Hi Daniel, this is an amazing tutorial and I can't wait to get stuck into it. I have a few questions. Is there a solution to filtering/alphabetising (as an example) the list in the main screen if there is a lot of individual data entered? e.g. 100+ entries? Also, if I omit the copy form function (as I would like to keep the most up-to-date data for each person) what would be the easiest way for them to update a particular field without refilling the form again? e.g. do they simply type in their full name and then whatever they change this will be reflected on sharepoint under their existing entry? Hope this makes sense. All help is appreciated. Thank you Daniel.
@DanielChristian19
@DanielChristian19 3 года назад
Thanks Utsana, For filtering/alphabetising you can using the Sort or SortBy function. Now, in a gallery you are presented with 100 items at a a time. Once you scroll down you will see the next 100. The success of the filter function depends on the data source and if it's delegable. For delegable data sources such as SharePoint, Dataverse & SQL your filter works at the source level. To update only a specific field and not all here is what I do- 1) Make sure no fields or columns are marked required at the data source. 2) When editing using Edit form or patch function, refer to only that field. Hope this helps and keep power apping!

@DanielChristian19
@DanielChristian19 4 года назад
Hi Komal, Thanks for the compliment. I haven't worked with the AI form scanner feature yet but based on the demos I have seen you can save the scanned items in a collection. Hence I'd first add the collection to a gallery and take a look at all the columns. If any columns do give the red squiggly line then add them to a secondary gallery and see if the data shows up there. You'll have to do this again and again for a few columns and through the process of elimination you'll get it working. Hope this helps and keep Power Apping!

@DanielChristian19

Hey Dale, You can make a data card invisible based on a condition. I usually use the If() for that. Select the entire data card and not the data card value and apply the condition. It will magically disappear 🙂

Tushar, For filtering based on the user, the data source needs to have a column with the user's login ID or email address. Then you can filter the gallery using Filter(DataSourceName, UserID=User().Email) The data should get refreshed automatically after an entry has been made. You can try adding Refresh() in the OnSucess()

Hi Vivek, You can use the same SharePoint connector in several edit forms across multiple screens. Keep in mind that you will be submitting the data multiple times as well. Hey Chipmunk, Yes to both using a control column. For filtering the gallery with the post edit item, you can use a control column or use the modified date column. If modified date No Equals created date means it has been modified later on and you can hide those from the gallery. For the lock, I use a control column and usually name it as status or something. What I do is by default set the value of that column item as lock or false. That way in the app it opens as lock or false. In the app do whatever you need to but make sure when the item is saved, the column value is set back to lock. Hope this helps.

If I don't want to bind Form Item with gallery selected, Instead of this I want to bind Form Item with User().Email which exists in Sharepoint list and wants to edit logged-in User data. for that what can I do in Form?

Syed, For what you are trying to achieve, have the data populated in a collection and then display that in the Edit form.

Thank you Daniel, issue is resolved with some other method. I fix form data source with SP List and in item I put lookup instead of gallery's selected.
