What’s on your neck custom holder for the camera ?

I've been skimboarding on the east coast for four years now, but I am yet to catch a wave. I don't know what is preventing me from catching one. I feel like my one step is really good, and I run at a full sprint when I do it, but my board still sinks five feet into the water. Could it be my board? I have a Slapfish fiber glass and carbon board. Or is it just that the waves on the east coast are not good skimboarding?
