Being new to woodcarving, I appreciate how you presented this tutorial. Talking about the burrs & the order in which they are used is extremely helpful. Thank you!!!

I've been looking for a video JUST LIKE THIS!!! Thank you!! Right to the point (pun intended) and actually demonstrating how and which tips to do what. This is great since I JUST started using my "dremel"/rotary tool.

Good job, PJ! For now, I am still getting the hang of just using a knife, although I do have one of the carbide bits which works well in the Dremel.

I ran across your video today. Has anyone tried to use tools like this to back cut molding that would replace coping to fit?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa 2 года назад
I have not heard of anyone using these for molding, but I would imagine they would work great!

Hello pj, very interesting video! I had a question though. I'd like to start power carving figurines but I'm having a lot of trouble finding resources to learn from. I checked on youtube and on amazon (for books) but there's not much. What should I do?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa 3 года назад
Great question. You are right. There really are not many power carving figures book on the market. One of the few book we have liked on power carving is the Power Carving Manual. It is an overview of many different projects all carved with rotary tools. Here is a link. treelineusa.com/power-carving-manual-best-of-wci/

Good vid. So what’s the difference between the power carver and the foredoom?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa Год назад
Good question. Probably the best way to answer this is by a new video. Here is a link to a video that demonstrates the difference between the Foredom Flexshaft and the Micro Motor systems we carry. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bx1zj0c8iX8.html

can i use a small angle grinder for carving? or will i sacrifice a lot of detail?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa 2 года назад
Good question. Yes, you can use an angle grinder, but most of the blades are about 4" in diameter. I would think the angle grinder with the right wheels can do most of the roughing out and general shaping but then for the details you might want to use something smaller. Here is a link to the Arbortech line of tools that fit onto most angle grinders and will give you a lot of different options for removing wood. treelineusa.com/power-carving/arbortech-power-carving-tools/

Hello PJ, I'm new to power carving and have a question. I want to make some shallow grooves/channels to then inlay powdered stone using epoxy resin. What bit would be best for that? Thank you, Phil
@treelineusa
@treelineusa Год назад
Hi Phil! Good question. Depending on the size of groove you can use a few different bits for this. If your tool has a 1/16" collet, you can use the 699 Cross Cut Tapered Fissure to make very intricate lines. ( treelineusa.com/no-699-taper/ ) or if your tool uses a 1/8" collet then you can use the end mill bits ( treelineusa.com/4-flute-end-mill-bit-1-8-shank-1/ ) I hope this helps.

Just starting out and I see tungsten, carbide and stainless steel... What is the difference or best?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa 3 года назад
Good question. The tungsten carbide bits will stay sharp and hold their edge a long time. I have not heard of stainless steel bits but many people use high speed steel bits which are really sharp but will dull much faster than carbide bits. If budget can stretch to be able to purchase carbide bits then I would recommend that. Sometimes newer carvers will buy high speed steel bits to experiment with different profiles, but as soon as you know what bits you want to use in the long-term then carbide bits are worth the investment.

I have many questions: 1. the carving basic can be shipped to chile? 2. only you have in 110V? i ask for 220V 3. payment metod?
@treelineusa
@treelineusa 3 года назад
Good questions. Yes, the micro motor machines can be shipped to Chili, however, the manufacturer will only warranty the machines that are sold within the US. The power supply can be switched to 220V with a simple switch on the back of the box. You would just need to get a different power cord (like a printer cord) that will work in your area. If you do want to place an order, you can order on our website and use a credit card or PayPal. I hope that helps. If you have other questions, please let me know.
