A simple fix to the common problem of when your charger no longer charges your Macbook Pro or Air or plain MacBook. When that little light no longer comes on. And, a couple of thoughts of how to prolong the life of your power pack
Did NOT work... but not because of you... my charger cable line is 13 years old... I bought an off brand (Bad Judi)... and that does not work SOOOO is there ANY other way to Charge my old 17" 2011 MBP laptop? Or do I just have to buy a whole NEW APPLE power (square box)
You just saved me 50 bucks with a few taps. God bless you. This is the most amazing trick i have seen on RU-vid. Did you sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. So smart.
I tried a couple times on a wood desk to no avail. Then I did a hard tap on my granite countertop and "voilà!" It worked! A TON of thanks for this tip!
No way, this actually worked!!!!! I was updating my moms software and she was blaming me for breaking her charger when she got her laptop back. After about 45 mins of trial and error I came to youtube and find this THANK YOU!!!!
Wow! You are truly a life saver! I spent the last 4 hours looking for solutions, id almost given up and was gonna order a new one and BOOM! I came across your video. Loads of thanks! For those wondering, this works for c type chargers aswell.
Solving the problem of not charging - such a simple solution - and it works!!! It has frustrated me for ages!!!! Thanks for posting. Super appreciate it.
Literally flabbergasted. I was like “...smack it??” .. “...ok...” and it FINALLY WORKED after months of nothing. No light on when plugged in. I’m actually shocked thank you for saving my relationship & my school grades
I have an assignement due it 3 hours and i noticed it wasnt working anymore i immediately found this video. You are a life saver my computer was minutes away from dying ,
I laughed out loud when this actually worked for me. Here I was watching extensive DIY repair videos, when a few taps did the trick. Much obliged partner!
HOLLY CRAP IT WORKED?!?!?!?!?! I'M SO CONFUSED AND HAPPY! Thanks, I was on my moms Mac and I noticed the light wasn't lighting up. If it wasn't for you I'd probably have to buy the replacement.
You are a genius sir, i have been stressing over about my charger i was wondering what happened. But now my problem is solved. I still can't believe it just easy as that. I can't thank you enough sir.
Ive been worried for a week bec my macbook is not charging!! Ive been searching in the net about how to fix and nothing happened. Then i came to see your your video while browsing some solutions! I just tap tap tap it as you just did and now, its charging!! I was skeptical about it at first but when yoy said that your nephew is working in an apple store, I got so confident! Now its working!, thank yoy so much!!!
I just screamed for joy!!!! Thank you. I could see that one pin is in. I tapped it on a wooden floor, it didn't work, I took it to a hard floor as a comment here suggested and it reared it's pretty head......out and now charging. You saved me.
I was freaking out since my laptop wasn't getting charged since past one week...And I saw your video THIS IS ABSOLUTELY GENIUS... Thank you soooo muchhhh!!!
Thank you so much. I have the small charger for a 2010 Macbook Pro and it stopped working when I just bought it (3) months ago. I tried what you said and walla it worked!!!! You are a life saver.
Thanks a lot man ! my charger stopped working months now , ordered a new one and that blew.. now i did this tip and my old charger is working again ! thank man ! you will be saving people bucks
I have researched on internet to find magsafe 1 60W T type cable over an hour: no chance! In fact all I needed was tappin it on the desk for 3 seconds? You are a living legend sir, now I understand my dad's power in my early childhood of beating the TV, it just works ?! :/
I really didn’t think this was going to work, but you should’ve seen my face after I whacked it against my table a few times and the battery lit right up. This video was a godsend
OMFG THIS ACTUALLY WORKS! At first it didn't work but I tapped it a few more times and left the charger in the MacBook for a little while and it worked. Thanks a lot man :D
Do u know how to plug in a Mac book pro charger like a new one you know the plugs and then the cable my cable and plug the bit that u plug in is round like u plug in the box thing and then the way the cable goes in it is a round thing and it doesn’t come out so how the heck do I get a new charger if it doesn’t even come off ? Do u have to buy a new whole plug 😭
I stand amazed - I tried every method on the internet to fix the MagSafe connector to work with lights in - thank you!!! I’m needing my Mac to teach tomorrow and you have saved the day! MacAir2011 issue solved!
I literally!!!!!! Just fixed mine by doing that first step, the banging it on the table. Omgggg after months of not using my laptop!!!!! I literally told your video “thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!” Thank you so much!
Lol, I tried the first method you said. It didn’t work. A little while after it started working on its own. I was watching your video .. your voice has magic 😂
heres a quick tip for those of you saying this doesnt work, while your charger is plugged into the wall put your ear to it and listen for a buzzing noise, if you cant hear the buzzing noise it means theres no electricity coming form your outlet OR your charger is burned out which means its completely dead and you need to buy a new one. A healthy charger should make a quiet buzzing noise when plugged into a working outlet. The buzzing noise is very quiet so you need to put your ear to it to hear it. It should make this noise whether its plugged into your computer or not
Omg it worked! It didn’t the first two times - but I tried pressing in the little pins and then hitting it harder and it actually worked! Phew 😅 ... work deadlines approaching. This was a lifesaver - THANK YOU
Fantastic..worked poifect one month old new mac power cord...about breaking and kinking...I wrap both ends with a 3M rubber tape. (Scotch Linerless rubber splicing tape 130C...it comes in a few widths)..made for repairing power lines!!..FABULOUS stuff I wrap a few inches on both sides..carefull wrap small connector..right up to edge...I use more rubber to start and then less...allows cable to have a gentle flex...I promise if u can find this rubber "tape" get some...it also stretcheeeeees...so you can wrap tight...I put it on all power cards...phones,computers etc..it is made to work on electrical lines. Once u use it u will find more and more uses...better than sugru, Thanks again saved me a tripto computer store, NJ
Thanks Dave! Had the same issue a month ago and ended up buying a new charger. Did this trick on the old one and it totally worked and I returned the new one to apple today and got my $ back so I can put it toward the tobacco squared backpack......one day... I cannot friggin wait.
One of my pins were so deep in .. Thanks to u a tweaser and tapping it kinda forcefully on a solid floor works! The ancestors led me to your video ! Much Love 💜💜💜
OMG! Tapping 0:55 the magnetic end worked on newer charge. Thank you so much. Under a magnifying glass I could see one of the prongs was sticking out. Still longer than others but after tapping it worked.
Thank you - you gave me an idea on how to fix it. I tried the banging on the table thing but that did not work then I simply pulled out the pins some more and THAT worked.
dude, i tried several repair jobs.....all to no avail....then i watched yours where you tapped the head on the desk to jig the pins back in place.....and it worked. i now have power....and you saved me £79. thank you.
+Sophie Bridges Yay! Glad that worked out for you. Dave is good for all kinds of ideas that don't get filmed. He probably needs a documentary crew following him from time to time to capture more stuff like this. :) - Sid
😃 Sir is this some kind of witchcraft????? You saved me I was about to buy new charger! I wish u well in everything u do and may you live longer and happy with your family

It worked...I also took the cord off of the brick and clipped it back together...My first charger I thought was broken and ordered another one and now my current charger I thought was broken and just now ordered one on amazon and then googled why it stops working, found you and it works...just cancelled the order :) . Many Thanks amazing

So I did everything Dave said to do. I checked other videos and I’m already crying coz nothing will work. And so I rush to the Service Center and guess what’s wrong!!! A staple wire was caught in the charging port. Ugh. But thanks dave! This is also very helpful
Lol that’s crazy 2021 June I litterlty just did that and it worked I hate watching videos cause it don’t never work for my situation this one 1000 percent did thank u back to go studio and recording music videos 🔥‼️💻👍🏾🙏🏾
It didn't work for me but I'm still really glad I found this video because I could see that a couple of the little things were shorter and blacker. Are they burned out?
You saved me 6 minutes ago!!! My macbook high Sierra charger is turning green at the tip. The metal piece keeps getting stuck in the macbook too. It still works but I had to clean the charge port, then I saw the little buttons were mashed in. You rock dude!! But I have a question, what's the cheapest macbook high Sierra charger to replace my current one?
dang. I shoulda looked here years ago. both of my MBPro 2008 chargers had same problem, random Green/Orange lighting up when plugging charger to the MBPro. the tapping connector down worked right away. luckily no fraying. cheers.
