I know I've done a video on a Silver 2008 Powell-Peralta Steve Caballero 'Street' with natty edges but wanted to show the difference between my Blue 2018 and Silver 2019. The main difference is the Truck Hole Patterns, the Blue 2018 is New School and the Silver 2019 is Old School.
Some Info from skateone.com
About the Cab Street Artwork:
In 1987 street skating was rapidly gaining popularity. Steve Caballero not only excelled at vert skating but was a top contender on the "Street-Style" circuit. Powell-Peralta decided to introduce an additional Cab deck model specifically designed for street. Artist V.C. Johnson created a new dragon graphic with a bats & bones background. Cab's name was also created in the bat shape since Cab was into Batman at the time. The Powell-Peralta logo was made using the Animal Chin font, also a sign of the times.

Good catch on the nose dimensions being off. As far as the “Bats & Bones” goes, I must admit that I only learned of this from one of your previous videos from a few months back. I feel a little ashamed that I missed that over the years, lol. Three of my friends had this board when I was a kid and I don’t think anyone ever noticed that at all. I absolutely love watching videos that go into detail about the decks, and yours are always on the mark. Nicely done, my friend.

Thanks for the comments dude...truly appreciate them. I...much like yourself...enjoy getting into the details of the decks. Most of the info I collect is from SkateOne.com or Powell-Peralta.com. I'm by no means am an expect and have piles to learn but truly enjoying the process. Cheers👊🏼

Really good info! Didn't realize that about the bones silhouette - thank you for pointing that out! Also, really cool to know about the effect of the heat transfer and how it makes it easier to differentiate between OG and New.

Cab is one of my heroes from when I was a kid, and the dragon and bats is one of my all time favorite Powell decks. The blue is sick but they bring more than I want to pay these days. I have lime green, natty, pink, and silver. I have a nasty habit of just grabbing decks when I find them cheap. Hold on to that one, it's hard to put a price on memories. Also, it would be nice if Powell could make up their damn mind on truck hole patterns. I have my OG Bonite deck from back in the day. Serious razor tail and mismatched red and green Street Style wheels that are ground down to just about nothing. Recently replaced the risers with new red ones and had a hell of a time finding 4 hole red rails. Love that busted ass looking board.

Cab is killer for sure. Ya...it does suck that my blue one has new school hole patterns but seems like they're sticking with the old school pattern now on their reissues which makes the most sense. Those Bonite decks were pigs...super heavy.

I haven't seen anyone with Mini's yet. I had a Mini Hawk (white with purple like crosses) at 15. Later, I got one from the Godfather. We had the Bones Brigade here during the 87' tour. The one that ended me skating 3 years later on handrails(ACL was torn to shreds)- Vallely's EX, an Experimental when Hawk came here to Pittsburgh, was AWESOME, later to be Mike Vallely and Frankie Hill's shape(Frankie's had 2 sets of front holes for a longer nose. (All it had was the word Experimental plastered in diagonal across the bottom.

Thanks for the comment👊🏼 Some great stories...wow. Would have been so stoked to see the Bones Brigade in '87. Torn ACL...definitely no fun but that's part of what makes skating so memorable...the successes and failures.The Experimental decks are a true part of the history and the mystery of skating in the 80's🤙🏼

If you’re running rat bones on this with 159 indys would you do 1/2 or 1/4 risers?
@80slove
@80slove 2 года назад
Old School would have been 1/2" but I've definitely seen guys riding 1/4". I guess it also depends on how loose you ride your trucks and the stiffness of bushing you use. I've just been using 1/4" on a lot of my recent reissue setups but I definitely rocked 1/2" back in the day.

Hey Al! 159s would probably be fine...it's not as wide as some of the other OG decks and 169s seem to stick out a bit but I think either would be fine. Here's a link to a video that shows 169s on the Blue D&B I have: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2HtedJeFUow.html

Jesus.. Look at the tail on that Underhill up there. Question.. Are you only collecting Powell's?? I'm collecting pretty much any deck that I take a liking too. I'm more or less a graphic hound. But I gotta admit. Old School graphics kill the newer graphics they have these days. I'd like to get a hold of a Tony Hawk Medallion deck. The nose on that board really helped my nollies.

Coincidentally, I recently bought both of those colours too! I want to set one up for riding, but I can't decide which one!🤔 I'm wondering if one would be best kept pristine, more than the other, or just pick the colour I want to ride and go for it!? Any advice at all?😏

I feel the pain lol. The Blue 2018 will has more value and is pretty sought after. I get people asking all the time if I'll sell it. What do you have for trucks? If you only have 'New School' pattern then they'll fit the blue but not the Silver. You'll need a 6 hold baseplate (Indy) for the Silver or some Old School Trucks because the Silver is the 'Old School' hole pattern. I don't know if they'll feel much different when skating but would probably keep the 2018 (Blue) on the wall because of the value. Just my thoughts...

Jason Rusnak I haven’t skated it yet, I just retired the black/purple cab bats deck with the new bolt pattern, I loved that board, the silver one replaced that deck, I think it will be just as good, I switch between a bunch of different boards often so I don’t think the small difference in tail and nose will be much different, at least bit to me at my skill level, or should I say lack of skill level 🤣, I used to be pretty good back around 1997-2003, now I’m happy if I land a kickflip that isn’t too sloppy
