I Have the harbor freight gun, A craigslist 220v kitchen oven for 20 bucks, it also works as an excellent garage heater using a small fan and set to broil, Ha ha been doing it for years! I get great results, I do use Eastwood, as they have all the colors you want.

And don't forget, after you clean the item, get your fingers all over the piece.

I zipped tied the push button to the powder coating gun so you can use 1 hand on the gun and 1 hand to move stuff.

That is what I was thinking. The button is such a pain in the butt.

Spraying a part with paint prep is not the correct way to prep a part before powder coating. And do not use masking tape in your oven either because it will burn, possibly catch fire and it will cause damage to your finish.

Very good and succinct video.... I've watched dozens of powder coating vids and I own an Eastwood gun and I have a very good shot blaster .... and after a bit of trial and error I'm getting deeply satisfying results , however this video has given me more pointers and I have to say it's much better than any of the Eastwood powder coat vids ...Thanks Mark much appreciated

This actually kinda sucked the first guy walked off because it was boring and only wanted to see the finished product. Then the product is finished and we only see it up close for 2 seconds and then its on to cleanup.

Hi thank you for information on the fibreglass parts and do you always have too preheat parts before you powder coat them
@ClassicCarRestorationClub

Hello, Not all parts need to be preheated. It is a good idea to preheat cast metal items as the cast surface can hold oils and impurities and the preheat process serves to bake them out. I have had poor luck trying to powder coat Pot Metal parts though as it seems to always out-gas to some degree and create pits in the finish. Because the powder coating process requires an electrical current to pass through the material, Nonmetallic items must be "Flocked". A process of heating the material to 400-425 degrees fahrenheit, then applying the powder without electrical charge to the hot surface. Wrench Safe, MarkClassic Car Restoration Club Videos Membership

Hi can you powder fibreglass parts
@ClassicCarRestorationClub
@ClassicCarRestorationClub 6 лет назад
Hello, While the fiberglass cloth alone, would certainly hold up to 400-450 F. temps. I don't believe the resins would hold up or maintain their shape when subjected to these high temps for 15-20 minutes. There may be some specialty high-temp resins that I am not aware of, but they are not standard to automotive use. You may be better served by applying a Fiberglass Gel Coat. Hope this helps! Mark

You can clean, dry and then pre heat your part with a heat gun then apply your powder coat then slowly apply heat evenly with the heat gun and it will hold and adhere just fine.
