Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, and Project Oakdale preview for Pros 

Great video. Since Microsoft interviewed me, I have been evangelizing the the heck out of Oakdale. They did a second video interview with me that will be released at Ignite and the first one is on the customer stories page on the their site under Office Depot. I couldn't have gotten to the level I am with Power Apps without your help. I can never thank you enough for helping me have a little shining star at the end of my 40 year career in IT before I retire one day.

Excellent video, would love you to cover how one could move data in and out of the Teams cds instance, to another Teams cds and beyond Teams to say Dynamics or even Azure SQL etc. Oh and row level security too please.

Hi Shane I have a request/question, In any way can we use power app flow to export Data from "Microsoft Project". As I have multiple Project files around 300-400 every week and creating macros on Project file did not work for me.

Hi shane, our company has been touting that the CDS for Teams will be the answer to all my problems. 1) But as you commented to someone else, any CDS data started through Teams isn't visible outside of Teams. One of the goals is to surface the data on my 4 SP sites but it appears I will still have to export via Power Automate to 4 different SP lists (one on each site) if I need to surface that data. I was hoping there was a web part to show the CDS data but apparently that has to be done through a SP List as I understand it. Obviously I realize we can also just link to the Power App. We don't have a license for CDS (except what is included with this Teams integration). 2) Is there anyway on a SP page to market/integrate the Power App other than just doing a button to it? 3) You mentioned that CDS is way quicker than a SP List and you also mentioned there are no delegation issues. So that means the we won't see the default 500 item warning (or whatever # it is) if we build the Power App using Teams CDS data.

My organization has 600 people, so to have 3 apps, it would cost us more than $313,000.00 a year after tax to use Power Apps! I could hire two full-time developers and buy all of the infrastructure to run 100 apps for that price! What a joke!

Great Video! Silly question: who has permissions to edit the powerapp in Teams or the Struktur of the Database? I Want the Users only To use the App an dont have the opportunity to change the App or data directly in the Database cds table.

Hi Shane, would you have a video on delegations when using project oakdale as datasource? Would we be able to countrows more than 2k records upfront without using multiple consolidated collections?

Hi Shane, great video :) Do you have any idea why quite a few of the Properties are missing for Labels, Buttons, Date Pickers in PowerApps for teams? For example a Label does not seem to have any of the Padding, Disabled Color, Pressed Color or Tool Tip Properties when added from the side toolbox. I have noticed that some of the labels already built into the Inspection and Employee Idea's Templates do have the full range of properties. A bit of frustration is the new date picker as it will not allow me to change the background fill, so I am stuck on the Default Teams Background Fill color.

Hi, I am very confused. Please, I do not see the Power Apps Preview app on my teams app. Why would this happen ?

How many rows of data can the table hold? What if you want users to only see their own data like you do in sharepoint.

Me no have "Power Apps (Preview)" now, on April 13, 2021. Has that changed? Or do I have to have my IT director add that for me to see/use. I do have Power Apps, though.

Free (?) CDS-lite connector for PowerApps with a user friendly table editor -- great. Having to do everything inside of Teams and new Teams environments where none of our existing work lives... not great.

Thank you for the video and thank you for covering the nuances! I wonder, would it be possible to make a video that introduces the teams chatbot? I'd love to see scenarios for the chat bot within teams, potentially how it interacts with project oakdale tables being used in a teams powerapp.

I got a little worried that it was creating a full CDS enabled environment for every Team that used this, but after diving through the docs and your video its good to see that it's essentially a CDS-lite (Tables instead of Entities and Columns instead of Fields, 1million row/2GB limit). Now that I know a little more, I'm feeling more excited about that this can enable for those who haven't taken the plunge into CDS and are mainly trying to use SP as a data source. Thanks Shane!

Hi. Great video. When I try to add Power Apps to Teams it say 'We are currently not available in your region.' If you click on Learn More or on Go to Power Apps it takes you to the Microsoft Store. How can we find out which regions are supported? I love all your videos btw.

Hi Shane, I have seen your Power911, and I have one form that contains different column and would like filled this powerapps form and convert to pdf after filling, on your two videos that PDF generator, the first one is simply filled one value example chewy lunch, the second one has simply converted the filled table all are important but our case three values filled on the form and how to generate pdf. if you have an idea let me know. Just found something very intresseting when playing around with this, if i copy an element (text box in my case) from a normal canvas app into the builder inside of Teams - all the regular features and toggles appear in the teams builder. Wonder if this is a bug or a feature....

What's the import process like for importing large amount of data? I know for adding records from a spreadsheet to a sharepoint list can sometimes be arduous.

Greta video Shane, Can third party colleagues access (co-workers from different companies than the hosting company) and update the CDS by adding/editing the App in Teams. I know 3rd parties can access our team sites but we always seem to struggle retrieving data from colleagues who do not work for us.

Hi Shane, do you have a video of an app that you can publish over several teams? So when you make changes it deploys to all teams. How do you tackle this?

Thanks Shane for the tips, I will follow your suggestion to start with smaller non critical apps, but I find quite attractive the idea to use Teams for app sharing.

For the life of me I couldn't find the different icons...then I realized you just add the + Add Icon and then change the Icon name in the properties...their help page doesn't seem to have a link to all the icons and their images. I see others have created their pages such as ... sandyu.com/2017/11/04/powerapps-new-icons/ but I would have thought Msft could have it. I'm sure they do.

Thanks as always Shane! Just an FYI, I didn't have the preview version showing, but when I chose the normal PowerApps it was actually the new preview version. Also, it might be worth suggesting to people that when creating an app they could do it in the Teams web app so that they can still chat in Teams desktop, hopefully that's possible because it seems annoying if you have to close the studio every time you get a new message. Look forward to hearing more from you on Project Oakdale as it develops.
