where you talk too about the process. I especially like the POV because no one shows it! I think there is room for both. Just my 2 pence/cents
Great scenery, great commentary of what you were doing. How you don’t have more subscribers I’ll never know. Have a good week as well, can’t wait for the upcoming series 👍🏻
I was in Iceland in 2018 last 2 weeks of October. Landed in Reykjavik and got to Hofn. It was absolutely amazing. Now with your tips on composition and what to look for I’ll get better photos. Thanks for the great commentary.
Great video, I love seeing you in action and being able to hear your thoughts as you go about looking around and taking photos in these absolutely gorgeous places. Loved it so much I watched it twice and gave it three thumbs up, but sadly it only counted for one like... I'm sure you'll appreciate the effort 😉
Enjoyed the POV and longer format and what great locations, neither of which I've yet to see covered in snow. I don't think I could ever get tired of visiting Vestrahorn. I can't quite believe what a flimsy little tripod you took though, that's definitely just a fair-weather tripod, and as you know fair weather in an Icelandic winter is the exception not the norm.
Another belter... Running commentary is really informative.. Notice you mainly used live view when taking photographs.. is that better than using a viewfinder (you may not have one on your camera). Is it better to use live view to VF.? Also noticed you threw your camera around like a western gun slinger with a colt 45... What were you doing.. were in AV or what..? Be good to know how you flit between the settings..! Cheers mate...
Cool video! Nice use of Gopro, Definitely like this style of video, gives a different perspective. Good to listen to your methodology of how to set up a specific shot and the reasons to why you need/don't need filters etc. It would be cool to see in the future a mixture of this style of video along with your other styles! Keep up the good work.
James, i am impressed: a) you up in the morning b) rare but good use of filter and tripod, probably the only reason, beside night time, to use these c) these are probably the best pictures I have seen in a long time d) keep on talking, that's why I like your style
James, I could listen to you all day. DON'T be put off by the comments on the last vlog. Do what YOU want to do. Just editing a few images and will have you there as background "noise". I've watched the Sri Lanka vlog at least a dozen times. Went there a number of years ago and visited most of the places you did. Thanks for all your work, really appreciate it.
Iceland is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I was so overwhelmed that I didn't even really care about photography. One thing that I loved about it, was the emptiness.
That trip to Antarctica looks amazing but out of my budget sadly. I wonder though, will you be leaving from Hobart in Tasmania? A day trip to Mt Wellington or somewhere similar as a photographic workshop would be cool :), for us Tasweigans.
Super interesting. Do you always shoot from the back of the screen? Maybe I should try it rather than the viewfinder. I tend to take lots of photos from all over and need to spend more time on composition. Always learn from you. Thanks James!
@@JamesPopsysPhoto ah... that makes sense. Thanks! That shot of the Aurora is nothing less than spectacular. Will be getting a print of it if it's for sale.
And again, great video :) I'm wondering which lowepro backpack model & size you used there? And if you're like it comparing to peak design everyday backpack? :)
Great video as always. Good explanations of what you're doing and why. I will forgive the lack of 🐑 since they don't tend to hang out on the snow by the sea, I don't suppose.
hilarious that there is a part where you are mid conversation (with us) but another photographer beside you thinks you are talking to them, but you are just mumbling to yourself (us 🤪) lol Great video mate
Do you usually shoot in live view, or was that because of the pov recording for the video? It has intrigued me to try it. Always putting my eye to the camera. Great vid again your killing it!
Did you switch your backpack from the Mindshift Backlight to this Lowepro? If so, what do you like more about the Lowepro / what was wrong with the Mindshift? Oh and I REALLY like this type of videos, seeing your process of taking photos.
Great video as ever James! I know you're not keen on tripods, but what are your thoughts on monopods, especially for telephoto lens users? I've just got a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary on a Nikon D500, and it's pretty heavy! Cheers :)
"Get a move on" don't you mean, "get a mood on"? 😉 There were so many great photo opportunities that were shown on the way back that you didn't stop for, they were amazing. I wish you could have gotten a photo when the horse was looking at you.
Great video, first person view is a nice variation. Regarding focal length: I typically have the Leica 12-60 on my G85 when I'm outdoors. When shallow DOF is not an issue, what's the advantage of the 12-35? I don't have that lens and I wonder if there is a use case for me. I have the 15/1.7 if I need a fast lens.
I also only used my 10-stop filter once so far, and I've owned it for over a year now.. And the one time I used it, I also took the same shot without filter, and ended up liking the no filter version better.. 🙈😅 Love the pictures you took, it's so beautiful there! Would have loved to go to Antarctica, but sadly I can't afford it.. So unless I win the lottery.. 🙈 Will you be going to a part of Antarctica where you maybe can see arctic foxes? That would be so amazing, they're so cute 😍
Which focus mode are you using for this photoshoot? Do you ever use tracking and keep the focus on the centre and then recompose the shot? Just wondering what method you use for focusing...
