This is such a helpful video! I started on a singer simple. I think it’s a great first machine especially for clothing. Once I started sewing quilts and thicker items I upgraded to a singer heavy duty and I am in love!!

Hi, Brittan! I discovered your videos recently and I like them very much. I'm a retired teacher from Puerto Rico. Recently, on February, I bought my first serger, a one exactly like yours and in Walmart too. You are gone to love it! If you need help threading it , I learned easily with a video of Robert Joseph in You Tube (How to Thread Brother 1034DX Seger Sewing Machine). I think it's the best.

I'm partial to singers and have 4 different models, the one my parents bought for me that did the basics which might be vintage by now, a similar machine in that same series that has more stitch options (30.00 at goodwill), a more modern quilting singer (200 from my sister), and the vintage rocketeer slant machine just because (40.00 garage sale) The slant is supposed to be all metal parts and can go thru many thick layers. My mom had found a relatively new singer out for trash day and it appeared nothing was wrong with it except missing all the accessories and the power cord. I ran it manually to see if something was wrong with it and it didn't sew right. After downloading the manual, I found that the user had used the wrong bobbin. Once getting the right one put in and turning by hand, it sewed perfectly. I then spent about 50.00 on a new power cord and presser foot/accessory set for it and gave it to my daughter.
