Thank you, once more, very for a beginner like me. ...and of course , beginner questions: 1-Can we decide which field goes top left hand side as kind of Record title ? Apparently it's always the primary key, isn't ? ... in my case it's an idcode, an unique identifier, but meaningless for a user. 2-Same issue on the lookup field that shows the related primary key and not related meaningful field, ... That makes possible questions for your next vid ;-) thkx
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 2 года назад
Hi Tristan, thanks for watching, beginner questions always welcome 🙂 1 - The top left hand title will always be the Primary Name Column, the one that has the schema name of "name" when you create the table. If you're getting an idcode there, you might want to consider using another field for idcode and using the name for whatever you want in that title spot. 2 - that is a thing that can be configured and definitely a good idea for another video. This might also help - powerapps.microsoft.com/fr-fr/blog/advanced-lookup-experience-in-model-driven-power-apps/

@@LisaCrosbie Thank you Lisa. I was afraid of that possible answer. ;-) This means I do have to overhaul all my tables. Is there an efficient way to do it because to change the Primary Named column you first must delete the entire table then recreate manually all fields ? Or is there import/export mechanism?

Is there any way to clean up forms so that information is "consolidated" rather than all separate entries? For example - I don't ever need to have a user's home address zip code, city, province, etc on separate lines. I'd rather just have one information block (with no heading, under their name and profile photo) with their address, because it would save SO MUCH screen real estate!

I can create a section with multiple columns, but I can't actually get the form fields to go into multiple columns (they will only live in the first column and spread across the section). Can you demo how to make a multi-column section work?

Hi Lisa, your videos have helped so much with developing MDA's. I just wanted to know, is there a way of filtering form tabs, based on a record. Eg. Red Tab | Blue Tab | Green Tab Record = Color Value: Red Then from that I just want to see what's on the Red Tab and its columns? Many thanks from the UK
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie Год назад
Showing or hiding a whole tab based on a selected value can be done but it does require a bit of javascript code, unfortunately it can't be done with low code / out of the box features at this stage.

If there any way to enable a quick form in edit mode for a model driven app? Really looking to have the quick add form pop up to the right as a quick edit form.
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 11 месяцев назад
No, you can't do that, but have a look at the Power Apps grid control, which lets you create a view as an editable grid, and then you can just edit everything inline in that grid. (I haven't done a video yet on that but it's on my list!)

Yet again learning more.. Can I ask when you view a form it has a Related Tab, is there a way to hide this? Thanks
@LisaCrosbie

Yes, you can hide it. In your form editor, choose "switch to classic" and then follow the steps here - crmtipoftheday.com/1347/hide-the-related-records-tab-in-unified-interface/

Thank you so much. I would like to I am trying to get the current logged in user email / full name on model driven apps to compare it with a certain field on a CDS entity. Requirement - a user submits a report and says my managers email address / name is "X" (over riding manager field on user level); then the user "X" should be able to see that report. Is this possible. Can you guide How to get current user email in model driven app and permission in business process flow?
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie Год назад
You can get the current user (and then their manager) using the Office 365 connector in Power Automate, and trigger that from a model-driven app / business process flow. There are also some suggestions here that might be a better fit for your use case; powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Dataverse/Current-User-Name-and-Email-Id-in-Model-Driven-Application/td-p/1407769

Thanks Lisa. Great video. However i have a scenario i am trying to solve and disliking the fact that the answer boils down to javascriot. Wondering what your thoughts are in terms of cracking this. I want to use the contact table with three main forms. The main forms should however be shown depending upon if its Student contact, teacher contact or service provider contact. Each of the 3 forms would capture different information depending upon who is filling it up. I have done some digging and am hating the fact that all answers lead to java script. I was wondering if power automate could be leveraged?
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie Год назад
I'm afraid you're right, you need a small piece of javascript to do this, and you can't use Power Automate to swtich forms. The closest you can get using low/no code is to use business rules - a single form, rather than 3 forms, and then depending on the contact type chosen, the relevant fields are visible or not visible.

Beginner question for you Lisa. I understand forms and how it can be used to display information from a table, but do you have a video on how can I make a nice seach page/form/view to get to bring up the record in question? Or do you have to use one of the built in search boxes?
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 2 года назад
The best way to search is to use Dataverse search which sits as a global search bar at the top of your app. Video on that coming soon.

Hi @Lisa, as always, your tutorials are very clear and informative. Can you guide me on how to create a flow such that, when a "form" from a model driven app is submitted, it triggers an email to user? In my real scenario, this is the requirement : -There is a "Change request" table that has forms/views etc -Whenever a new change request form is submitted, it should trigger email via a flow. I am struggling to understand how to define the starting point and configure flow to do this. The dataverse triggers "when a row is added/modified", OR "when an action is performed" dont suit this requirement. Can you please help?
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 2 года назад
Hi Vasanth, I will do a video on this. If I understand correctly then “when a new row is added/modified” will be the right trigger to use. Adding a row is what happens when you submit a new change request form.

@@LisaCrosbie thanks so much. Also I saw another of your video titled "how to trigger approval from a business process flow". That looks like what I may need. However there is another thing iam stuck on. I created the Business process flow and the cloud flow Inside my solution, and published the changes inside the soln. However in the existing model driven app, when I click on "changes" (which is meant to be the change request"), I can't see the BPF in that. Is there anything else I need to do, after creating the bpf and flow in the solution? The model driven app already exists and I need to update these changes so that when I click on "changes" sub area of the main app screen, it should reflect this BPF , but it isnt So 2 main questions really : 1) in my initial scenario I mentioned, will I be able to create a flow only via a BPF? Or can I directly call a flow from the change request table, without having to involve a business process flow? 2) once I create the BPF and flow inside my solution, how do I Incorporate that in the app such that when I click the "changes" sub area in thr group, it shows the BPF and the above changes?

Dear Lisa, how to change Label like "New Contact",....Thanks
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 2 года назад
You can't change the label directly but you can change the display name of the table itself in the settings. e.g. you could rename the Contact table to Client, then it will be "New Client" or whatever you change it to.

Hi, not entirely clear on what the problem is here, sorry. Summary and Details are tabs that come with the main form I'm working on. Make sure you're clicking on the tab component and perhaps you just need to edit the names?
@Yatish1307

There is an business requirement, where if an user fills the form with selected option of picker, Then in the Summary form view user should only see the Relevant Tab/Sections in the form (not all tab should be display in the form) and also the sections/Fields should be non editable once the users fills the form in first place, Can you please explain how to achieve this scenario?
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie 2 года назад
You can use Business Rules (I'm making a video on that soon) to show or hide fields, or make fields mandatory or locked, It doesn't work for whole sections or tabs though (you need to use javascript to do that).

Hi Lisa, I absolutely love your Videos. I build a customized CRM-Application as a model driven app based on your beautiful and detailed explanations. I was wondering, if you have some spare time regarding a question of mine relating to forms. Within the form editor I am able to to paste a view from an external website. Unfortunately I'm only able to insert a direct url. Is there a possibilty to insert an dynamic url based on an entry within a column of the entity? So basically every entry in the entity has a different url reference which I want to use to display a different iFrame on form.
@LisaCrosbie

Hi Justus, that's an interesting question. What do you mean when you say you are currently pasting a view from an external website? Do you mean pasting the URL in a URL type field?

how can i record on streem from prsentation preview
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie Год назад
Is this about recording when you are presenting in teams? The standard meeting recording on stream won’t record your presenter mode. If you want that you’d have to share your PowerPoint in edit mode during the meeting or record your own screen as you present with a screen capture software like Camtasia although I don’t recommend that while presenting in teams because it slows everything down.
