So you can share it to everybody (external or via web) without them needing a pro license, but you cannot share it with your co-workers.... that suxsss, any ideas how to make it work without making it public (security issues)?
Is there anyway we can share reports with specific external users without that user having to create an account (sign in or sign up) in power BI? I know that the publish to web option is available but I don't want it to be completely public and it would be even better if I could somehow create a password for the report that only these user can use..
Hi there thanks for all the tutorials. Just one thing I would like to know is that every time I try to refresh data it does not refresh with changes I make to source data, what would be some of the reasons for this ?
Hi Avi, so users within the same organization but without pro license can't view the dashboard share from the pro license user? Even if the pro license user shares it via link or email?
Hi Avi, Thank you for your informative videos! I have a few questions - so sharing dashboards/reports with external parties does not require the viewer to have pro licence. Lets say I am the only person in my organisation modeling data and creating visuals based on data received from my clients. So I have 100 clients and I receive their data twice a week where I add the new data to the query that models the data, which feeds the views I have created. If I have a dashboard/Power BI model for each of my clients, I can share their individual dashboards with them at a cost of $10 per month? Considering that I am the only user creating views, while my external clients only view them.
Hi Avi thanks for the great explanation. I know it's not relevant anymore but could not find any NEW video re this subject on your channel. I tried to understand something about Power BI pricing and what can be shared, and can not figure out the right answer. Get a certain situation I'm having: A customer turns to you and wants you to build a few Dashboards using the Power BI. In addition to what he wants to see about his own business, he also wants to make sub-dashboards to his customers, relying on the dashboards you made him, and send them to his customers (each client who sees only his own). I can not figure out whether I should own a Power BI Pro OR my client should buy a license of Power BI Pro or that every customer who wants to get a monthly report should also buy a license for Power BI Pro ? The majority of dashboard will be outside my client's organization The Pricing of the Power BI for the different licenses are very confusing. to me. appreciate you help with that. Shlomi
Uldis, The new video is live at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nx2JPXk8OTU.html and also updated the 'Details' for this video to point to the new one.
Would have liked to see if a Pro license is required when not using any "Pro fuctionality" (also wish there was a list of what's a Pro feature, what's not) and publishing to the Power BI service, Premium or otherwise--as opposed to publishing to the web. It seems there are a lot more (and more common, more basic) permutations to consider.
Hi drizzt197three. This video is actually outdated, since the Power BI Licensing model was drastically changed by Microsoft. at 5:03 you have mentioned "Shareing a report/Dashboard that uses Pro Functionality" What does that means? I tried to share my dashboard with external user but A popup appear that ask the user to Upgrade to Pro licence. "Upgrade to Power BI Pro This content is only available to users with a Power BI Pro license. When you upgrade, you get access to collaborate with others and distribute content. Upgrade today or try it free for 60 days"
Hi Kulchandra Neupane. This video is out of date, check out my latest video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nx2JPXk8OTU.html Yes, now any sharing requires a license :-| If you're still stuck ask me in my next TalkPowerBI. Followed your procedure step-by-step but it (external share) didn't work for me. If I click the link in my email, I get the Power BI startup with a blinking icon in the middle, but nothing else. No shared visualization, no prompts, no messages, nothing. If I click on the upper left-hand Power BI icon (nine black squares on a yellow background), I am logged in, but am told that I must have a Pro account to see anything shared with me. Sigh. And I had such high hopes for this one. Thanks anyway. Love your videos.
Bea, Microsoft has changed their Licensing model. I have a new video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nx2JPXk8OTU.html explaining the new pricing model - Power BI Premium, Pro and Free.
+Rufio No, you cannot restrict access if you publish to web. For that either share inside PowerBI.com or Power BI embedded may be an option. ⚡Power On!⚡Avi ** Join me for next #TalkPowerBI Live on Fridays www.RU-vid.com/PowerBIPro/Live **
Brijendra, this is an old video. So don't base anything off of this video, here's the new video outlining the latest Power BI Licensing options: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nx2JPXk8OTU.html
