I shoot at night in Tokyo and you absolutely do not need an f1.2 lens to shoot great images at nighttime. I use an f4 lens with image stabilisation. A f1.8 is more than adequate in most cases. The Nikkor 50mm f2 is awesome on the street. I have the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 and if you really must have f1.2 for DoF I’d definitely recommend it.
@@lonewolfphotography My eyesight is not great and I’m not having any problems the E mount version zooms in as soon as you move the focus ring. With focus peaking it’s a snap. Seriously looking at the other Voigtlander E mount options now I have Voigtlanders in Nikon F and Leica M mount already. Cosina is really kicking it up a notch. Some of the M mount lenses are superior to my Leica Summicron and Summilux lenses to the point I sold the Leica glass. Many Leica M lenses are super sharp in the centre and have good CA and bokeh performance but fall apart at the edges and have stronger vignette. All fine if that’s what you’re after but I prefer better quality sharpness and brighter corners.
@@bradl2636 I've been talking myself out of buying it, but fear I will give in 😅. It Looks like a well built lens, 40mm would suit me I think as I found the 50 a bit tight at times.
@@lonewolfphotography Very solid build. I’m very happy with my 8 Voigtlander lenses across E M and F mounts. Feet zoomable 40mm option between 35mm and 50mm I think it’s perfect for street use.
Thank you, I really enjoyed my 3 full days there and hope to get back again next year. The highest ISO I used was 1000, whilst using the sigma 2.8 down some of the dark alleyways. Most of the time I was shooting around ISO 320/500.
Great video with some lovely shots! Looking to visit Tokyo myself next year, and as a beginner photographer want to start learning before I get there. Would you say it's pretty safe in Tokyo to just go out very late in the night and do some street photography on your own?
Thank you 🙂, hoping to have part 2 out soon. Very good question! I would go with 35mm, as the 50mm was very tight down the small alleyways. But having f1.2 was great for low light.
@@lonewolfphotography Yes I was just out in Shibuya a few nights ago with the 35gm on the A7IV and it was a lot of fun. A few photos I cropped a lil in post and and was able to get a different feel out of those shots .
the visuals are amazing. however its hard to understand when you talk. maybe add some subtitles or tune down the music when speaking. I like the content otherwise :)
Thank you 😊. I do not sell my presets, I have a few free that you can download. The link is still active on the editing video, if you would like to try them.
No problem, the link is in the description of the video. I have pasted the link to the video below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3CbLE76bi9o.htmlsi=--LYgCzDGyN7jt9t
I can see you’ve cropped in edit quite a lot. In my opinion that’s not really how a 50 should be utilised. Think going up close and accentuating your subject would be a better move.
