POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN DOES RAQ’S MOM DESERVE SOME OF THE BLAME? 

Raq says she didn't want Kanan around the business, but there's a reason she didn't send him with her mother. But, I also see a little of Raq in her mother in the way she responded to her question.

You see a lot of people in the church like Raqs mother. They have either turned their lives around and they are opened and honest about who and what they were, OR they are pious and self righteous and use the church and religion to cover their dirt and demons.

Raq's Mom reminds me of Dre's Mom. I found it strange that Raq didn't even tell her what happened to Lou Lou.

I also think Raq asked, because she wants to justify how she’s raising Kanan; so in a way she’s low key trying to face her own personal demons - while simultaneously wanting to call out her mom.

Marvin raised Raq and Lulu which leads me to believe that mom dukes was an ex-piper/addict.

They showed this scene for a reason and it’ll definitely come back to prove Raq’s point

She started the cycle that brought Raq, Marvin and Lou Lou to the game..and now Kanan is in it! She's too sanctified to admit it..and points the blame on others...I bet you she doesn't even know Kanan or Jukebox!

Yes she does! From her attitude it's like she tried to run away from the fact that she is her mother and was responsible for her for 18 years. Obviously she failed her as a parent and for some reason is blaming Raq when she was supposed to be a mother and guide her daughter. She didn't do that it's obvious then got the nerve to be up in church eating cookies. 🍪

I wonder where is their father? They mentioned him a few times and we know that both of them were "on their shit". So showing the mother is foreshadowing something bigger. Eeeeehhh yes and no. Marvin is the one that got them in the “business”. Her PARENTS were drug addicts. At a certain point you have to take accountability for your own 💩 Kanan could say the same thing about Raq, Juke about Marvin. Looking at someone else always takes the onus off of YOU and you’re the only one that can make changes in your life. Raq just like Kanan had another door they could have opened.
